Luxor Hotel
Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: None
...This next review is about my experience at the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. I went to Las Vegas once before, which I think most people would no if they had read some of my previous reviews, however the excitement and thrill of Vegas once again attracted me to the Sin City. My previous review focused more about the whole experience of what can be done in Vegas, the next set of reviews will focus more on the two hotels I stayed at whilst on my trip, the first being the Luxor which I stayed in for 3 nights, followed by the Bellagio, which I stayed in for two nights. Now most people will probably ask how the hell he goes to so many places, well it does have a strain on the wallet, but I work dam hard so I don?t see why I can?t indulge in the nice life. Hopefully this review will be informative for anyone thinking of staying at the Luxor...

Our stay in Luxor
Advantages: Grea views, clean, close to centre and sights
Disadvantages: Not a lot of entertainment
...Iberotel Luxor
Having stayed all inclusive at the Iberotel in Sharm el Sheikh, and found it to be good value and quality, when we visited Luxor, we decided to stay at the Iberotel Luxor.
The hotel is situated on the banks of the Nile and when we were looking at phots of different hotels, this is what appealed to Little miss, the fact that the pool is on the Nile. The hotel information told us that there are lovely views of the river, its West Bank and the Theben hills from the restaurant and pool, and when we arrived we found this to be totally true. It is located in the centre of Luxor, 10 min walking distance from the Luxor Temple and 20 min from Luxor Airport. So, given that we wanted an all inclusive clean hotel close to all of the ?sights?, this looked to be exactly what we wanted.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS...

One Day In Luxor
Advantages: overwhelming
Disadvantages: none
...After 28 years my husband and I decided to revisit Egypt, not that we expected the millennia-old monuments to look any different, but the first visit had impressed us so much that we thought we´d enjoy a second visit.
On 20th December 2003 Egypt Air took us from Frankfurt/Main directly to Luxor in Upper Egypt where we landed at 1 am the following morning due to a delay at departure, when we finally hit the hay it was 2 am! The view from the balcony of our hotel room some hours later rewarded us for the trouble: after winter-grey Germany eye-hurting, bright sunshine, palm trees on the bank of the Nile, cruisers and feluccas - Egyptian sailing-boats - on the glittering river!
Why do tourists go to Luxor? The remains of the biggest temple humankind has ever constructed are there, in Karnak to be precise, now a part of the city, in...

Highly Attractive
Advantages: Visually inventive, great performances and a witty script
Disadvantages: Could be too strong for some
...The Rules of Attraction
I am a great fan of Bret Easton Ellis. In my teens ?American Psycho? was my favourite book and that?s probably why I was so disappointed with Mary Hallan?s film adaptation. Perhaps it?s because I haven?t read ?The Rules of Attraction? that I found Roger Avary?s interpretation of Ellis? work such a visceral delight.
I should start off by saying this is not a film for kids, the faint-hearted or the easily offended (the same can probably be said for my review). So if you?re a Daily Mail kind of a guy I?d just stop reading now cos you ain?t gonna like it.
The pre-credits sequence pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the film and neatly sums up its central elements. It immediately introduces us to Avary?s visual inventiveness and conscious ?film? style. We watch the same series of events three times, from...

Luxor
Advantages: Awe inspiring place full of culture
Disadvantages: Local water could make you quite ill
...My husband and I went to Luxor a couple of years ago for two weeks. Although we were worried about security we didn't have any problems and a trip we went on to a Red Sea Resort was chaperoned by armed guards incase of trouble. The security of tourists is taken very seriously in Luxor, and we didn't come across any trouble at all.
The hotels are excellent and service is second to none, just walking down the street you find yourself offered a taxi or a caleche (the local horse drawn carriages) every few feet and it can be quite hard to refuse. The drivers are always more than happy to take you on a tour of Luxor culminating in a trip to the local papyrus museum, which is very interesting with a demonstration of how it is made and a hefty commission for the driver if you buy a papyrus! In fact, every driver we used had a brother...

