Reviews of loudspeakers philips pc multimedia home theatre speaker system
5.1 for your PC, Philips doesn't disappoint!
Review of Philips MMS 460 PC multimedia home theatre speaker system by
markays
Advantages: Good value, designed for compatibility for a large selection of sound cards
Disadvantages: audible hiss when quiet
...is not noticeable when music is playing and is not an indication of a deeper sound quality issue, but it does exist and makes it difficult listening to anything extremely quietly. I don't want to alarm - when sitting further than 60 cm from any speaker, the hiss is not even audible. I have known many other 5.1 systems do the same.
Conclusion
If you like listening to the loud dynamic sounds of DVDs and excellent clarity and fidelity (for the money), or want to get some bass out of your pc, this system is definitely for you. If you rarely use your PC for DVDs or home entertainment, I would recommend a standard set of stereo speakers, these speakers would be wasted on you....

Brilliant Philips multimedia 2.1 computer speakers
Review of Philips SPA7300 PC multimedia speaker system by
tomo359
Advantages: excellent sound quality, look great, subwoofer with seperate bass control
Disadvantages: None i don't think.
...General:
I love Philips products, in my house i have so many Philips products and they have always been great and look fantastic and these PC speakers are no different. They look great, sound great and will fit into any home computer system.
Price:
I bought them for around £30 new on Amazon and they arrived within two days. There are quite a few places these speakers can be bought. I think they are available at Argos, PC World and many other large retailers but i found that the cheapest prices were on Amazon and other internet sites. Pc World have them for around £40.
How they arrived:
They were packed very well. I opened the box and found everything that was surposed to be there. The two speakers, subwoofer, all the cables and a very simple instruction step by step guide to connect all the speakers and get them working.
Connection...

Whats realy up with the speaker system
Review of Philips DSS 370 by
SkullGuy
Advantages: Loud
Disadvantages: software support
...First i have to say the speakers look great. The two speakers are big and make a great sound, at last the most important is the subwoofer in the center wich can move the earth with the basses. You can connect this speaker system to your computer with USB, that means that we don´t need a sound card. The loudspeakers have digital buttons. The speaker system has the option to turn on "Incredible Surround" sound on or "Digital Bass Boost". The speakers turn off automaticly when there no sound for a long time so no power is used for nothing. The support on the philips.com page is realy poor, you will hardly find this DSS 370 speaker system. The RMS power is 2x15+30 Watt. With the speakers you get a software CD, a audio cable, usb cable,(a lot of cables)... I like this speakers they are realy loud. (and my mum HATEs them). I hope i could help...

Not for Sound Lovers(fanatics)
Review of Logitech Z 640 PC multimedia home theatre speaker system by
Asistentza
Advantages: High Sound quality, affordable
Disadvantages: No High and Mid range sounds volume controller
...The Logitech Z 640 is a pc multimedia home theatre speaker system that will satisfy most users by having a high sound quality, low price and a nice design, however i do not recommend it to sound fanatics. All volume controls are on the center speaker -that means that you have to keep the center speaker in your range(hand-range). The center speaker has the power switch, a volume control, a front-rear fader, a matrix switch(for when it's used 4.1), another volume control for the center speaker only. What it lack's is the high and mid range sounds volume control, the subwoofer volume control is on the subwoofer (on the rear part ) so it 's kinda' out of reach... that can be annoying.
For someone who just installs the speakers, and isn't "screwing around with the controls testing sound, music etc" it's ok, but otherwise you will just get...

