...This Steve Buschemi's debut as writer and director. Made in 1996 it is a relatively unknown film but was a critcal if not commercial succes for Buschemi The film is about an alcoholic named Tommy (Steve Bushemi), the film starts and he is trying to wangle one more drink out of the barmaid 15 minutes after 'time'. The barmaid Connie(played by Carol Kane - Hester Street, Taxi) is obviously familiar and serves him with Tommy, which is an interesting tenet to the film as everyone knows everyone in this small suburb and everyone knows Tommy and he seems to recoil from it in shame. The bar 'Trees Lounge' is always populated by Tommy, an elderly alcoholic Bobby and another successful alcoholic Mike (Mark Boone Junior - Batman Begins, Lonesome Jim) Tommy starts to form a friendship with Mike thinks he is a looser. The Departure Lounge Cafe

Advantages: Lovely rural location, easy to get to, great food and pleasant staff.
Disadvantages: Does not take credit or debit cards and no Stella!

Curry, but no lounging!

...I found myself in Nottingham at on New Years Eve 2007 and, at the suggestion of a chum who is a big Gordon Ramsay fan, we went to a restaurant that the foul-mouthed chef had worked his magic on in his 'Kitchen Nightmares' TV show - Curry Lounge. I must admit I was a little unsure whether I actually wanted to visit a place that was in enough of a mess that Ramsay had to sort it out, but I assumed that it would probably be fine after he'd finished with it. Besides, it was good enough to win second place in the curry of the year (for Nottingham, I think) beforehand, so it should be pretty good, I thought... Gorgeous dolls house furniture!

Advantages: Well made, safe, robust
Disadvantages: None that I can see

...My niece has a beautiful dolls house called the Marlborough Dolls House which is a John Crane Pintoy product ? in fact I wrote a review about it some time ago. There are various sets of furniture available to fit in this, or indeed any other, dolls house including bathroom, living room, kitchen, nursery and bedroom furniture. Earlier this year she received the set of living room furniture which she loves playing with and it is so cute I just had to tell you about it! ...have ever been in that actually takes your coat to a cloakroom! The dining area is upstairs. The furniture is modern and the chairs are large, high back, leather seats that are very comfortable. The decor is modern, but then this is to be expected since the Spice Lounge has only been open for a few months. The smell upstairs is fantastic. You can tell that you are in a curry restaurant, but unlike other curry houses in Norwich the smell is not too over powering. The atmosphere is very relaxed with soft lighting and soft music. The night I went there it was full of couples and small (quiet) parties. I don't think it is a place where large, rowdy groups would go and try and eat the chili fahl for a 'dare' whilst swilling down 10 pints of lager, being loud,rude, foul mouthed and abnoxious in the process. Advantages: Good quality, nice looking sofas
Disadvantages: Take forever to arrive, go somewhere smaller and you can take your suite away

..., which isn't guaranteed! The seat backs and arm cushions are attached to the sofa with zips, and one seat-back zip has broken just from our sitting against it! Perhaps not worth the money after all. I now think you're better off going into a less well known, smaller furniture retailer and buying a suite for about £500. It probably won't be ruined much before a DFS suite and it's not so gutting to have to replace!...

White, Sherbourne furniture - not wardrobes

Disadvantages: No measurements on initial plan, designer didn't give full options of various height/depth/widths.

Lots of flexibility regarding height, width and depth but designer tends to draw what THEY like, where THEY want it, so be ASSERTIVE and ask loads of questions about alternatives/options/measurements/positioning. Initially, we nearly ended up with low level bedside cabinets, hadn't initially been told we could have more suitable mid level - all because designer drew what SHE likes!! Also had to absolutely INSIST she move kneehole dresser to where I wanted it as opposed to where she wanted to put to be "symetrical" - who cares, it's MY bedroom. She chose 500mm deep dresser top, same as existing for "more floor space" (as fitted butting right up to wall as opposed to Schreiber self assembly which had 5" gap behind it - because of previous rad position, which would be moved for Sharps furniture, thus closing that gap...

A good furniture store

...DFS is a furniture shop that sells mainly sofas and armchairs as well as some additional accompanying furniture. The majority of their range is produced in high quality fabrics and leathers and appears to be very well made. We have just purchased our new sofa from there after looking for many weeks for the right "deal". Many of the furniture shops offered some great ranges and great prices but did not match our requirements exactly. Eventually we found DFS offering the ideal sofa and at half price. What we liked about DFS was the lack of "Hard Sell" tactics. There were plenty of sales staff around but none were hassling us to see if they could help. They made themselves obvious enough for us to ask if we needed assistance. The layout of their stores is both logical and functional. Nothing is too cluttered and the suites are layed out...

...Now that my son is has grown past playing with plasticine and slopping food everywhere into playing with girls and slopping beer everywhere, and my dog is too old and fat to jump on the furniture, it is with a certain sense of irony that I regard my latest purchase in the suite department. Why, oh why, oh why, oh w.........you get the idea, did I never, in the years during which the choice would have made my life easier, choose a leather sofa? At the beginning of last year, when my suite looked as if it had been used for practice scrums by the New Zealand All Blacks, those nice people at DFS had yet another sale! I allowed my brother to accompany me to the Dfs store in Carlisle because he loves shopping with me and some of my immaculate taste may one day rub off on him. Long Live the Live Lounge

Advantages: Great sense of fun and music abilty, lacking ego!
Disadvantages: The Automatic and Fiddy!

...Covers have always been a bit of a hit and miss affair. Some people do it well, some people don't. It can be commercial suicide and ruin artists' credibility. The recent trend over the years, pushed particularly by Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, and other ventures such as Warchild, is that an artist can perform live, or record a cover and still retain their credibility and not come over as a sell-out. Maybe it's just that people have lightened up a little, or maybe it is just because there are things like the Live Lounge, that encourage well-picked songs to do as a cover. Granted that the concept is not a new one, and even Jo would not say that. But, I think the idea of the Live Lounge is maybe new.