Luxor
Advantages: The heat (in winter) Stunning temples
Disadvantages: The heat (in summer) The hassle
...I have now visited Luxor three times and would recommend it as a holiday to anyone.
We have visted twice in July and the advantage of this is that it is one of the few travel destinations which is cheaper in the school holidays, howver the heat is incredible and if possible you should avoid this. It is possible to stay in a good quality hotel for around 400 pounds for a week in July which if cost is a consideration is a very reasonable cost.
We spent new year in Luxor and this was totally different to summer as it was possible to walk freely without being overcome by heat. It made us wonder why we were vere daft enough to visit in summer.
The hassle is the main disadvantage of the place with people rtying to sell you souveniers or to go in their carriage. If you are really not interested a firm no will usually do the trick...

Luxor West Bank by taxi
Advantages: Independent travel
Disadvantages: No tour guide descriptions
...Egyptian pounds, although bartering will undoubtedly start much higher. Always organise your taxi the day before to get the formalities in order. When requesting, ensure that you have a plan in your mind from the start. For example, tell them that you would like a taxi for half a day taking you to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple at Deir El Bahri and the mortuary temple at Medinet Habu. They will then quote you a price to barter.
Once the deal is done they will pick you up at the arranged time, drive you to the West bank via the Horus bridge to the south of Luxor and firstly stop at the ticket booth area. Tickets to all the West Bank attractions are bought at the same place. The driver will then take you to all of your choices and wait for you in the taxi rank at each spot.
A quick note on West bank tickets. Like I said...

LUXOR....BUT ITS NOT PAINFUL
Advantages: Climate, Friendly People
Disadvantages: None
...CURRENCY : Egyptian Pound
(£1.00 = approx 10 Egyptian)
TIME DIFFERENCE: +2 GMT
FLYING TIME : Approx 4 1/2 hours
In October this year my partner and I managed to pick up a bargain break to Egypt for 7 night?s bed and breakfast for the princely some of £798 for the two of us, courtesy of Mr Thomas Cook
Our trip started two weeks before departure as we had to have the following vaccinations before leaving: Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Polio and Typhoid. Please note these vaccinations are not mandatory these days but according to the Foreign Office website they are recommended. Be warned, the Polio vaccination tastes like what I imagine would be sweaty socks that have been worn by cows for 3 months and not washed!
We landed at Luxor airport at approx 21.30 local time (+2 GMT) and as it...

Honeymoon in Luxor
Advantages: Good bargains and a lot to do
Disadvantages: The museums are too expensive
...My husband and I spent 2 weeks in Luxor for our honeymoon. It was our first time in Egypt and the first time my husband had visited an Arab country.
We stayed in a small, family run hotel called the St Joseph. It was very friendly and all the holidaymakers staying there got to know each other so the atmosphere was really good. The hotel provided entertainment most evenings which was just as well because there wasn't much going on at nights in Luxor. I loved Luxor but I was disappointed that the only places you could safely eat in were hotels which served up international food at more or less the same prices you would expect to pay in the UK.
We did the usual tours of the various temples and we did find the entrance fees for most of the museums a bit expensive at around £7 a time. I wondered if any of the locals could ever afford...

Couldn't get enough of Zuma? Try Luxor!!
Advantages: A challenging game, improves eye-hand coordination
Disadvantages: Very addictive
...I always keep an eye out for new downloadable games and do make it a point to try out any interesting ones. When I came across the game Luxor on the Big Fish Games website, it reminded me of the fantastic game Zuma I had played a couple of years ago. Zuma was a novel game then and had me completely addicted to it. Being an avid fan of Zuma, I couldn't resist playing Luxor which I found to be an adapted version of Zuma with some variations.
What is Luxor all about?
**************************
Luxor is basically an action-puzzle game with an Egyptian theme. The game consists of 88 challenging levels and requires a great deal of accuracy to win.
A stream of colourful orbs keeps rolling down a maze that leads to a pyramid. The aim of the game is to shoot at and destroy all the orbs before they disappear into the pyramid. A winged...
