...This next review is about my experience at the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. I went to Las Vegas once before, which I think most people would no if they had read some of my previous reviews, however the excitement and thrill of Vegas once again attracted me to the Sin City. My previous review focused more about the whole experience of what can be done in Vegas, the next set of reviews will focus more on the two hotels I stayed at whilst on my trip, the first being the Luxor which I stayed in for 3 nights, followed by the Bellagio, which I stayed in for two nights. Now most people will probably ask how the hell he goes to so many places, well it does have a strain on the wallet, but I work dam hard so I don?t see why I can?t indulge in the nice life. Hopefully this review will be informative for anyone thinking of staying at the Luxor...

Review of Luxor, Las Vegas

Our stay in Luxor

Advantages: Grea views, clean, close to centre and sights
Disadvantages: Not a lot of entertainment

...lost all of our luggage en route to Luxor airport and arrived with nothing but what we were standing in, first impressions were not good. However, I did notice that the transfer time was about 20 minutes and the hotel was located on a bustling road right next to the Nile. The large spacious lobby had chairs and tables dotted around, with a reception desk at the side. We were quickly shown to our room and the staff were helpful enough to take details of the luggage loss (3 cases!) and made an attempt to contact the relevant people although given that it was late they didn?t have a lot of chance of that happening! ACCOMMODATION... There are 185 rooms in total overlooking either the Nile, the road and the lobby. The rooms are accessed via lifts (2 of them) and long quite dark corridors fitted with a rather unnecessary dark patterned...

One Day In Luxor

..., the Opet festival, their statues were taken to the temple of Luxor 3 km away through an alleyway flanked by rows of sphinxes with the bodies of lions and the heads of rams - a short stretch of which can still be seen in Karnak. Simple folks were not allowed to enter the temples proper, the first forecourt was the farthest they could get. According to our Egyptian guide the site of the temple mirrored the area around Karnak, the main axis being the Nile, the columns, smaller temples, courtyards, the houses for the priests and the huts for the servants (up to 80 000 people are said to have lived and worked there) the flora and architecture on the fertile banks, the surrounding sand the desert and the brick wall enclosing the whole site the mountain range. Playstation 3

Advantages: Graphics, playability, blu-ray player!

...I have been umming and arring over which colsole to buy, the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. I had heard a lot of positive things about the Xbox, and I had also heard that graphics wise and gaming wise the Xbox was slightly better than the Playstation 3. However, I eventually decided to go for the Playstation 3 for several reasons. Firstly, and probably mainly, was because of the recent decision to cancel production of the HD-DVD format (a format which the Xbox 360 is developed to play), meaning that the Blu-Ray dvd format ( a format that the Playstation 3 is developed to play) will dominate the High Definition DVD market in the near future. Playstation 3

Advantages: Great graphics and choice of games

...I got one last year for Christmas and found it to be better than my XBox 360 in almost every area, in my opinion this truly is the best games console on the market and would recommend it to anyone who is into their gaming. The graphics are phenomenal and the range of games available is tremendous! I find the controllers are much easier and more comfortable to use than the other consoles on the market today i.e. xbox 360s controller has no area for the hands to get a grip of and is quite frankly annoying especially when using after the playstation 3, the rechargable controller function is a tremendous help as i was always buying batteries and having the hassle of inserting them into the xbox and now i simply plug into the playstation console and the charges up no problem, i can even use the controller while its charging! i would...

Review of Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3)

PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Advantages: Awe inspiring place full of culture
Disadvantages: Local water could make you quite ill

...My husband and I went to Luxor a couple of years ago for two weeks. Although we were worried about security we didn't have any problems and a trip we went on to a Red Sea Resort was chaperoned by armed guards incase of trouble. The security of tourists is taken very seriously in Luxor, and we didn't come across any trouble at all. The hotels are excellent and service is second to none, just walking down the street you find yourself offered a taxi or a caleche (the local horse drawn carriages) every few feet and it can be quite hard to refuse. The drivers are always more than happy to take you on a tour of Luxor culminating in a trip to the local papyrus museum, which is very interesting with a demonstration of how it is made and a hefty commission for the driver if you buy a papyrus! Luxor

Advantages: The heat (in winter) Stunning temples
Disadvantages: The heat (in summer) The hassle

...I have now visited Luxor three times and would recommend it as a holiday to anyone. We have visted twice in July and the advantage of this is that it is one of the few travel destinations which is cheaper in the school holidays, howver the heat is incredible and if possible you should avoid this. It is possible to stay in a good quality hotel for around 400 pounds for a week in July which if cost is a consideration is a very reasonable cost. We spent new year in Luxor and this was totally different to summer as it was possible to walk freely without being overcome by heat. It made us wonder why we were vere daft enough to visit in summer. The hassle is the main disadvantage of the place with people rtying to sell you souveniers or to go in their carriage. If you are really not interested a firm no will usually do the trick...
