Luton Airport
Advantages: Easy, convenient
Disadvantages: None
...My review on Luton Airport
Last weekend I flew to Amsterdam and I had the pleasure of flying out of Luton Airport, and I call it a pleasure because it really was!! If you want a relatively quiet airport with no queues, without the throngs of passengers you find at Heathrow/Gatwick, a few shops/restaurants and a convenient baggage reclaim and customs section then Luton Airport is the palace for you.
Luton Airport or London Luton Airport as it is now known is situated in Luton, Bedfordshire which is approximately 30 miles from London. It is an International airport although it generally flies to destinations within Europe and is the major hub for several low-cost carriers.
The main reason I like Luton Airport is that it is so convenient to get to. Granted, I live fairly near it but I work in London and this past weekend travelled...

Holiday Inn Luton Airport
Advantages: Close to airport
Disadvantages: The staff and food
...I had the 'pleasure' of having a 4 week stay at the Holiday Inn Express recently whilst on an airline training course.
It's one of two hotels near the airport, the other one being the awful Ibis. So if you need a hotel due to an early or late flight this is probably your best bet.
Location:
It's a quarter of a mile from Luton Airport and 1 mile from Luton Airport Parkway train station. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the station to the airport every 10 minutes or so and it goes past the hotel, there is a bus stop just outside. A taxi to Luton Parkway if you do not want to use the free bus is around £4.
First Impressions:
It's a nice modern looking building, with 'Holiday Inn Express' clearly marked on it. You walk into an open plan room and it seems quite small with a low ceiling. There is a reception desk that also...

Airport CarParkz - yez Pleaz
Advantages: Close to the airport, fast and cheap
Disadvantages: Min. 48 hours stay, they park your car.
...looks just like yours - but none of them actually are.
If you are off to Heathrow or Gatwick you can find a lot of options available to you - none of them very cheap, but there's plenty of choice. I generally use www.holidayextras.co.uk (previously known as ABC Holiday Extras) to shop around but I find that they don't provide a lot of choice for Luton. If you have a morning flight, be sure to check out hotel offers that include parking - they are often cheaper than parking alone.
I'm going to start by reviewing the choices available to Luton airport so you can be aware of the different issues. Then I'll tell you about my latest bargain find - a company called Airport Carparkz. I'm almost reluctant to tell you how good they are in case I can't get in next time I need them.
Hopefully even if you are using another airport, you'll still...

Luton Airport - more work still needed
Advantages: close to where I live
Disadvantages: just no thought given to the customer
...I hadn't been to Luton Airport for about three years until I flew to Majorca from there in June.
I heard that they had been making great improvements to the departure lounge and that, indeed, work was still very much in progress.
Well was I disappointed with one of our 'premier' package holiday airports? Yep, you bet. What a tip!
We were flying out at around midnight. The airport was not too busy. There were a few Easyjet flights going out - all seemed to be delayed too. Plus three or four departures for the Med.
Facilities were desperately limited for the ordinary traveller. They have a 'food court' - a Cafeteria area, Bar and takeaway. But despite the airport being hardly at its busiest point of the season, you couldn't get a seat or a table up there. So, back downstairs to sit on the comfy seats in the main Departure area...

Luton Airport, not as bad as you think!
Advantages: Expanding rapidly with great destinations
Disadvantages: Current roadworks willmake better but can be nightmare at moment
...Well, after writing a few reviews on other airports around Europe based on just one or two visits, I thought that it was about time I wrote one on my 'home' airport of London Luton (LTN).
Luton is found about 30 miles north of London and is the 4th largest London airport after Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. It was opened in 1938 and was a fighter base during WWII until it started commercial operations. Traditionally seen predominantly as a charter airport, it started to expand rapidly in the mid 90's when several low cost operators, easyJet in particular, started setting up bases at the airport. Today it sees over 9m people pass through every year as well as being one of the foremast private aviation fields in the south of the UK. Earlier this year the airport started its first transatlantic flight with a daily service to Newark, New...

