Great restaurant in North West London

Advantages: Great service and honest welcome
Disadvantages: None to report.

...The restaurant is an independent Nepalese or Indian restaurant, that specialise in preparing and cooking Nepalese cuisine to customers in Eastcote. Eastcote is located in North West London. The store is located on Eastcote High Street which is a quite posh and upmarket area of North West London. I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions including birthday and ordinary family celebrations at this venue. Located to the right of this shop is painting and decorating shop and to the left is a stationery shop. The thing other than the local and convenient access for myself in Eastcote is that I have really been taken in by the high standards of service throughout the meal ordering and serving process. The staff are professional, attentive and courteous. The main reason I like the restaurant was based on seeing the food freshly...

London's best restaurant where you get to keep your shirt?

Advantages: Creative menu; delicious, reasonably priced food; friendly staff
Disadvantages: A little cramped, some pretentious choices

...travelling into Victoria, the coach station, or a variety of London bus routes. *Booking* Reservations can be made by calling or e-mailing (details at the bottom of the review) and I strongly suggest doing so. The restaurant was very busy and several groups of diners were turned away or asked to come back later. It?s a small venue, with perhaps 30 covers upstairs. There is a larger downstairs dining room, but I wasn?t entirely sure whether or not this was used for diners. It was being used for a large work function when we visited and I suspect that it?s principally used for functions. I e-mailed our booking a couple of weeks in advance and the reply was warm and polite, an unusual combination these days. *Décor and ambience* Bumbles is squeezed into a narrow frontage and it?s decidedly on the cozy side of things. I felt overly warm when we...

Afternoon Tea at Browns Restaurant and Bar

Advantages: Good value afternoon tea
Disadvantages: Slow service

...Recently one of my favourite things is afternoon tea. You would think that living in London it would be easy to find somewhere to have tea and scones. Living in London it is usually fairly easy to find whatever food I feel like eating, no matter how exotic that food is but it seems that finding somewhere where you can have afternoon tea that doesn't cost upwards of £25 is close to impossible! I was even considering paying the £38 that it costs to have afternoon tea at the ritz but fortunately before I managed to book a table a friend of mine suggested we have afternoon tea at Browns. I agreed, thinking that she meant the hotel and that I would still be paying over £30 for tea. Fortunately the place she had in mind was Browns Restaurant and Bar, not Browns hotel. It has now become a regular thing for me and my friend to meet...

It started with a fish! J. Sheekey's Restaurant, London

Advantages: Wonderful food, service, location... what's not to love?
Disadvantages: None

...Lovely Man and I met over a salmon. I ordered it, he cooked it, I ate it and asked to meet the chef. We were then set up on blind date two months later. Three years on (three years tomorrow, in fact) and we are married and looking forward to a fantastic future together. Slushy stuff aside, what we have mostly in common is food. He is a fantastic chef and I am a very accomplished eater. We both absolutely love fish and seafood and since we met, Lovely Man has been telling me about this restaurant in London. He went there with some fellow Cheffy friends a few years ago and couldn't wait to share the experience with me. And what an experience! J. Sheekey's is set just metres away from the Leicester Square tube station and the hustle and bustle of central London. I am a hick from the sticks and was worried that I would be...

LONDON'S CALLING

Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room

...). The room even though not brightly lighted is obviously well maintained by the cleaners. Enter through a further door to the bathroom come toilet. Again it is very clean in fact almost sparkly clean (passed criteria test 1) As it was tiddling (that?s polite for something else) down of rain we decided to eat in the hotel. The 372 restaurant was spotless, and modern with laminated flooring and side strip lighting. Staff despite be of foreign tongue did their utmost to accommodate my mobility needs, and were extremely helpful (pass criteria test 3). In addition we asked the concierge for some directions, which he gave in a polite simple manner. So easily in fact that we managed to get there and back without getting lost! Lastly on the criteria test is food. Like I said it was raining very heavy, so we opted to eat in one of the hotels five...

Review of The Strand Palace Hotel, London

Stranded in London!

Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned. Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...

Review of The Strand Palace Hotel, London

Probably the best restaurant I have visited!

Advantages: Excellent food, presentation and service.
Disadvantages: ....still thinking!!

...Myself and my husband visited Patterson's Restaurant for a pre-theatre meal last night - I had such a wonderful time I wanted to review it as soon as possible! The restaurant is located on Mill Street in London W1, it was only a couple of minutes walk from the London Palladium where the show was, so it was perfect. The closest tube is the Oxford Circus, which took approximately 5 minutes in heals!! Mill Street, where the restaurant is located is a small side street and the restaurant would be easily missed if you did not know what you were looking for. The windows were fully covered with Hessian roman blinds which allowed customers to see out of the restaurant, but passers by not see in, which I thought was a nice idea. We had an early booking which was at 5:30pm due to the start time of the show, hence we were the first...

Diamond review  Harvester Restaurants

Advantages: Always one close by, quick turn out, children are welcome and catered for.
Disadvantages: Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.

...Harvester Restaurants Restaurant Reviewed: Stag and Hounds Winchester Road Basingstoke Hampshire (next to Comet and Home Base) The Harvester chain of Restaurants have over 2000 outlets across the United Kingdom and owned and operated by Mitchells and Butlers, who claim to be the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, bars and restaurants. Harvester claim to offer healthy eating, drinking and entertainment in one reasonably priced outlet. **** Parking and Getting a Table ***** As with most of the Harvester's I have visited, there is usually ample free parking at the rear of the establishment. However on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch times these places are heaving with customers, so avoid the crowds, go early and if possible ring and reserve a table. The Stag and Hounds is no exception but fortunately...

Streets of London, absolutely the best restaurant on the coast

Advantages: Great food, great prices, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, family welcome
Disadvantages: I can't have the chef at home :(

...Having lived on the Costa Del Sol myself I have visited my fair share of restaurants from Sotogrande to Malaga. I have to say that the streets is the best restaurant I have dined in to date. The food is absolutely mouth watering, the customer service is fantastic even down to the fact that the owner brought down his little boy who played with my children during our stay. He sat and had a conversation with us about all sorts and was generally very friendly. I do admit to drinking a little more Sangria than I should and even living in Spain it's harder than you think to get Sangria freshly made and not out of a tap-not here! Freshly made with fresh ingredients right before your eyes. The value for money in unbelievable, we fed our family of five with three course meals for 70 euros. I did not begrudge him a penny of it because...

Michelin Man's Restaurant

Advantages: Lovely, lovely food, surroundings and atmosphere
Disadvantages: Pricey - needs to be a special occasion

...This review actually refers to Bibendum and not the Oyster Bar downstairs. Bibendum is housed on the first floor of the old Michelin building. We went there for Sunday lunch at the beginning of May, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the surroundings. We tend to visit these types of restaurant for Sunday or Saturday lunch, as they offer the same quality food they would in the evening, but at a fraction of the price. We were able to book our table for 1pm a few weeks in advance, and none of our party of four had ever eaten here before. The entrance to the restaurant for those who haven't visited before could be quite confusing, as it isn't really properly signed from outside the building. We ended up entering through the Oyster Bar on the ground floor, but subsequently found out that the restaurant does have it's own ground...
