Decent stereo headphones for home

Advantages: Price, durability and length of cable (long)

I found these at a Border's shop, and they came with the stereo jack adapter thing for an amp, so I bought it without a second thought (them being Sony an all). logical buy for my needs

The headphones perform well giving good clarity of sound, I listen to all types of music fromm classical to heavy rock , and have played all types through theese headphones and not been disappointed with the sound. The headphones will play music at a good volume before the sound becomes distorted, and the stereo sound is of a high quality. The response bandwidth is supposed to be 20-20000 Hz The microhone again records well, my main use has been with voice recognition in office appications, and it works exceptionally well with this, after the intitial set up and training it has performed faultlesly, allowing me to plough through assignments for college. Robustness, again the headset has performed exceptionally well, it is nearly 12 months old...

...I am coming to realise that iPod/MP3 player earphones take quite a beating indeed. I have owned a number of pairs of said earphones over the past two or three years, and inevitably, eventually they break down (normally the wires get frayed or something, and so you receive audio out of only one ear). The durability of the earphones is compromised also by my habit of wrapping the cord around the iPod itself (apparently a no-no, but I've never found a sufficient convenient alternative). I use in the ear soft earphones. I have small ear canals, and so find rigid earpieces uncomfortable. I'd be tempted by over the ear headphones, but they are inconvenient to transport. The speaker volume can reach a massive amplitude and is still clear at maximum volume. The subwoofer has its own bass volume at the back which you can crank up to feel the whole house vibrate. Logitech X-230 2:1 Speaker System.

Advantages: Compact, deep loud sub, styling of satellites, competitive pricing.
Disadvantages: Much more powerful systems available.

...These speakers were purchased from Argos for £40 to use on my laptop. However I've since learnt I could have bought them for half this amount. The integrated laptop speakers were just to frustratingly quiet to listen to music. The subwoofer provides high quality bass and even when the volume is maxed the quality stays high. A lot of more expensive and powerful systems are not this crisp. For a small room they are ideal. You should only get bigger if you don't have or like your neighbours, because from downstairs I can hear the bass rumbling away even on half volume. The styling of the satellites is good, and the size of the subwoofer is acceptable if you are short on space.
