...We arrived at London St Pancras and for a split second we questioned ourselves, is this actually St Pancras. The train came to a standstill. Immediately we were overwhelmed with the swish new surroundings and by the grandeur of a once, shadowy and very old tarnished rail station; St Pancras had been transformed. This State of the art new construction towered over us and blended in perfect with the old structure. St Pancras had become another world of unrecognizable architecture; it had been modernized and instantly brought into the 20th century, though still retaining the original character of old. We boarded our underground train, the northern line, the 3 D line, Dark; Dingy and Dirty. Next stop the jubilee line or could it be the orient express. London's Riverside Pubs

Advantages: Great atmosphere,good food, great fun
Disadvantages: Some can get crowded

They provide an ever improving range of traditional English food, first rate views of the river and intimate details from England's history. Dr Johnson is alleged to have said " When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life" and certainly this historic city possesses an endless round of attractions. Whether it be Royal London, Swinging London, Historic London, Cultural London or Tribal London there is seemingly something for everyone in the 600 odd sprawling miles that make-up this metropolis. ...Do you know your (UK) capital well? Do you know it at all? I know Berlin, but not as well as I know London, this being the city I´ve visited most often. How often? I´ve wracked my brain and have remembered thirteen visits, from two days to three months. I´ve been there on my own, with a friend, with my husband and six or seven times (I really can´t remember as I don´t go there regularly) with a group of students. Advantages: Vibrant cosmopolitan city. Lots of celebrities to see

The London Underground - Central line

Advantages: Good way to see London
Disadvantages: Dirty and old

...One of the busiest transport networks in the entire world is based right here in London. Its common name is "the Underground" a name adopted in the 1930's along with its famous Red circle and Blue stripe through. Yet the tube network was started much earlier in the late 1800's. The underground was a complex maze of tunnels constructed deep underground to solve the transport problems that were beginning to affect London. Advantages: Big place lots to do and many things to see
Disadvantages: It's a big place - can be dirty and a bit grim at times

So it's around January 2000, I'm doing contract work in Leatherhead and being paid wads of cash for my troubles. We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Advantages: amazing city

...London. The city so good they named it... hold on , lost my bearings for a second. What makes a good city? For a holiday , London has to be one of the best places to visit. From the moment you step off the plane , there's a sense of awe. London is an old city so it has a kind of magical feel to it, but still has all the modernised things you want in a city. Old meets new. Leaving the airport , trying to navigate your way to the tube ,and then trying to figure out how the whole thing works is an adventure in itself. After a few minutes staring confuzzled at the tube map , with all it's colourful spaghetti lines , you will probably choose Picadilly Circus for your first real taste of London. You stick your paper travel card into the gate of the tube , the little mechanical doors open and out pops your card. And away you go...
