...I wanted a value for money, easy to use webcam. I use MSN quite a lot and wanted a webcam to allow video messaging. I also wanted to be able to make mini videos and email them to friends and family. I was recommended Logitech by one of my gadget-freak friends. I chose this particular camera as I felt it was value for money and looked great - small and sleek looking. The frame rate is up to 30 frames per second, which is more than adequate for most users. I shopped around and eventually purchased a Logitech QuickCam Messenger from www.directfrom.com for £14.50. I paid £6 for next day delivery. The Logitech QuickCam Express

Advantages: small, quite nice looking, fairly cheap, works
Disadvantages: installation bit laboriuos, some features don't work when not administrator on XP

...The Logitech QuickCam Express is a nice looking webcam, with a neat little stand and very curvy lines. The camera and base are both whitey, so I don't reckon it would look that good with a black monitor. However, the base is around 9cms wide, and can't be put on top of a TFT moitor easily - at least not mine. If it has to be put on your desk, next to your monitor or whatever, then it doesn't really look up high enough, its really designed to look down on you not up. The focus ring is blue, which blends in nicely but the lens is a bit like looking into a black hole. I don't know if that's the same for all webcams, but it freaks me out a bit if I look straight down it. I got mine for £19.99 from a retail shop, which isn't too bad, and was deffinately a lot cheaper than the others they were advertising on their website. So I reckon it ain...

...This webcam is a piece of crap. Many of the complaints on this cam are having a very poor software support and much complaint for not working properly with yahoo messenger. However the Yahoo messenger will work on this one but the video will be very choppy if you are behind a firewall. If you are using a software firewall, enable port 5100. If you are using a broadband gateway or other type of router, you need to setup a either a virtual server or a port trigger. The port triggers are great if multiple computers on your network want to use the web cam. Just set up a trigger on port 5100 that opens 5100. If only you will use the camera, set up a Virtual Server that routes all traffic on port 5100 to your local IP address.
