Review of the Victorinox Century Swiss Army Knife
Advantages: Sharp serrated blade, attractive design.
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind.
...I am a little bit sad. You see, I'm a pen knife anorak...
I have four of the things, and use them for camping trips, jobs around the house and those bizarre tasks that pop up from time to time (ever got a lump of chewing gum stuck to your shoe before a meeting?!?) In short - I KNOW about penknives.
Features of the Victorinox Swiss Army Century Swiss Army Knife
Serrated/Straight blade - this is pulled out from the cover by gripping a little groove on the back of the blade. It is made of stainless steel, so it won't rust, and it "locks" when it is in line with the handle. The blade is 4" long and has about 60% serrated edge and 40% straight edge. It is an incredibly sharp blade that cuts just about anything - string...

Victorinox Swissbit USB flash drive - 512 MB
Advantages: Durable and Well built. Nice Design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have any Swiss Army Knife accessories
...This is a USB flash drive produced by Victorinox, makers of the Swiss Army knife. The design is basically a USB Swiss Army knife without the knife and accessories. The outer case is made of durable aluminium rather than the more traditional red plastic. The design is nice and much better than a lot of other flash drives, however I think i prefer the more iconic red plastic version.
The USB stick is clear plastic allowing you to see the circuit board inside, while the USB plug is gold coloured. The stick flips out of the case when in use and is held in place by a clip at the keyring end when being carried. A small green LED on the circuit board indicates activity when plugged into a USB port.
The drive is USB 2.0 compatible and I have used it on both PC and Apple Macs with no problems. The manufacturers claim that it will work...

pi-tag.com - Secure luggage, keys, mobile tagging.
Advantages: Secure luggage tracking. Automated Service. Get messages worldwide.
Disadvantages: Must subscribe for 1 year at a time.
...Having decided to take a well earned break from the UK, I went looking for some new luggage tags. I found a number of sites on the internet but the best I found was a site called pi-tag.com. pi-tag.com was on BBC Radio 2's website of the day in March 2005 and it was through the Radio 2 website that I found it.
It costs just £9.99 to register for one year - and for that you get your choice of 2 tags. You can purchase additional tags online if you wish.
Once registered, an activation code is sent to your registered address to verify your contact details and a unique pi-tag number is assigned to you.
If someone finds your bag, they don't know your home address or telephone number but that are told on the tag to contact you at pi-tag.com - or by calling the international 0870 number. If you ring the telephone number...

* Find them on t'net . .
Advantages: Keeps luggage secure.
Disadvantages: None at all.
...These things are a real boon, when it comes to securing anything on a roof rack, you need something like a net, otherwise your suitcases could be strewn all over the motorway. This happens everyday of the year, sometimes with dire consequences. The Police and Highways Agency are out there recovering your treasured items of luggage, and sometimes clearing up after road traffic collisions resulting from debris on the road.
The idea is simple, the elasticated net, encapsulates all manner of kit, in a tray on your roofrack, and keeps it contained and safe. I very often see huge mounds of luggage piled high on roofs, with nothing more than just a couple of bungey straps to hold everything down.
Thule are a company with a good track record in travel equipment, including these nets. They have a decent website, although to be honest, I...

Trunki Terminates Toddler Terminal Travel Troubles
Advantages: Great design. Easy to use. Kid friendly. Durable.
Disadvantages: None to speak of.
...INTRODUCTION
Anyone who has a young child (or two) will be intimately familiar with the keenly felt frustration that all parents experience at Heathrow after a long flight. You exit the gate, the moving walkways are out of order, you are saddled with various hand luggage and duty free bags, and your tired, sleepy and grumpy little so and so decides they?re not walking for love nor Smarties (I would say money, but chocolate is the preferred currency of bribery at that age). On our many trips out to Cyprus, the airport staff at Larnaka never seem to have any problems delivering strollers and push chairs to the base of the stairs from which you disembark the aircraft, but such common sense and practicality seems anathema to staff at most of our British airports. In fact, you?ll be lucky to collect your property in one piece - if you...

A cut above the rest
Advantages: Stylish, durable, sharp, versatile, last a life time
Disadvantages: Nothing to lock the blades open
...are really indispensable.
The knives are made by a company called Victorinox who originated in Switzerland in 1884 by Charles & Victoria Eisener. They made quality cutlery & in 1891 obtained a contract from the Swiss Army to supply a sturdy soldier's knife. In 1897 Charles Eisener developed a rather elegant officer's knife which was officially registered & became popular throughout the world because of its high quality & versatility.
Today the company offers a huge range of pocket knives including a sportsman knife, waiter's knife, manager's knife, executive's knife, camper's knife, climber's knife, huntsman's knife & the one I have, simply called the ranger's knife.
Most of them are either coloured red or black with the Swiss flag on the body of the knife. They come in all sizes & all have good quality stainless steel blades & are...

I am all packed mum
Advantages: A bag and toy in one
Disadvantages: Expensive compared to other chidrens' bags
...We have been on a few holidays with the little one and she wanted her own bag to take on the plane and I knew straight away which one I was getting her, the trunki. My mum brought it for her for her birthday and she loved it and it has now been on a couple of holidays and is used every time she goes to stay at someone house which is at least once every two weeks so is regularly used.
You are probably thinking what makes this child bag stand out from the rest of the bags out there. This bag was designed to be light and up to the maximum size a hand luggage for a plane can be. What makes it so special is that it is made from a strong light plastic, has a moulded seat as part of the case, has four wheels at the bottom, two little horns at the top which act as handles and a strap that is detachable. Your little one then sits...

Dont Forget your Sleeping Partner
Advantages: see op
Disadvantages: see op
...Luggage is a great category for me, I've never got the hang of traveling light. For me luggage consists of two very large hard plastic suitcases full of my stuff plus a swimming cossie and spare pair of undies for hubby! Here's my indispensable list of holiday items, without which I could not survive a week. Yes you do have to worry about excess baggage, always weigh your suitcases before you leave home, then take out all the clothes and weight them again.
~~~ My Pillow ~~~
A number of years ago I read somewhere that you will always get a good nights sleep, whatever bed you are in, so long as you have your own pillow. You may mock but it's damned good advice which I've followed ever since and I always sleep well. Another advantage of taking a pillow is that it’s a nice big padded thing to wrap breakables in when you are...
Lost luggage and still liking it!
Advantages: Clean and helpful staff
Disadvantages: None for us- it got us whre we wanted to be
.../facilities and a business centre.
OUR EXPERIENCE OF THE AIRPORT...
On arrival at the airport, we were speedily taken to the baggage area which was a fairly painless process given that we had to collect a Visa on entry; in fact, it was all very organised! The baggage reclaim area was large and spacious and had plenty of trollies on which passengers could put their cases. So far, so good, until our cases didn?t arrive! We then experienced an outdated computer and staff who seemed unable to add the details into the computer so that the luggage could be tracked and hopefully found. However, throughout the experience, the staff were as helpful as they could possibly be given the language barrier and the fact that I was clearly not happy.
Once all of the details were taken we went for a taxi, and found when we got outside that there were several taxis...
