Silent movies (although at the time - dramatic, new and scary) are dated and it is only performances that will carry a silent movie today. Fortunately Lon Chaney achieves this. His manner of lurking in the background perfectly from the beginning really makes the foreground action...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...I actually stumbled upon this channel by accident, whilst flicking through the channels one day. After many years of watching cbeebies (bbc channel for pre school children) I felt it was time for a change. Mainly because we had been watching the channel almost every day for nearly 4 years (not continuously obviously only for a few hours each day) and by now I think we probably had seen every episode of each programme shown at least twice over if not more :O) It probably didn't bother Chloe or Lee, but was definitely starting to get to me. And there's only so many times you can sit there and watch the teletubbies over and over again without before getting seriously phased by it, i am sure you know what I mean :O) So anyway whilst flicking through the channels I came across NICK JR. It wasn't as if I had never heard of the channel...

...honest I was so into watching what was happening that I didn't even notice! Watching this was also educational as I realised what nylon was named after; NY, New York; LON, London. I think it?s one of those things that you never really notice! All in all this was fantastic, so far, and I urge you to take a look, although I apologise if this episode was a one off. The series seems to be sticking to 10pm on a Tuesday but that may change. The episodes are one hour. Thanks for reading. Louise. x...
