...It's almost impossible to avoid pulling at schooldisco - almost everyone is young,reasonably good-looking and amazingly flirtatious. The school uniform thing probably helps as well, not least because it dissolves inhibitions - when you already look absurdly like an extra from Grange Hill or a Soho sex show, there seems very little point in preserving your dignity. That said, it's also great for a night out with friends - the eighties and seventies hits make everyone feel warm and nostalgic (unless they're incredibly cool and contemptuous towards anything that could be considered cheesy). We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. ...Theres a clue in the name here. School dinners bar/restaurant, situated just round the corner from Farringdon tube station in London, is a great venue for your hen/stag/party night out. The theme, as you've guessed is being back at school and if you go there expecting to just have a good night out with your mates you will be dissapointed because you will be forced to have a great night out with everyone in attendance! From the Eaten boys to the St Trinian girls, from the headmaster Mr R U Tuckman to the headmistress Mrs M E Bedworthy, the costumes and characters are all there and are all good at their roles. Stranded in London!

Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned. Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...

LUXURY IN LONDON!

Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc

...In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend in London with my grandma. I?m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn?t wait to go. One thing I hadn?t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. I reckoned that we wouldn?t be spending too much time in the hotel itself, as we were going to be very busy, so as long as it had two beds, a bathroom and some sort of wardrobe I?d have been happy. I knew the name of the hotel was The Grosvenor, however I didn?t have a clue what its reviews were like, or in fact how many stars it had. ...our parents. We stayed in Baden Powell House and each room housed 16 of us in triple bunk beds. It was so exciting having so many of us in a room that we didn't sleep for the whole week! We saw the sights of London and enjoyed being responsible for ourselves and our room (even if we did lose our door key card five times during the week!) I remember being really sick all week (which I have since realised was the start of my anxiety disorder) but I still had an amazing time. Getting away with murder In the first few years of secondary school I was a little bit naughty, not enough to be in severe trouble but I was often getting told off and caught out. Eventually I realised that I needed to be a bit tactful. By year 10 my best friend Kim and I had begun to master being naughty but looking good!! We developed a whole plan for it...

...I'm a big fan of the tycoon series of games - mall tycoon, zoo tycoon, casino tycoon etc so I thought that school tycoon would be another game to add to that list. I bought it for £5 at PC world and, at that price, you pretty much can't go wrong! There are a couple of different modes to this game. There is the story mode, where you have to build a school from scratch on a limited budget and operate at a profit but also meet the standards of education that you need to achieve eg sports/discipline/attendance etc. You can do this by employing the right (strict) teachers. This is where the challenge lies as obviously there is a trade-off between employing the best teachers and paying lower wages. You also get to design the layout of your school and choose what to build and where. There are facilities such as cafeterias, staff rooms...

Disadvantages: there are only seven !

...Lord , I'm not sure if I have 10 . Well , not " best " in the usual sense of the word where everyone is doing something good , studious and productive , and at the end of it they are presented with a nice certificate and some house points If that's what your expecting of MY school days , then maybe you'd better stop reading now ? So these are the best from my point of view . The ones I remember most vividly , the ones I enjoyed the most regardless of anyone else's enjoyment or lack of it , and the ones that just stand out from every other routine day for whatever reason .. They wont necessarily be in chronological order , I'll just write them down as they occur to me . I leave it to you to keep up ?.
