...This Steve Buschemi's debut as writer and director. Made in 1996 it is a relatively unknown film but was a critcal if not commercial succes for Buschemi The film is about an alcoholic named Tommy (Steve Bushemi), the film starts and he is trying to wangle one more drink out of the barmaid 15 minutes after 'time'. The barmaid Connie(played by Carol Kane - Hester Street, Taxi) is obviously familiar and serves him with Tommy, which is an interesting tenet to the film as everyone knows everyone in this small suburb and everyone knows Tommy and he seems to recoil from it in shame. The bar 'Trees Lounge' is always populated by Tommy, an elderly alcoholic Bobby and another successful alcoholic Mike (Mark Boone Junior - Batman Begins, Lonesome Jim) Tommy starts to form a friendship with Mike thinks he is a looser. ...A couple of months ago, I had one of those crazy moments. I looked in the mirror and could see lines on my neck, so convinced myself that I urgently needed neck cream! Now you would think that neck cream is a pretty standard thing, but I looked online in all the obvious sort of places, yet found the choices were surprisingly limited, and from those that were available, I couldn't really find one that appealed. I knew Lush made a neck cream, but that it came in a small size and was pricey, but surprise surprise, I bought it anyway. ...Mirrors Edge is a fine game, Don't let me say it's not. But Mirrors Edge is a perfect example of a good game overcome with flaws. The idea and plot are original and very compelling, the kind of plot that would make a good movie and gameplay that challenges the tide of mainstream mediocrity that is poured forth from Game manufacturers these days. The first Person aspect Of the game is a welcome break; such games that allowed such ranges of movement include Assassins Creed, notably a third person experience. Mirrors edge made the brave attempt to put their game into first person to make the experience more personal, to put the player in the characters shoes. ...Ive been pretty bored this week, doing top secret government work...(maybe). So Ive spent alot of time by myself waiting for action. Yesterday was so boring that I decided to buy a paper, but the newsagent only had copies of " The Sport" or "The Mirror" by the time I got my fat ase out of bed this morning. I couldnot really be seen with"The Daily Porn" paper so The Mirror it was. First of all, I found the ink rubbed on to hands worse than other papers. A small point but in ths day and age I think printing ink and paper should be of a higher quality. The front headline was about Dannys from Popstars, girlfriend who had a bust up for two years with her mum over Danny....Who cares????. Tomorrow a three page colour supplement with more blured family photos... Yippey!!!.Im waiting to her what Marlenes budgie Joey was to say...

...I found myself in Nottingham at on New Years Eve 2007 and, at the suggestion of a chum who is a big Gordon Ramsay fan, we went to a restaurant that the foul-mouthed chef had worked his magic on in his 'Kitchen Nightmares' TV show - Curry Lounge. I must admit I was a little unsure whether I actually wanted to visit a place that was in enough of a mess that Ramsay had to sort it out, but I assumed that it would probably be fine after he'd finished with it. Besides, it was good enough to win second place in the curry of the year (for Nottingham, I think) beforehand, so it should be pretty good, I thought... THE LOCATION Curry lounge can be found at 110 Upper Parliament Street, 2 or 3 minutes walk from the tram stop in Nottingham town centre.
