(+) An excellent variety of courses that allows flexibility as well as a good variety of expertise. (-) Beware of trying the 'difficult' subjects cos the first few weeks may be a trap for something you will definitely not like later (*) (On Ciao since: 05/2001)

...Hi everyone, I come from ciao.fr & I need your help ! In effect, I'll come in the UK next year... My dilemn… I am student in a French good Business School, ESC Clermont, generally in the 10 or 15 best graduate business & management schools in France… Next year I will study in a Master degree in Management & Business, in the UK, but I have three choices: - London Metropolitan University Business School, - Robert Gordon University Business School in Aberdeen (Scotland) - Birmingham University Business School WHAT do I Know… - Robert Gordon University Business School, and Birmingham University Business School are well recognised B-Schools, programs are serious and interesting… (this is what I have red on the web… tell me if I am wrong…) - London Metropolitan University is a young University... London Zoo: Seen much better.
Review of London Zoo, London by Cotty

Advantages: Easily accessible and to find on Regent's Park.
Disadvantages: Many wild life enclosures unused or "Temporarily unavailable".

...It has been sometime since I last wrote a review, but after visiting London Zoo just yesterday after a 200+ car journey to get there - I and my girlfriend were left slightly deflated once coming away from the zoo. London Zoo is located on Regent's Park on the Outer Cirlce of London which makes is easy to get to for people who live outisde of London and who wish to visit and also very accessible for London residents and for those who may wish to use public transport. Prices: Adult ticket: £14 Concession ticket: £12 Child ticket (3-15 years): 10.75 For what we got to see on the day and for the short time we spent there due to the lack of activites etc, I felt the price was slightly high, but bearing in mind this is in the Capital of the UK, I'm sure the pricing is very much average. You can also cut the price down of each ticket you... Read review

St Georges, the University of London (SGUL)
Review of London University St George's Hospital Medical School by Rohan01

Advantages: probably best teaching in london and certainly best value med school in london
Disadvantages: still expensive compared to outside london, lack of multifacet uni, budget in recent years

...If you're looking to study in london then SGUL is a good choice to make, probably second only to Barts. What attracted me to SGUL first was the amount of sincerity in its press. It offers an education based in the biggest hospital in london , and therefore the biggest amount of departments you can learn from. Everything you need for a medical education is nearby until you come to the inevitable clinicals years when everyone of course moves in and out of campus. Imagine having to travel in from halls for half an hour each way, or having to trek across london to get to see a doctor at Imperial and you'll soon see the advantage this offers. More time to do what you want as well! Another big plus is the value that SGUL represents to a london student. Saving something between 30 to 70 pounds per week on out of halls rent over places like... Read review

more convenient than the tube
Review of Getting around in London by bus by kenduffy

Advantages: reliable cheap
Disadvantages: slow

...Having lived in north london for the past 3 years I have learned to both love and loathe the bus service. There are two fare tiers at present 70p for Outer London and £1 for inner London. I use the bus service to travel around outer london as it is regular, pretty reliable, cheap and never too busy. However I never use the bus service in central london as the roads are virtually in continual gridlock and it is quicker to use the tube or even walk. Most of the buses are relatively clean but some of the drivers are far too grumpy for a job dealing with the public.... Read review

In General its ok
Review of London in general by Belt_team_2000

Advantages: Good tranport, good atractions
Disadvantages: Dirty, smelly, busy

...London in General is a very nice city with plenty to see and easy access using trains. The only problem is that it is very dirty and busy so it is hard to get around and the place can make you cough. You might also be tempted to got to the millenium dome but do not because it is absolutely no good what so ever. The train tickets are not to expensive to get there and there is plenty to see. One thing I do advise you go and see is the London aquarium and go on the london eye. Both of which are nxt to each other and easy to get to using the tube. Also do keep hold of your stuff as there are pickpockets and theves in london which will take unattended stuff.... Read review

The hidden dangers of London
Review of London in general by Zebra

Advantages: Lovely City
Disadvantages: Costly - Some areas are not what they seem.

...crime.All the ingredients of a run down place. This is evident even in broad day light and it`s no longer an area to be taken lightly. Another dangerous area in London is Soho West End , popular with the tourists but also very popular with the drug dealers. Soho is a maze, with lots of side streets and roads leading to dark dead ends. An easy target for for people who don`t know the area. Even the busy Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Cirus, here you will find lots of thieves on the prowl. They survey the area looking at waiting for the right opportunity. So next time your down London just be more careful of what areas you plan to visit. London may be a nice place but it has many hidden dangers that not many tourists are aware of.... Read review

Great
Review of London (England) by Lowey

Advantages: Great attractions
Disadvantages: Smells, dirty, busy, lots of traffic

...London is quite a nice city, with loads of attractions to keep occupied, but I must say it is too busy, is very dirty, smells quite bad and has too much traffic. I went to see the Millennium Dome. I think it is okay, but I certainly do not think it is worth the price and effort it took to build it! Although, it is quite good for families to enjoy a day out. Much better is the London Eye. Once you get on it you have the most fantastic views of London from above. However, there were lots of long queues and unorganised chaos.... Read review

Whirlwind tour of London
Review of London (England) by gemma1234

Advantages: Lots to see and do, good atmosphere, exciting and cosmopolitan
Disadvantages: A bit too crowded and far too much traffic !

...We went on a school trip it was a budget break but was subsidised. The main purpose of the trip was to see the Millenium dome. The dome itself was very boring and not worth the entry fee! The rest of London was great though. The best thing about London was that was so much to do and everything was so cosmopoltian and there are so many very different attractions so close together. The only downside about our trip was that the transport was very crowded and slow moving. The traffic was very slow moving and the bus was so crowded I had never seen anything like it in my life! The bus was so packed people were unable to get on or off at the stops! Eventually we asked someone which bus to get, she was very friendly and helpful as were most of the people we met in London. If you want to visit London it is a very interesting experience... Read review

COCKNEY SLANG,JELLIED EELS AND RED BUSES
Review of London in general by KarmababyUK

Advantages: Great day/break away. Lots of sights, lots of history, lots to do
Disadvantages: The queen lives here

...London is the capital of Blighty, it is home to some of the most famous landmarks such as Downing Street, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham palace, The tower of London and all of the places on the monopoly board! It is a city rich in history aswell as a pretty funky place to live for many famous people including Maddona, Kylie, Elton John and her royal highness herself! It is a haven for shoppers, clubbers and tourists and in my opinion one of the greatest cities in the world. I love the place and you will be surprised to learn that being a good old British lass I had never visited my own countries capital until I was 21 years of age!(Last year to be exact!). I was lucky enough to spent the whole summer in London as an activities supervisor and tour guide for an Italian summer school. Very ironic I know being a tour guide for a city... Read review

London Taxi - Get taken for a ride
Review of Getting around in London by taxi by ParkinK02

Advantages: very easy to find a cab
Disadvantages: if you don't know where you're going you could be ripped off

...If you've never been to London before, make sure you know the name of the streets and how to get there as my experience of London cabbies was not the one I've seen on TV where they know everything about everything. We ended up being charged £25.00 for a trip that we found out later should only have cost about £8.00, you look like a tourist and you'll be treated like one. Finding a taxi is very easy however, you'll never have a problem, night or day. There's a taxi rank on most corners in the busy parts (which is everywhere in central London). Overall it's about planning, as with any trip if you plan right then you'll have no problems, London has a huge number of taxis, which provide lots of options of travel, and if you know roughly how much it should cost to get from A to B then you'll be fine. But you may be taken for a ride... Read review
