LUXURY IN LONDON!
Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc
Disadvantages: expensive!!!
...In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend in London with my grandma. I?m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn?t wait to go.
One thing I hadn?t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. I reckoned that we wouldn?t be spending too much time in the hotel itself, as we were going to be very busy, so as long as it had two beds, a bathroom and some sort of wardrobe I?d have been happy. I knew the name of the hotel was The Grosvenor, however I didn?t have a clue what its reviews were like, or in fact how many stars it had.
Getting to the hotel
We had absolutely no problem finding the hotel. We took the train from our hometown, to King?s Cross in London. We only had to wait...

LONDON'S CALLING
Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room
...eateries/drinking places and chose 372, which offers carvery selection. I was surprise how hot and fresh the food was. Not only that it was tasty too! We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. That said I ALWAYS OVER cook my veggies. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Our meal for two with drinks cost £29)
Hotel: the hotel it situated in the Strand which is in central London and easy to walk to theatres such as the Aldwych, Lyceum, and many more. Come out the front of the hotel and turn right, and you?ll be heading towards Trafalgar square with Nelson, bear left and you...

The Business Environment - Themes and Issues
Advantages: Well laid out, Very good content, Easy to understand.
Disadvantages: Expensive, Easily damaged cover
...This book contains 16 chapters which cover the key aspects related to the Business environment and is on the reading list for a number of University courses such as Business & Management, International Business and Business & Risk Management.
In my opinion the book details important information in a simple, clear and easy to understand format using a consistant framework from start to finish. This framework identifies how each topic covered within the book is related to the chapter it is under. For example, it will explicitally indicate if it relates to diversity, complexity, or values of a Business making it easier to study and understand the concepts included as it allows you to engage in your own thought rather than be spoon fed information. In addition to this there are also learning objectives set out so that you can assess...

London
Advantages: Education
Disadvantages: Exspensive City Accommodation
...We arrived at London St Pancras and for a split second we questioned ourselves, is this actually St Pancras.
The train came to a standstill.
Immediately we were overwhelmed with the swish new surroundings and by the grandeur of a once, shadowy and very old tarnished rail station; St Pancras had been transformed.
This State of the art new construction towered over us and blended in perfect with the old structure.
St Pancras had become another world of unrecognizable architecture; it had been modernized and instantly brought into the 20th century, though still retaining the original character of old.
We boarded our underground train, the northern line, the 3 D line, Dark; Dingy and Dirty.
Next stop the jubilee line or could it be the orient express. What dissimilarity,
It was far more contemporary than the northern line...

London Underground
Advantages: Convenient method of transport, frequent trains, Easy to get around
Disadvantages: Signal Failures, Broken Trains and Heat!
...♣ The London Underground ♣
-----------------------------------------
Considering I travel on the London Underground at least 6 days a week, it seemed fitting that I came across this category to write under. On top of that, two years ago I spent two days raising money for St Helena Hospice by visiting all of the 275 stations on the network. By the way, if anyone ever feels the urge to do that, I would certainly recommend it as it is great fun. When I did it I wasn?t working to any time schedule but you may want to try and do it in the shortest time as possible for example. However, be aware that this may be affected by any engineering works or delays experienced.
I will begin with a history of the London Underground as a whole before moving on to look at each of the lines in more detail and give you some information...

The Tower of London
Advantages: Full of History, great tours, Crown Jewels
Disadvantages: None
...This past weekend we had an American colleague of ours come to London for the first time so my husband and I (we work at the same company) decided to take her around sightseeing and show her some of London. As we work quite near the Tower of London and both hadn't been here since we were kids we decided to make it our first port of call.
The Tower of London is situated right on the River Thames in the borough district of Tower Hamlets with the closest tube station being Tower Hill on the Circle and District Line. It was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 originally intended as a Royal Palace. It was then used as a prison with a great number of very famous prisoners, mostly kings and queens of England and the various wives of Henry the 8th. This is where the phrase "sent to the tower" comes from in terms of being sent to prison...

Stranded in London!
Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey
..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned.
Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...

For a luxury weekend in London
Advantages: Wonderful surroundings
Disadvantages: Expensive if you have to pay full price
...Hubby and I had a wonderful Christmas present from our daughter and her partner ? a weekend in London and a show! WOW! Were we impressed! She had secretly liaised with my boss so that I could have a long weekend in London. So, on Friday 14 January, off we trotted to London!
She chose The Rembrandt Hotel which is situated in Knightsbridge, in fact, it is opposite the Natural History Museum/Victoria & Albert Museum. We did ?hum and ha? a bit as to whether we should drive up or get the train. At first, the train seemed the better option as London is an absolute nightmare to drive around plus there is that dreaded congestion charge. But then I had a brilliant idea. The company I work for has a flat in the Sloane Avenue area (unfortunately only available to Board members) and it is situated only 3 minutes walking distance from...

'Swin'ging London Town!
Advantages: cheap, clos to King's Cross station and St Pancras Underground
Disadvantages: fire alarms, a little dirty, small rooms and corridors, payment mixups, fraud?
...In my life, I had stayed in, to my knowledge...three hotels. When I made plans to go to London for a week over Easter, naturally I had to work out some sort of accommodation! I didn't have any preferences, apart from the fact that it had to have free wireless connection. I had stayed in just the one hotel in London prior to this trip, and that was the Travelodge. That was just a little trip with the school Campaigns and Fundraising group to claim an award, so I had no involvement with booking. So when I went to check the price, I discovered it was going to cost me around £80 for a night! I really didn't want to pay that, so further rummaged around the internet to see what I could find...
After quite a bit of research I came across a hotel in King's Cross: the Swinton Hotel. When I first came onto their website, it looked quite good...

The London Eye
Advantages: fantastic views of london
Disadvantages: long queues, over in 30mins
...The British Airways London Eye stands 135 metres above the London skyline and is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames next to Jubilee Gardens and County Hall. It is shaped like a giant bicycle wheel, each spoke leading to a glass pod which can hold 25 people. In total there are 32 glass pods, meaning the wheel can carry 800 passengers in one complete revolution. Each flight lasts for 30 minutes and allows passengers to hop on and off without the wheel having to stop. On a clear day you can see for 25 miles, offering great views of London and fantastic photo opportunities. At the bottom there is also a gift shop and café.
I think the London eye is one of the capitals best tourist attractions. I have been on it twice, once during the day and the second time at sunset, this was great and I would definitely recommend going...
