...Back in October my boyfriend and I decided we'd go to New York to celebrate being together for three years. After MUCH trawling round travel agents and more hours than I care to remember searching the internet, I found the best available deal. Three nights in 3 star accommodation, and flights, for just £300 each. BARGAIN. (www.lastminute.com) I checked with other online travel agents and the exact same package was £200 more expensive, and the price grew every week until we actually went, so we really did get a fantastic deal. The catch was that we had to fly via Frankfurt. This wasnt such a problem on the way to NY as the transfer times meant we only had to wait half an hour between flights, but coming back we were stuck in Frankfurt airport for 5 hours in the middle of the night.   REALLY EVERYTHING about flying with Lufthansa

Advantages: Excellent product for intercontinental travel, extremely improved punctuality, good meals on longhaul flights

Wish I left Lufthansa...

Advantages: they got me to england...
Disadvantages: they got me 8 hours late to england... flight attendants are just brutal if you dont speak german...

I am an American living in the UK... but... how I got here is a horror story in itself... first off... let me say that when I came to England... flying Lufthansa had been only my third flight ever... (the previous two being the same day from Toledo, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois... then Chicago to Newark, New Jersey...) so I was relatively inexperienced when it came to flying... Lufthansa-Reliable

Advantages: Punctual Good engineering. Reliable. Price competitive
Disadvantages: In flight service only mediocre

...I have flown on several short haul European flights and regional flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney on Lufthansa and found them to be a reliable airline. Their engineering standards are high, their large fleet is a modern one, and their ground services very efficient. Their in flight services are OK but frankly I do not think they are as good as say, MAS, Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific. Some of the in flight attendants were very helpful but one or two I felt were a bit authoritarian. On the short European flights there were sandwiches which you could help yourself to and I thought that was quite a sensible idea for an hour or a two hour flight. On the flights between Malaysia and Australia I was quite impressed with the in flight cuisine - I thought it was of quite a high standard. I remember my breakfast meal of omelette...

Lufthansa Heathrow-Munich

Advantages: Very cheap, quick and efficient
Disadvantages: Having to travel through Heathrow!

...I flew from London Heathrow to Munich for a weekend last year. We arrived amongst the usual Heathrow chaos, and made our way to the dingy check in desk in Terminal 2. The check in staff were very good, and we were quickly on our way to security. The problem with flying Lufthansa from Heathrow is that you have to put up with Terminal 2, which is thankfully being demolished soon. When we arrived at the gate, we found a clean A320, looking as good as it did when it came out the factory, despite it being a older aircraft, manufactured in the early 1990s. The staff were very good, and the plane was efficiently secured and we pushed back for the taxi. Once we were up, the cabin crew started the service. We got a drink, and a little ham or cheese roll, and a small Bounty chocolate bar. It's really all you need for a short flight of only...

...On my return flight from Munich I was to fly Lufthansa. I was late for my flight, I got to the desk and the (best German accent here) "non-smiling couldn't really care - you are obviously not German otherwise you would be meticulous with your time keeping” heel clicking logical thinking air steward behind the counter didn't give two dimes that I was late. He made no effort to try and shepherd me onto the flight, it was too late, I had missed my flight end of story. Kaput. The thing is after arguing with him for 5 mins it transpired my flight hadn't gone yet, so I ran to the departure lounge with a suitcase in hand and would have made the flight if I hadn't been arguing with the SS guard at the front desk. Beer Monsters Get Star Treatment on Lufthansa

Advantages: Good service, relatively nice surroundings.
Disadvantages: Fellow passengers...

...My rather sloppy approach to booking a holiday meant that instead of flying direct to Prague, we had to change planes and loaf around in Frankfurt International Airport for a couple of hours. There is nothing terribly special about Lufthansa, it's service, or it's planes, but after years of package tours to places like Magalluf and the Canaries, this journey seemed to have an element of class about it. The chief difference is the attitudes of the stewardesses. The stewardesses accustomed to being leered at by beer boys on their way to Ibiza or Ayia Napa don't really want to venture into the cabin...they see to your needs with an icy smile smeared across their faces, as if trying not to scream. The Lufthansa stewardesses are more accustomed to business types, and will gladly take care of your needs. Just don't pinch their arses...

Lufthansa - German efficiency

Advantages: Quick Flight, Easy check in, Pleasant staff
Disadvantages: Poor Food

...I recently flew to Nuremberg in Germany from Birmingham International. I had to take 2 flights each direction with a connection in Frankfurt, therefore had 4 flights which gave me enough knowledge to write this review. Flight times were 1 hour 15 mins and 25 mins, therefore spending over 3 hours on Lufthansa planes. I found the checking in process to be a doddle although another desk being open would have made it a quicker passage. Also the fact you could check in 1 hour beforehand meant i didn't have to be waiting around the airport for too long either unlike with some other airlines that make you get there in excess of 2 hours before hand. All 4 of my flights left on time and the in flight demonstration and all announcements were done in both German and English therefore everyone could understand. I felt the in flight meal...

Business Class very dissapointing

Advantages: Punctualily and frequency provided their pilots are not on strike
Disadvantages: Congested, Business Class seats too small

...I was booked on an Alitalia flight from Bombay to Rome recently and infortunately the Alitalia flight was delayed for about 6 hours. Being a Business Class passenger they therefore transferred my ticket to Lufthansa from Bombay to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Rome. Lufthansa use a 747 from Bombay to Frankfurt so I was expecting good things since Alitalia use a smaller MD-11 aircraft and since I had never travelled on Lufthansa previously. As soon as I entered the aircraft and approached my seat all my expectations were gone. The Business Class section is huge. They must be having at least 80 seats. The seats are a lot smaller than other airline seats. The service was not all that attentive although they did provide you with all the usual service that one would expect in Business Class. I have done the journey before and generally I had an ambivalent attitude towards Lufthansa. They were neither particularly good and yet there was nothing specifically bad or annoying about them.
