taking the tour

Advantages: accessories, ease of use, price
Disadvantages: for some the size might be a put-off

...has a clock and temperature reader. At any point in my journey I can just look down and check the time or when standing outside the school I can know just who cold it is! The wheels turn easily and smoothly. It used to be that some 4-wheel buggies were hard to navigate but this one has no trouble turning a corner. Just to give you an idea I was in town today with my usual Starbucks in one hand and piloting the buggy with the other. I purchased my Graco travel system from Babies R Us for £260 and there was a promotion to get the £100 accessories pack free. There are various Quattro Tour systems and at very different prices. I think the cheapest of which is around £150. The accessories pack made it so I had the buggy itself, the car seat, one car base, changing bag, foot cosy, carrycot attachment, and rain cover. SAVE THE SHOE LEATHER...GET A BUS

Advantages: Get to see most of Dublin, friendly guides

...You've gotten to Dublin, found your way out of the airport with more twists and turns than the Crystal Maze, dumped your bags in the hotel and now you're ready to go! Although Dublin is a fairly small city some of the sights are a little hard to find and quite far apart, What to do? To save on the old shoe leather there's only one way to see the sights in Dublin and that's on one of the tour buses which can be seen all over the place. We went with the City Tour buses and the price for an all day ticket was only 10 euros (when am I going to get that symbol on my keyboard?). This allows you to travel non-stop around the whole city and get on and off at any of the stops. This particular tour has 16 stops. SEE LONDON ON YOUR ARSE

Advantages: superb value for money, great guides, ticket lasts 24 hours

...Two weeks ago I found myself at a very boring conference in London. Having spent an almost sleepless night in a main-road hotel above a train station, I was in danger of dozing off. Outside, however, the skies were clear and blue and the temperatures unseasonably warm. I waited ‘til twelve, took advantage of the free lunch and then legged it to Trafalgar Square to take an open top bus tour round the capital for the rest of the afternoon. The first bus to come along was the Big Bus Tour. I would have got on it whatever the price and wherever it was going in truth, but I was very pleased to discover that for £15 quid I was entitled to 3 bus tours and 1 boat ride up the Thames as many times as I wanted over the next 24 hours. Review of Getting around in London by bus

Stranded in London!

Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

...stacked high with a traditional beef or lamb or turkey (or all three!) roast, carved by a very friendly and funny chef who served us. As mentioned earlier, Covent Garden is less than 5 minutes walk away (the tube station a couple of minutes more), and most of the theatres are within 5 minutes walk. It was an ideal place to stay. During the day we did the cheesy tourist thing and got on one of the tour buses (a stop is just around the corner from the hotel). We also went on the London eye, but got to this using the tour bus, but I believe it is around 15 minutes walk from the hotel. All in all a good central location for siteseeing and theatre breaks, hence giving it a recommendation, but a little disappointed in the room (especially after paying for a "club" upgrade). It has grey windows. There are no people heads in the windows This bus measures 9.8 cm by 3 cm and 3.8 cm high/ 1.2 in x 3.9 in x 1.5 in high. This bus runs on 4 black wheels it's easy to push. Don't get duped, take a quality tour

Disadvantages: The heavily historic nature of the tour may not suit everyones tastes

...Guide Friday operate tours all over the country although this article is essentially based on their tour of Cambridge. The real selling point of their tour is the live guide and whilst this may make them slightly more then their competitors, (some of whom are so desperate for passengers they will undercut further!) helps greatly in a number of ways. A live guide will have no problem synchronising a tour to the surroundings however fast or slow the bus moves around the city. They will also be able to adapt a tour in order to take account of diversions or recent changes. Both or these things are where tape commentary is really lacking and whilst the latter may not normally be encountered you will certainly find that the former presents a problem for taped bus commentaries every day. Textbook problems aside though its the pure quality...
