...West End Live Weekend My mum was coming up to London for the weekend so I decided to have a look in Time out to see if anything was going on in London that weekend, to my surprise and delight I discovered that a weekend event called West End Live was taking place. As many of you know I am trained in Performing Arts and enjoy going to see musicals so this was right up my street. When was it on? Top quality from the West End

Advantages: Energetic display, entertaining.
Disadvantages: You must be joking!

...surprising as he had just finished starring opposite Jerry Lewis in the acclaimed feature film "Funny Bones" and had finished starring in his own hit TV show "The World of Lee Evans". But despite the sub standard setting he still manages to turn out one hilarious anecdote after the other. One sketch that really sticks in my memory includes a story in which he asks a person for directions in a busy place. It turns out that the guy is a complete moron and with Lees' visual effects and comic voices a classic sketch is born; I have since then seen this story being told by him in more recent shows such as Wired and Wonderful. Riverbank Park Plaza - hotel is cheap and convenient for West End

Advantages: Cheap if you get a discount, very convenient for West End
Disadvantages: Rooms not ready, facilities that didn't work, requests that got lost, wrong keys for room

...expensive and breakfast is not included as part of the discounted price (and, sadly, not advertised on their website for me to confirm the current prices, but it was well over my usual £5 for a cup of tea and slice of toast limit.). There is a supermarket in walking distance if you want a cheap breakfast. The main attraction of the hotel for us was its convenient location to the West End. Indeed, when we were staying there, the tube lines were out of action for the second and third days, so we got to see how convenient it was as we took taxis everywhere. A cab to the West End takes about 5-10 minutes and cost about £10 a go (even on a Saturday night) - extremely reasonable when split amongst four or five people. Thistle London Heathrow : Best Avoided

Advantages: Close to airport and shuttle bus runs frequently
Disadvantages: Bad service, dated rooms

...I've stayed at this hotel as I attended an event held in the conference centre. Parking was difficult, mainly because this hotel offers a park and stay facility for Heathrow Airport and after driving around each area of the car park we ended up parking at the side of the exit road. It was good job that we stayed on site for the time we were there as I wouldn't have fancied my chances at parking up again if we left and came back. When we checked in we were told that a pre-authorisation charge would be put on the account until we checked out. This is fair enough, obviously they don't want people charging items to their room and not paying, but our pre-authorisation charge was £400 - nearly three times what our total bill would be. Trash at The End

Advantages: cheap strong good quality vodka, a dress code that suits my wardrobe, sofas and the proximity to nightbuses
Disadvantages: The loo paper always runs out fairly early on and if you put your drink down on a table for more than 30 seconds it's whisked away

The Moon Under Water (West End)

Advantages: Great value and quality food, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere
Disadvantages: Uneven service, awkward queue system

...charged us double the £9 we paid each. The environment was warm and relaxing in stark contrast to the hustle bustle outside and we had a really good time. The food was simple but delicious - how pub food should be! I will definitely be trying a Wetherspoons pub closer to home and see how different the quality is between branches. We didn't stay for drinks so I can not comment on whether the drinks were reasonably priced. At late lunchtime, I would not say that the pub is hugely family friendly, although there was one family eating at the same time we were. The pub is very noisy and dominated by men so young children could be a little frightened. LUXURY IN LONDON!

Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc
Disadvantages: expensive!!!

...In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend in London with my grandma. I?m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn?t wait to go. One thing I hadn?t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. ...My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel some time back on a weekend break in London. The Rathbone is in a great location in central London in the heart of the West End so is ideal if you are planning on shopping on Oxford Street, Regent Street, New Bond Street or Covent Garden. It is also near the restaurants and bars in Soho as well as seveal theatres. It's less than 5 minutes walk from either Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Street tubes so really easy to get about. The hotel has a grand entrance with large chandaliers and an impressive lift. The staff on reception were exteremely polite and respectful.
