Ludlow Castle
Advantages: Delightful castle in a delightful town
Disadvantages: None
...Ludlow Castle has a history stretching back to the 11th Century when work first began on it. It was considerably enlarged in the 14 Century and was the site of a skirmish in the Wars of the Roses a hundred years later. It was also a home for Edward IV’s sons who later became ‘The Princes In The Tower’ as well as Prince Arthur (Henry VIII’s brother) and Queen Mary Tudor spent some years here. This then is a Castle with a lot of history. So what is it like?
It remains not as a complete ruin and many of the features built over the ages remain almost in tact and certainly recognisable. There is the basic but classic Norman structure enhanced by additions of Medieval and Tudor origin. There is a moat with a bridge to cross to get into the inner area and the Keep. It would be particularly useful for any school...

Ludlow's Legend
Advantages: Excellent story and acting, amazing scenery and music
Disadvantages: none from me
...Colonel William Ludlow has had enough of the Army and the Government causing unnecessary carnage so he is now retired and has moved out to the remote foothill of the Montana Rockies where he built a ranch for his wife and three boys. He spend his time working on the ranch and teaching his boys the way of the land. He has a Indian helper and he is quite happy with his life. The wife cannot take the remoteness of this life and so moves back to the city leaving William to raise, Tristan, Samuel and Alfred alone.
The boys grow and soon they are young men and Samuel returns home after visiting their mother with his fiancé in tow, Susannah. Both other brothers find they have a keen interest in Susannah and have to hide their feelings but Tristan manages to get close to her which stirs something inside Susannah too. She soon settles into...

Let's do the Timewarp
Advantages: High street not yet cloned
Disadvantages: No Marks and Spencers
...Oh, come you home on Sunday when Ludlows streets are still,
And Ludlows bells are calling to farms and land and mill,
Or come you home on Monday when Ludlows market hums,
And Ludlows chimes are playing the conquering hero comes.
AE Housman.
Not much has changed since Housmans time. Ludlow, ignored by the 'improving' architects of the 1960's and 70's, does indeed seem to be in a bit of a time warp. 'Wer'e about 25 years behind the times here ' one local proudly told me. So why would I want to live here?
Before moving to South Shropshire I had never visited Ludlow,(or Shropshire) to be honest I didn't even know where it was. My first visit was when we were house hunting back in summer 2006. We had put our house on the market with the vague idea of moving to the country. We had seen the television programmes, we knew what we were...

The Outer Bailey, not the Old Bailey
Advantages: A good family day out
Disadvantages: You need a dry day
...Ludlow Castle.
Gosh it is nearly May and I am still doing my best to keep up with the new me and my new years resolutions; which in brief was to have more family time and get myself better. Well it?s the last Saturday in April and I am still keeping up the good work, we are having a family outing to Ludlow Castle which is only approx 45mins from our home; my youngest daughter has decided to joins us and with the walk around the lovely town of Ludlow and the Castle we headed for some fun and exercise.
After a lovely week of sunshine we woke up on the Saturday morning to heavy rain, but undeterred we still set off for our day out, someone must have been smiling down on us as half way to Ludlow the sun came back out and stayed with us for the duration of our visit. I have to also note this wonderful day as the first day...

Give Castle Lodge the Dodge
Advantages: A historical building
Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners
...CASTLE LODGE
It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here.
After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. We were all in high spirits and enjoying our food and refreshments, I dropped the bombshell that I wanted to see the house, they did try to dissuade me as they were now getting slightly tired and wanted to do a little retail...

LUDLOW THOMPSON - Avoid!
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Overpriced, Poor business model, no post-contract service for landlords, unhelpful, inefficient
...I have had one of the worst experiences in my life with LUDLOW THOMPSON and want to give people a 'heads up' so that they don't have to go through what my wife and I have been through.
Ludlow has been managing a property for me since March 2007. Problems:
(1) Pre-tenancy
The fiasco began with several 'negotiators' from the same office competing with each other - taking deposits etc even before I had a chance to agree anything with no obvious communication between them. Finally I agreed to a prospective tenant and a holding deposit was taken and his details were obtained for referencing. The tenant (from the Netherlands) was 'referenced' (in which - strangely - someone elses credit card details were taken instead of the actual tenants - so that rents could be charged if they later defaulted. I soon learned that the use of this card...

Very Happy with my letting with Ludlow Thompson
Advantages: found me a flat fast and with no or little hassle
Disadvantages: too many emails chase ups
...I was very pleased indeed with my letting with ludlow thompson lewisham branch.
I was able to view properties exactly when i wanted to so i did not have to take time off work. Also once the price was agreed the whole process was quick and painless.
Their web site including the referemcing system they used was great particularly the fact that i was able to complete their forms online in the comfort of my own home.
Perhaps they could have sent a lot less emails of new properties and chase texts and emails on the reference process but I thought overall the servcie was thorough.
Overall i was very happy with the negotiator who hamdled my let and the wholed process with ludlow thompson and they more than met my expectations...

Ludlow Thompson - AVOID - Ignorant, No Customer Service
Advantages: There are no advantages to using Ludlow Thompson
Disadvantages: Using Ludlow Thompson will cause you stress, frustration and upset
...My experience of Ludlow Thomspon has been a nightmare and is still ongoing.
We moved into a rented property in December and are still to have any verbal contact with our appointed client manager. We have a number of maintenance issues which were ignored for a long time by Ludlow Thompson despite numerous emails and phone calls requesting urgent contact, and are yet to be rectified.
We have already made 2 customer complaints but received no response at all. No one within the company will offer names or telephone numbers for any managers, there are no escalation paths for issues, and the customers get passed from pillar to post.
I have even emailed the customer services address as Su Colledge advises with all my contact details, yet still no one has contacted me. Empty words it seems.
They are ignornat and rude. Avoid Ludlow...

Phrazes for ALL
Advantages: A lyrical masterpiece
Disadvantages: 'River of Brakelights'
...Phrazes For The Young is another classic example of Julian Casablancas' lyrical aptitute and taste for a raw approach into life's tantalising experiences. He consistently touches on emotional understatements and preaches realistic sensitivities towards love, passion and, inevitably, notions of despair.
His laid-back slurring vocals arouse a Strokes-esque nostalgia, yet unique melodies permeate any ressurection of a 'typical Storkes' rhythm. Julian expresses his diversity in musical genre, introducing a rich blend of classical, soul and a reactionary outlook on eighties dance. Songs such as 'Out of the Blue' and 'Ludlow St' has established this album as an avenue into Indie revival with a twist.
With the prospect of an imminent Strokes regrouping and Julian's impending intention to follow up and cement his first piece of solo work...

The Bone Magician is more exciting than the Black Book of Secrets
Advantages: Highly entertaining
Disadvantages: You need to read the first in the series before this book.
...This story runs parallel with the action in the first book of the series The Black Book of Secrets and centres around the large city of Urbs Umida which Ludlow runs from in the 'Black Book', the putrifying river Foedus and the Nimble Finger Inn.
This book is better than the 'Black Book' in every way and that was a 5 star book. The presentation is much better. The extracts from the young heros journal are presented with a different, diary looking background instead of just the different font of the previous book and the story is stronger, with even better characters and a great murder mystery theme which is equally matched with some outstanding Dickensian 19th century type characters who are brilliantly brought to life.
The hero of this story is a young orphan boy named Pin, an innocent lad in a dangerous city, who is very similar to...
