A Diamond of a Comedy!

Mistrial - Lou Reed

Advantages: a couple of decent songs
Disadvantages: too much avearge material and average production

...Arguably the least regarded Lou Reed album, Mistrial just seems to receive indifference from most people. It doesn't upset anyone, like Metal Machine Music did, nor does it excite audiences in the way that Transformer did. Mistrial consists of ten average songs, played competently, sung ok, and produced ok. And that's about it. There's nothing that really stands out, the resolutely 1986 production utilises very basic drum machines for the first and last time in Lou's history, and everything sounds rather boomy and upfront, but hollow and lacking in substance. The ttle track at least features a cracking melody, but Mama's Got A Lover, whilst not a bad song, sounds like a bad Lloyd Cole copy. A rather bizarre achievment sounds like a bad copy of someone who sounds like a bad copy of Lou Reed. "Video Violence" has a sparky sound but...

Are Diamonds for ever?

Advantages: Cheap, you can choose not to pay for some services, they will actully insure my car.
Disadvantages: You can't use them if you're a bloke.

...Hmmm... I dunno. There's clearly a pattern in these reviews which goes, "great until you make a claim" but then find me an insurance comapany to which that doesn't apply? I found Diamond via the confused.com website. I have quite a low opinion of the insurance industry which is probably not merited but for the most part I believe you are paying to comply with the law and not much else. At this point I should say that Diamond only provide insurance for women drivers (sorry boys). The rationale for this is that statistically women drivers have less accidents than men and so if they aim at just women there'll be less claims and they can keep their premiums low. WHY DID I CHOOSE DIAMOND? Firstly, because they were cheap. Secondly, well because even the best insurers don't offer a great service. I used to be insured...

Diamond's Really Do Cost Blood - Blood Diamond

...Personal Opinion I watched Blood Diamond last night and it was an absolutely amazing film that was completely absorbing and gripping. It is a 2006 action/adventure drama film co-produced and directed by Edward Zwick, director of Glory and The Last Samurai. It stars Leonado DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. The film was put forward for five Academy Awards of which included Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Supporting Actor (Hounsou) I admire Leonardo DiCaprio for his acting abilities he is a first class actor who is able to get deep into the character. As a character actress myself I know it is not easy to dig deep into a character that is so emotionally challenging as DiCaprio played.
