Luxembourg Small, But Plentiful.
Advantages: Lot's to do and see, great nightlife, fine dining and wine tasting.
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if not careful
...Luxembourg is the capital of the Grand Duchy. It is steeped in history with a rich, troubled past, but a future that has hope and optimism. There is a true sense of culture and the people of Luxembourg are very proud to live there. It has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, but not everyone speaks English so if you get lost it is a bit of a problem finding someone to ask the directions that understands you.
Luxembourg has a large mixture of different cultures more than 33% of the capital's population is of foreign origin. Luxembourg's motto is 'Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sin' which means "We want to remain what we are" this sums up the originality of Luxembourg.
There are many historical and cultural sites to see in Luxembourg. I enjoyed looking at the many intriguing and beautiful places. It was fun discovering the history...

Luxembourg... Zzzzzz Zzzzzz Zzzzzz
Advantages: Deathly quiet, safe as a Bomb Shelter
Disadvantages: Deathly quiet, Like being wrapped in cotton wool 24/7
...If youve found something interesting here, it means youve crossed the border, and are probably in Germany. The country that brings you the museum of blocks of steel, also brings with it a mundane boringness that can only be found in Luxembourg.
Ok, so you dont need a Flak Jacket for this one, but for me, it would make a really neat retirement home, all enclosed within its small borders, in fact, I would love to retire there when Im older and grey, well, older, and greyer!
You can be mistaken if you think that your permently in some English Hamlet somewhere, the whole country has this feel to it, which some people like.
All though it isnt my cup of tea, a lot has to be said for the stability of the country, and lets face it, its doing well!
Luxembourg\'s stable, high-income economy features moderate growth, low inflation...

I had a title but I left it in Luxembourg
Advantages: centrally located, cheap, convenient
Disadvantages: a quality 5* hotel this aint
...We had a bank holiday last week and assuming that it would be more dead than a Sunday (and believe me, a typical Sunday here is taking some getting used to after 20 years of Sundays in England) I decided to do the sensible thing and go away for a few days to a country that, erm, wasn’t having a bank holiday. I looked at a map, saw a country that lay almost directly west of here and it was decided. Off to Luxembourg to, in Muffin’s words, stare at some Luxembourgians.
Despite the low prices, youth hostels just don’t appeal to me most of the time, so I took to the net to look for a hotel and about half an hour later had found one, checked availability and handed over my credit card number.
*** Getting There
The hotel is located smack bang in the center of the city. From the railway station, turn right...

Peace in Paris
Advantages: Free, peaceful
Disadvantages: None really
...The Jardin de Luxembourg is a haven for visitors to Paris who are getting weary of the hustle and bustle of the city proper. On a trip to Paris a couple of years ago we spent the best part of a day relaxing, reading and generally watching the world go by in these magnificent gardens. First some history:
The Jardin de Luxembourg surrounds the Palais de Luxembourg which currently houses France's Senate. Although the Palais is quite imposing it is the gardens that surround it that have captured me. The palace was built in the early 1600's for Princess Marie (who became the Queen of France) and the gardens reach for over 50 acres to the front of the palace and are truly delightful in both summer and winter.
The gardens were some of the first French gardens to be influenced by the Italian Baroque and are quite grand in the formal...

Stick Luxembourg On The Radio Will Ya
Advantages: A true classic
Disadvantages: So many faults you could fill a book with them!
....9% of the time.
~ ~ Inside the car was simply marvellous, and you felt like you were driving around in a Rolls Royce! Fantastic leather upholstery that was designed to last a lifetime, and real walnut wood on the facia and door trims. The front seat was the old bench type, although it had a slight gap between the driver and passenger seats. This was simply wonderful for a young a ?jack the lad? like myself, and many a romantic interlude was spent on the front seats of the old Wolesley!
This was helped by an antiquated old Motorola valve radio, which although it looked like a leftover from Noah?s Ark, nevertheless was quite capable of blasting out all the latest hits from Radio Luxembourg and the like. The boot was big enough to carry about four extra passengers, and the space inside the car was so cavernous you felt like you were sitting in...