Labtec Pulse 285 PC multimedia speaker system
Review of Labtec Pulse 285 PC multimedia speaker system by
liamscott1989
Advantages: 2 Speakers, 1 Subwoofer . Compact . Very Good Value .
Disadvantages: You may prefer a more powerful subwoofer for more bass .
...I used to work in a warehouse that stocked these and all the other brands/models. I got bored one day and tried most of them out with my iPod to see which speakers were the best! I ended up with this Labtec Pulse 285 and here is why!
I compared:
Labtec Pulse 285
Philips SPA1300 2.1 Speakers.
Philips SPA2600 5.1 PC Speakers.
+ more... (sorry i can't remember the others!)
Don't be fooled by the 'seemingly' low 6 Watt figure. On paper 6 Watts may seem a bit weak next to the competitors but when tested among 5 other setups these speakers are very loud and even still very clear with volume at 100%. Don't get me wrong you can't start up your own nightclub with these but you get a lot more than you need for PC speakers!
In reality the only difference you notice between the price ranges was the amount of bass being produced from the subwoofers...

logitech 5.1 speaker system for TV
Review of Logitech X 540 PC multimedia home theatre speaker system by
jupiter28
Advantages: cheap, good sound quality and easy to control
Disadvantages: needs to be powered off from socket as draws power
...This is a PC home theatre system, but I use it in the bedroom and connect it to an LCD Samsung television because it doesn't have decent speakers and I did not want to spend too much money
I bought this for around £50 and had to buy converters from standard audio to headphone jack. Not too much of a problem but a consideration if you want to use it with a television.
Standard home theatre system, 5.1, you can use the controls of the sub-woofer to make it louder. A matrix button gives surround sound effect
The only downside is that even when you turn it off at the appliance switch it still draws power and makes a low buzzing noise so I need to turn this off at the socket switch each night.
Also, the cables are not really long enough (just over metre) to run under the bed to either side, so I needed to use extender cables....

Taking you to your sonic edge
Review of Philips Sonic Edge 5.1 PSC605 by
foehammer
Advantages: Great 5.1 surround sound, low cost
Disadvantages: Hard to track down this item
...a visit to the Philips website to download the latest updates, the product support from philips is great, as even with products they no longer supply they still provide updates and support for.
Sonic Edge supports the major sound standards for games as used by people like Creative (One of the most renowned sound card manufactuers in the PC world). It also has a technology for playing stereo soundtracks through surround sound speakers, and taking advantage, giving you a fuller effect, at times sounding like your in a concert hall. It has a digital output for recording to other digital devices, such as Mini Disc players, external Stereo or CD-RW drives.
The sound card's software offers a couple of neat tricks, such as the QSizzle and Qrumble which minimise the sometimes poor quality of MP3 tracks you may have downloaded. Bundled software...

Excellent value for money
Review of Creative Inspire T6060 PC multimedia home theatre speaker system by
Hutcho
Advantages: Value for money, excellent performance/sound, dongle to control sound
Disadvantages: None so far
...I recently purchased a new computer, and with it I bought a set of these T6060 speakers.
I truly was not expecting the type of sound these speakers put out. For 50 pounds, they are really on the entry level side of the market however these speakers really pump.
The sub is super punchy and I actually have to turn it down to 5 (from 10) or it's just too much in most instances. The forward facing speakers all have tweeters in them which makes the high end good too.
The speakers come with a dongle to control the sound and level of bass and includes an input for something like a discman/ipod and for headphones.
I was looking at the Logitech X-530's as well which are around the same price. I haven't heard these speakers, but I can't imagine they would be any better than these.
Overall, really great value for money and sound quality I...

A Good TV For A Good Price
Review of Philips 32PFL5522D by
Surj1
Advantages: Affordable, Good Variety of Connections, Simple to Set-Up
Disadvantages: Ineffective Surround Sound Mode
...The Philips 32PFL5522D is a LCD 32" HD ready TV. This TV is not one of Philips top of the range TV's from there new line. Saying that it does have some cool features, pixel plus being one of them and 2 HDMIs (for HD ready devices). You dont get the new Philips pixel perfect HD E-Processing or the new back lighting system which is introduced in the top range in this line. Then again the TV does only cost around £400-£450.
Philips though have produced a good looking TV, which sits on a black glass table top swivel stand. It has a glossy all black face with silver column and buttons to give it that extra touch.
The TV has speakers which are descreetly tucked in under the screen and the silver comumn has a neat built in loop to keep the cables and wires well hidden from view. This gives you an end result of a compact and organised TV...
