...On a holiday in December 2009 I visited South City Mall in Calcutta no less than 4 times during a 19 day stay. That?s a lot for me as in the UK I live less than 5 miles away from Westfield Shopping Centre in West London and haven?t visited that even once since it opened over a year ago and only visit Brent Cross Shopping Centre maybe once a year which is just half an hour away by car.
South City Mall was completed during early 2008 just after my previous visit in late 2007 and I was extremely impressed on my first visit at how clean and smart it all looked.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that I'm sure not many of you will have heard of Chopping Mall or the fact that it is a horror film written and directed by Jim Wynorski and released in 1986.
I like tor reminisce about some of the films produced in the 80's because most of them were classic films and we sort of got used to the unknown actors providing naff performances because the plots were imaginative, the music was cool but more importantly because they were entertaining.
For me Chopping Mall is one of those films that I remember because it was so bad, that it was actually good!

Well Westfield London finally opened at the end of October 2008, along with some huge public transport changes in the area and having now visited this retail behemoth, I am full of awe at the finished product.
Going Shopping
Westfield is like nothing London has ever seen before. Sure there are huge retail malls at Lakeside and Bluewater, but they aren't IN London. This is entirely new for Greater London - and to be specific, inner London.
I have seen few shoppingmalls on the scale of Westfield - the only one that even comes close that I have visited within the UK is the Trafford Centre - but this one is more like the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas - a mixture of high street names and designer brands, albeit with less parking spaces. There are over 260 stores to be found here.

It's directly linked to the Monument Metro station , which has a Bank of Scotland and Barclays cash machine. It also connects directly to Fenwicks department store.
The basement is taken up by TK Maxx, Cafe 1860 and a Toni & Guys hairdresser. The mall boasts a three story Virgin, a two storey Newcastle United shop and a two story Evans. Also on the ground floor are a Boots, Body Shop , Gadget Shop , Card Shop and Phone shop.
The first floor has a First Sports and the top floor has various restaurants including , Pizza , Fish and Chips , Chinese, Baked potatoes and sandwiches.
Its a pleasant enough place to shop and is located in the centre of Newcastle. From here you can spend a smal fortune on none essential goods, and get something to eat....

...bigger retail mecca (complete with bowling lanes and an ice skating rink) on the outskirts of Lemesos (Limassol). The hot weather, boredom, and a sort of morbid curiosity compelled me to go out and seek one of these air-conditioned sanctuaries, so we set out for the Mall of Cyprus on a particularly hot and sticky Saturday morning. My wife fancied some shopping, but I went solely to bear witness to the slow but sure demise of the Cypriot way of life.
GETTING THERE
The Mall of Cyprus is on an industrial estate in the non-descript suburb of Strovolos, just to the south of Lefkosia, and is clearly sign-posted off the main A1 motorway. There is plenty of free car parking on site (1500 spaces), but head straight down into the lower level car parks to avoid cooking your car in the sun.

...Mumz Mall has a great variety of products for sale. Each shop is unique and run by a work at home mum. You can find handmade clothing, bath and body products, jewellery, baby bits and bobs. There are slings, glassware, gifts and lots more. With new shops opening up all the time. You can spend many an hour browsing! All my purchases have been great quality. The shop owners seem to care about your satisfaction as well as earning a living. That means alot to me and that is what makes me go back and shop over and over. Supporting a small business always feels good! Overall a great experience. I would recommend Mumz Mall to anyone that likes handmade or unique items. Once you start shopping there you will see what I mean....

Advantages: Consisitently lovely coffee. Disadvantages: Sometimes if you are late, the cakes have all sold out!

If you like proper coffee, go to Riccos. They also serve soft drinks too! Last time I was there, I was tucking into Strudel, drinking a delicious cappuccino and Gerry Rafferty Baker Street came on the radio - I was in absolute heaven.

Disabled access:
We booked a disabled room though our room was in my opinion a standard one. It had no grab rails, though was big enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair around. Access to the hotel by wheelchair is done by a side street (Exeter road) where there is a home made style ramp covering part of two large steps. However, once up the steps you are in a difficult position again, there are two sets of NON automatic doors to contend with. Luckily I had my other half to help me; otherwise a stay in this hotel might not have been...

...Before booking my recent trip to Houston, Texas with my other half, we looked into what to expect when we were there, activities to do and places to visit. The Galleria Mall is the official 7th largest Mall in America. Seeing this and knowing just how much myself and my fiancé like shopping, I booked our hotel just a few blocks down the road from the mall, with every intent of visiting.
Located in the "up-town" part of Houston, named "The Galleria District" this mall stands proud covering nearly 3 million square feet of space (this includes the 2 tower blocks and all of the office blocks located on the land)
The mall itself is laid out over 3 floors with the bottom floor having an ice rink in the centre and home to the food court. There were many places to eat here including McDonalds and various other fast food places, as well...