A hidden gem...
Advantages: Easy to get to, very hospitable, excellent food, drink and scenery
Disadvantages: Lots of shops shut on a Monday, for some reason
...Luxembourg might be a small nation wedged quietly in between Belgium, France and Germany, but it is unfairly overlooked most of the time and is very much worth a visit. Passing through this tiny country on the motorway doesn't give you any idea of the treasures on offer in the Mosel Valley, for example - come off at Grevenmacher and follow the road along the river to Remich. You will see some beuatiful scenery, the vines snaking up over the hills and little villages perched on the river bank, a mere stone's throw from Germany. These villages are often host to restaurants and vintners, wine growers whose vineyards are open for tasting, and of course for purchasing the oft-neglected Luxemburg wines - look out for the local sparkling wine known as Cremant...
Remich itself is one of the larger settlements along the Mosel, and every weekend...

Lux pretty good to me
Advantages: Pretty European Capital City
Disadvantages: Not loads to see and do
...OK I admit that when deciding where to go for my latest weekend jaunt into Europe Luxembourg wasn’t at the top of my list. Most of us know little or nothing about the place – I just knew it was small, stuck in the middle of Western Europe and not that great at football.
Because of a work contact in Europe however I ended up doing just this. Anyway seen as I am in my second paragraph I should quickly say that Luxembourg is most certainly worth a trip and that I will explain why. The following information actually refers to Luxembourg City the capital of the country and where we actually stayed rather than the environs which I am sure deserve a review in there own right. I should also point when not walking around the City within a drunken stupor I was at least nursing a shocking hangover.
Before you go

Don?t pass this Duchy on the left-hand side!
Advantages: Enjoy a coffee break instead of paying autoroute tolls
Disadvantages: none
...While living in Brussels I decided to visit friends in Stuttgart. So I planned my route to avoid the French autoroute tolls and instead of going to Saarbrücken via Metz I decided to go through Luxembourg.
Just before the Belgian/Luxembourg border is the Belgian town of Arlon. This is a great place to visit, as it is the site of a Roman fort town. If you are travelling from Brussels by car: follow the E411 to Namur and Luxembourg. Take the exit to Arlon before reaching the border with the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.
Luxembourg has borders with France, Belgium and Germany this gives rise to the diverse languages that are spoken and understood here including English. Somewhat forgotten is the Luxemburgians own language ?Letzenburgese? a Germanic-based language but hey so is English! There are words from French and German as well as...

Haven within the city
Advantages: Peaceful, and a chance to escape the bustle
Disadvantages: Woe betide you if you need to be chased out at closing time!
...Everyone likes to think of the Jardin de Luxembourg as their own haven of peace from the centre of the city. Handy for several university facuties, numerous shops and offices, not to mention various tourist attractions, a hugely varied selection of people use these gardens to get away from the bustle of central Paris. From workers snatching a lunchtime break, to students and joggers, all human life truly is here.
The gardens house the French Senat, an imposing building, fronted by a large boating pond. This is a favourite spot for many, particularly in summer, when small boats are provided on the pond, and children rush around, sailing them, trying desperately not to let them get too far out of reach. However, this is only one of the spots in this garden where you can choose to set down your chair (which are in plentiful supply...

An afternoon in the garden
Advantages: quiet, peacefull
Disadvantages: no
...When wheater is nice as it is always in Paris, you really have to go to The JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG, that's the biggest garden in the center of Paris . The "jardin" is located in the center of Paris , it's really quiet , there is a lot of chairs so you can have a rest, read , speak with french people or tourists ...
For the chess player there is a lot of poeple who play chess in the jardin du luxembourg.
To enter in , there is a lot of entrances, so don't tell me that you didn't find the door. The opening depends of the season, the garden is closed when the night fall down. But don't worry you couldn't be trapp in because there is lot of guardians looking for lazy poeple...
For the one who want to do some sport there is some outdoor tennis courts, there a basket ball playgroud, and there is a big children's playground ( but it...