Reporting live from Luton airport
Advantages: clean, easy to get to, small, well put together
Disadvantages: easyjet normally delayed
...Where beter to write an opinion from but the place itself. I am at Luton airport on a free internet connection that they have got in the easyjet departure lounge where Iam waiting to fly to Glasgow.
Its easy to get to luton, i live in hendon, so i got the Thameslink from Hendon to Luton Parkway, which takes 30 mins and costs about nine pounds single. Then you get on a free bus to the airport from the station which takes about 5 mins, and takes you right to the entrance.
The airport has recently been totally overhauled and is as clean as the inside of a newly washed dishwasher (not a great analogy I know). It is so spotless and it is very well signposted.
The onlything is that the toilets were quite manky!
Checking in was a doddle and there are loads of duty free shops that you can use if you are flying domestic. The only...

Luton Airport
Advantages: Readily accessible, offering many short and long haul destinations.
Disadvantages: Luton could benefit from better hotel and conference facilities
...Luton (London) International Airport is truly the choice alternative to the London airports. Easily accessible from the M1 motorway, this continually improving airport offers all the advantages of the larger London airports, but without some of the major hassles sometimes associated with them. The new terminal is bright and clean and check-in times are relatively short. Luton continues to expand the number of destinations it flies to, as EasyJet continues to expand its routes. Continued investment in the airport is making it one of the fastest expanding airports in the country, with an average of 5 million passengers per year.
There are a number of nearby hotels, but Luton could benefit from more top class accommodation and conference facilities. Luton itself, is conveniently placed for direct access to London, being just about...

Gloomy Luton
Advantages: Cheap, comfortable hotel in ideal location
Disadvantages: Not very welcoming appearance
...days later.
***Location***
The hotel is located close to Luton Airport and is approximately 10 minutes away from by taxi.
We drove in by car and it was just off the M1 directions however I am not too sure on you can get them direct from the website or I recommend getting the postcode and using a route planner to get you there, that was what we did and we got there without getting lost.
***Outside***
The hotel looks grubby from the outside and I was pretty disappointed to be honest as it looked like an outdate member of the Corus Chain, having only recently stayed at the Ultra Modern Corus Hyde Park.
There are plenty of free car parking spaces and indeed coach parking.
The entrance is fairly unwelcoming with two automatic doors which lead on to a very large open plan reception/bar lounge area.
As you enter the hotel the reception...

NAH LUTON AIRPORT
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: some
...Lynda Bellingham and family didn’t take over the role until much later.
10. Other averts worth a mention:
· Hovis: The delivery lad walking up the cobbled road to some classical music.
· Campari: The ones starring Lorraine Chase. She’d be asked by some admirer “Were you truly wafted here from paradise” to which she’d reply “Nah Luton Airport!”
· Heinz Beans: Beanz, meanz Heinz! (I suppose it could have been Beanz means Sainsbury’s (they’re cheaper)
· Birds Eye: Remember captain Birds eye? I think he was dismissed due for some reasons involving illegal acts
· Cresta drinks: Remember the talking polar bear? He’d be the one saying “It’s frothy man!”
Oh well that’s me done for another opinion, thanks for reading - Dave...

Good Standards at Luton
Advantages: Short check in queues (midweek PM). Organised layouts
Disadvantages: Web terminals needed.
...Luton Airport is located a short distance from Junction 10 of the M1 motorway. Geographically I'll estimate it as being 40 miles north of the centre of London, and around 20 miles south from Milton Keynes and Northampton.
It is actually known as London-Luton airport, this not something I realised until I used said airport for the first time recently, I suppose this makes it easier for International visitors to identify the airport as being one close to London, although is certainly more out of the way than the other London ports.
Upon arrival to Luton there is a simple colour coded signpost system which directs
you to the parking you need, or alternatively you be just dropping off, or picking up. Either way it is simple to get to the right part of the site!
Depending on length of your trip, or cash available, you can choose...
