iPod is unbelievable

Advantages: High Qaulity Screen Resolution, Good Performance, Smooth Screen Touch
Disadvantages: Quite pricey

Ok, here's the things I love about iPod touch: * The screen touch ability ...i cant really describe the experience u must try it to believe it . *Seamless connectivity to any WiFi. *Apple lossless audio playback: now this was the feature that my ears were shocked by. I listened to similar music on both Touch and classic iPod (apple lossless codec) and they have done something with the playback of this version! it sounds crisp and clear! * iCal, contacts, YouTube feature are all some of my favorites as well. There is a different "feel" to having those funny videos on the fly and showing them to friends semi-intantly. *Granted they are a bit off on the overall features but no one up to this point built a PDA application which runs like a desktop class application....

Advantages: nice design, compact, headphones a sensible length!
Disadvantages: no apple lossless suppport

...noticeable! So be prepared to change volume if it gets too loud! ~Supported files Usual iPod suspects... AAC, MP3 et al. But NOT apple lossless files... which kind of tarnishes the overall experience as all my files are in lossless! Remedied this by replicating my iTunes library and converted the lot to AAC - not idea, but a simple solution! ~ Importing As with any apple product - the shuffle relies on iTunes... there are various ways you can fill this... my top tip is to work out when you are most likely to use the shuffle (i.e the gym) and add music that will suit that particular scenario (for me i crank it full of fast paced industrial/metal). You can then either: drag and drop, auto fill or sync auto (but remember there is only 1GB of space!) I use the auto fill method which works a treat... At this point I feel it is wise...

The iPod goes from strength to strength

Now on to the sound quality, and its all good, the sound quality is amazing, I would make a few recommendations here, one been, when you rip music off of a CD, I have found it best to RIP using the "APPLE LOSSLESS FORMAT" with this the music is ripped at a very high bit rate and as such provides the best sound quality. Secondly, in my opinion the supplied earphones are not really up to the job, so I would recommend purchasing some after market earphones; I use the Shure EC4 earphones and the sound quality is fantastic once you have found the correct sized ear pads, but be warned these earphones are not cheap, but I dare say that you could get some cheaper earphones and these would still be better than the supplied Apple earphones. Ipod Classic - 160GB

Advantages: Size, Workmanship, Functionality
Disadvantages: Zero support for some old peripherals, crashes car stereo , Bit heavy!

...and click 'get album artwork' - this did take a while... but worked! Whilst coverflow looks nice I don't think it adds extra functionality to the IPod... more a space draining quirk! It does look awesome though ;-) Sound playback is the usual high standard - but this is really down to you, the user - I have all my imported (off CD) music set to apple loss-less. Which will take up more space, but with 160 GIGS to play with... it is not a great deal more! It must be said - the headphones supplied are useless... get some Sennheiser CX300 - the added clarity is noticeable - and you do not need it as loud! The hat trick is that the ear buds stay in my ear when I am working out. Video playback; to test this I ripped Family Guy from dvd to IPod using the ImToo software package. Quality was good - but KILLS your battery! So not ideal...

PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...,it'll give you 7.1 loss-less audio through an HDMI, so I wont get the full effect til I up-grade my amp, still running on 5.1 through an optical cable, which is fine, it was a while before I figured out how to get 5.1, set the system to use optical, but my amp was only registering the sound as pro-logic II, eventually found that I needed to change another setting from 'linear PCM' to 'bitstream', which the system advised me not to do! Games-Lets face it, this is the most important factor in why we part with our cash! Sorry, but the system get's second prize in this contest, the 360 takes the crown here. Touch it

Advantages: Great clear screen, durable front(screen), decent sound quality, intuitive
Disadvantages: Low discspace(only 16B), can' install applications

...my iPod in the same pocket as my keys for a month and it hasn't got a scratch. And it even has a sensor which adjusts the brightness of the screen in conjunction with the light conditions for optimal power usage. Not that the battery is anything to bash at, it can last you all day with excessive use, I usually use mine 7-10 hours a day with a bright screen and volume at the max. I did encounter once I had some issues getting it to play an mp3 file, but once I converted it to an apple lossless file, that problem was gone. The only real downside to it are the facts that it only has 16GB of space which in my opinion is a little small(but considering how slender it is I can live with it) and that you can not install your own apps unless you jailbreak it. Overall a great mp3 player for the person with a few extra quids to spit in...
