.... The best time to shop is early evening, then the shops and markets come alive. I came home with beautiful pashmina's, lots of spices and a bongo drum! If I wasn't on a budget I would have bought lots more.
Hotels:
Sharm is still developing and new hotels are being built all the time. They really do have something for everyone here, from cheap and cheerful to luxury hotels such as the Ritz, Four Seasons etc. Most people opt for all inclusive, this represents great value. The rooms are generally of a high standard and very spacious. A few of my favourites are the Reef Oasis, the LTI Grand Azur and the Sultan Gardens where we stayed. The Sultan Gardens is run by a Canadian guy called Basel and he is so nice and friendly, as are his staff.
Food: this is always the most common complaint people have. You have to remember that us British make...
Advantages: open to all, free advice from alfa owners, spare parts, beautiful surroundings Disadvantages: its only held once a year!
...factors, paintwork, restoration, chrome, condition etc and at the end of the day prizes will be awarded to the best car in each category. However, most of the cars will be alfa owners who have just come to enjoy the day.
WHY THE EVENT IS SO USEFUL
The event provides the ideal opportunity to ask questions, share technical know-how, and meet other alfa owners. I have taken my alfa 146 (Boxer) and 146 2.0L'ti' (twin-spark) to the event several times. In my most recent visit this year (although it was pouring with rain!!) I was still approached by potential alfa owners -prospective buyers who asked me how the car was running and had an enquiry specific to the engine of a 'ti'. Now, you may be thinking well I can just get that sort of information from a car dealer?well, no, they don't know all the technical variations of the alfa romeo...

Back to the main subject. You can either choose to dial a prefix before every number you call, or get a box to do it for you. (I mean a box that Onetel provide and is packed full of wires etc- not an old shoe box that you can then transform in a Blue Peter style and pull out, declaring 'here's one I made earlier.'). They will deliver it for free and so thats no problem- unless there is a postal strike, or Bush accidentally presses the red button and the world suddenly ends with a big bang.
The quality of the phone line is the same as with BT, but when you get fed up talkin to someone you could alw ays st art to b rea k u p your wor ds an d s ay th e li ne is fau lty du e to on et el. But why would you want to do that?
A plus for Onetel (yes, a goodpoint is about to be made, so brace yourselves...

Advantages: Beach location & service Disadvantages: Developing area with little outside complex

This subject is perhaps the most worrying for travellers to Egypt and although I had no trouble on this visit, my wife did have one disturbed night with a fever but was fine in the morning and for the rest of the holiday. We had stayed at LTI Grand Azure, which is more accurately described as 5*, in 2004 but even there I suffered a little during that time. I don't believe food preparation hygiene is at fault at this hotel and any problems are due to a combination of things that no one can seem to pin point.
Meals.
The buffet restaurant provided a broad choice for all meals and even in busy periods the waiters were always smiling and polite. Queues were never a problem and the meal selection is very good. The waiters can be a little over zealous at times so beware...

...The LTI Bavaro Beach Resort is an excellent hotel set in beautiful landscaped gardens tended continuously with an impressive pool and a new smaller pool with swim-up bar and hottub.
Our room was very nice (with a fridge kept well stocked) in Block 6 - closest to the beach and furthest from the restaurants and theatre area-it might be the only exercise you get!
I emailed the hotel to request a room in the new Block 6 with a King-sized bed and full bathroom-those with twin beds mostly only have a shower and no bath.This block also has two balconies per room which is great if you can't devcide between a sea view and a pool view.
Plenty of choice for restaurants. Good choice at the main buffet restaurant for all meals. Waiter service sometimes a bit slow at busier times, especially refilling wine glasses! There are four speciality...
