Whooping it up at Whoop Hall

...My two friends and I recently ventured on a Murder Mystery weekend. We went to the strangely named Whoop Hall. For three months before our stay we were making jokes about ?Whooping it up at Whoop Hall? and generally being stupid, we felt really stupid when we found out its actually pronounced ?hoop? not ?whoop?. The Whoop Hall is a family run hotel just outside of Kirkby Lonsdale in the Lune Valley of the Lake District. Close to the M6, situated where the Lake District, Yorkshire and Lancashire meet. It?s only fifteen minutes from Kendal and its famous yummy mint cake. A must have Pads!!

Advantages: Shock absorbant, great design, very cheap

...Im big into boxing, and i use so many pieces of equipment, but i will have to say that the Lonsdale Curved Hook and Jab Pads are a fantastic piece of kit and a defininate recommendation from me to anybody!! With an old school look about them, they look fantastic and well designed. With a chocolate brown leather and white stitching, they are definately unique. Most people tend to worry about risk of injury when boxing, but from my experience these pads are designed in a way to prevent this risk, with a thick shock absorbant foam padding inside, risk of injury to the hands and wrist are greatly reduced. As from the name the pads are designed for all types of punches, giving you a wider range of training activities in one small product, and for a great price too! I would definately have to recommend this product to anyone willing to...

An engrossing political thriller

Shoes, and not just for the Office!

Advantages: lots of variety, designer, friendly staff, on the main street
Disadvantages: pricey

..., stilettos, sandals, wedges, kittens...the list is endless! It's any shopaholics shoe heaven! There are a lot of good, well known designers in the shop too, some of which are more expensive than others. A few of these include Ugg, Converse, Lacoste, Babycham and Lonsdale. There are many ranges and designers, bound to be one to suit your preference! I especially like their range of Converse All-Stars, as they offer a wide range of colours and designs. There was a really nice pair of pink check ones last year, shame I didn't get round to buying them...! And you can customise your shoes too! Office sell a variety of funky shoe laces to replace the boring, plain ones in your trainers! They had some cute black and red ones with music notes on them, which I thought were quite cute! They also sell insoles etc too to keep your feet comfortable...

Capilano suspension bridge - not for those with vertigo

...We recently spent an enjoyable morning at Capilano suspension bridge and park in Vancouver. It is situated in North Vancouver and it is therefore neccessary for most tourists to cross the water to get there. This was done efficiently and cheaply by using the seabus from the waterfront and then a bus to Capilano. the crossing on the seabus is enjoyable in itself and gives wonderful views of the city.The buses and the drivers are helpful. Apart from the suspension bridge itself, a breath taking 450 feet across and 230 feet above the river, there are some very nice walking trails, demonstartions of carving and dancing, a good gift shop and places to eat. Before going back on the seabus we visited Lonsdale market where we bought a delicious picnic lunch. A good time was had by all....

The Day of the Jackal

...Forsyth's best selling Novel, also named The Day Of The Jackel,and The original film With Edward Fox portrays the book far more realistically, and follows the books story line much more then the Bruce Willis and Richard Gere version of the film called The Jackal. This film is a superbly directed and produced film and Edward Fox plays the character of The Jackal extremely well giving the film amazing quality. I would highly recommend it to everyone and it is a definite film the can be watched repeatedly. More than meets the eye

...You may well have seen the film (it starred Sean Connery and Michael Lonsdale) but whether you have or not, you simply have to read the book. Pioneering in the field of mediaeval crime, this is an intricate and fascinating account of how Brother William and his novice investigate the murders going on at the Abbey of Melk at the beginning of the second millennium. The whole mystery is set against a backdrop of religious life and conflict within the church, as a debate on ecclesiastical poverty is due to take place at the Abbey. The crime is ingenious, its solution ever more so and the whole of it hinges on the characters and the situation in which they find themselves. The labyrinthine nature of the puzzle is no barrier to clarity of writing and the book is both engaging, amusing, delightful and often very moving. A great read...

...I went to my library to find some good reads. I tend to read adult fiction books as the "teenage" stuff is to boring for me. I came across this book and I decided to take it out. The story is supposedly set in the Notting Hill area of London. In this area, the richest of the rich live in big houses with their six figure salaries. The biggest part of this story is the garden that all the neighbours have access to, and this causes havoc! The two main characters are Mimi & Clare. Mimi is the mum-of-three who balances her home life with her working life, which includes chatting up men at dinner parties for newspaper articles. Clare, Mimi's best friend, has a more laid back approach. She loves working in the gardens (so called Lonsdale Gardens) and concentrating on work. ...Am I the only person not to be taken in by this company? I cannot deny that it is cheap - that goes without saying, but isn't there more to retail than that? If I just wanted cheap I would never leave home. Sometimes I want advice, sometimes I want service, sometimes I want quality and if I am shopping I most certainly want it to be a good experience. I love sport, I love branded clothing and so I have visited Sports Son numerous occasions. Mainly because I keep forgetting how bad the experience was last time! What is the experience? You go in the store - if you can get in for all the crappy umbrellas and buckets full of socks in the entrance. You can't move between the mountains of stock piled high left right and centre, 99% of which is awful Donnay, Slazenger, Lonsdale or whatever other brand owner Mike Ashley has bought...
