...This next review is about my experience at the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. I went to Las Vegas once before, which I think most people would no if they had read some of my previous reviews, however the excitement and thrill of Vegas once again attracted me to the Sin City. My previous review focused more about the whole experience of what can be done in Vegas, the next set of reviews will focus more on the two hotels I stayed at whilst on my trip, the first being the Luxor which I stayed in for 3 nights, followed by the Bellagio, which I stayed in for two nights. Now most people will probably ask how the hell he goes to so many places, well it does have a strain on the wallet, but I work dam hard so I don?t see why I can?t indulge in the nice life. Hopefully this review will be informative for anyone thinking of staying at the Luxor...

Luxor Hotel Las Vegas - A big fish in a big pond

Advantages: An unmistakable icon on the Strip, distinctive and with no shortage of class. Exceptional price for exceptional quality of room, service and attraction. Caters for all ages, groups and functional needs. One of the best.
Disadvantages: Watch the queues and price increase around American holidays but at all other times it is a supremely priced hotel.

...To be honest, when ?The Luxor? first opened in 1992 I was in Las Vegas at the time staying at the ?Mirage? and as a boy in my late teens I thought it looked a little bit tacky and uninspiring. It may have had something to do with the fact that I was staying in one of the higher echelon hotels on the strip and was surrounded by other sensational hotels such as ?Caesars? and the ?MGM Grand?. It lacked that bit of aura, that mystique that comes with a Las Vegas Casino and Hotel complex. The idea was pretty cool: build a 30-story black pyramid in the middle of the desert and put in hotel rooms and a casino with an Egyptian theme, but it just didn?t have the feel or look of something to rival the big Casino?s. Our stay in Luxor

Advantages: Grea views, clean, close to centre and sights
Disadvantages: Not a lot of entertainment

...Iberotel Luxor Having stayed all inclusive at the Iberotel in Sharm el Sheikh, and found it to be good value and quality, when we visited Luxor, we decided to stay at the Iberotel Luxor. The hotel is situated on the banks of the Nile and when we were looking at phots of different hotels, this is what appealed to Little miss, the fact that the pool is on the Nile. The hotel information told us that there are lovely views of the river, its West Bank and the Theben hills from the restaurant and pool, and when we arrived we found this to be totally true. It is located in the centre of Luxor, 10 min walking distance from the Luxor Temple and 20 min from Luxor Airport. OH CAMEL YE HOLIDAYMAKERS TO THE LOVELY LUXOR

Advantages: Central Location, loads going on for both children and adults, if you shop around you can get a great deal
Disadvantages: We did initially get put in a smoking room when we'd requested non smoking but that was soon resolved to our satisfaction and with no fuss

...In April 2003, I visited America for the first time, the reason behind the visit was to attend my brothers wedding which took place in a hotel in the mountains, about a half an hour drive from Las Vegas. Whilst in Las Vegas we stayed in the Luxor Hotel, it is situated on the strip, although not on the main part of the strip, and consists of two large tower blocks full of rooms and a unique pyramid building which is also used for accommodation. In total there are over 4000 rooms available in the Luxor - and believe it or not they are very often fully booked. One Day In Luxor

Advantages: overwhelming

...After 28 years my husband and I decided to revisit Egypt, not that we expected the millennia-old monuments to look any different, but the first visit had impressed us so much that we thought we´d enjoy a second visit. Luxor

Advantages: Awe inspiring place full of culture
Disadvantages: Local water could make you quite ill

...My husband and I went to Luxor a couple of years ago for two weeks. Although we were worried about security we didn't have any problems and a trip we went on to a Red Sea Resort was chaperoned by armed guards incase of trouble. The security of tourists is taken very seriously in Luxor, and we didn't come across any trouble at all. The hotels are excellent and service is second to none, just walking down the street you find yourself offered a taxi or a caleche (the local horse drawn carriages) every few feet and it can be quite hard to refuse. The drivers are always more than happy to take you on a tour of Luxor culminating in a trip to the local papyrus museum, which is very interesting with a demonstration of how it is made and a hefty commission for the driver if you buy a papyrus! Great hotel

Advantages: The surroundings, alot to do!
Disadvantages: A couple of the features of the hotel didnt have much to them

...I went to las vegas for my eighteenth birthday, and stayed in the luxor hotel. It was a great hotel, better than any other hotel i have stayed in! The shape and the look of the hotel is magnificent, and it has its own lazer show at night (which i think is only on specific days). It has a large casino inside which is very nice,i couldnt gamble because i was only 18, but the adults did and they said it was the most fun they had in a long time! they've got some nice resturants, especially the one downstairs, which has a large selection of food, from breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food tasted delicious, we kept going back for loads more, and as it is a buffet, it is quite good value for money. They also have a museam inside, which i wouldnt say is the best of museums, but for one in a hotel, its not that bad. They also had a cinema...

Luxor

Advantages: The heat (in winter) Stunning temples
Disadvantages: The heat (in summer) The hassle

...I have now visited Luxor three times and would recommend it as a holiday to anyone. We have visted twice in July and the advantage of this is that it is one of the few travel destinations which is cheaper in the school holidays, howver the heat is incredible and if possible you should avoid this. It is possible to stay in a good quality hotel for around 400 pounds for a week in July which if cost is a consideration is a very reasonable cost. We spent new year in Luxor and this was totally different to summer as it was possible to walk freely without being overcome by heat. It made us wonder why we were vere daft enough to visit in summer. The hassle is the main disadvantage of the place with people rtying to sell you souveniers or to go in their carriage. If you are really not interested a firm no will usually do the trick...

Nice hotel with terrible food

Advantages: Nice scenery and swimming pool.
Disadvantages: Poor quality of Food and no double glazed windows

...This hotel is considered a 4/5 star hotel by Egyptian standards however, There windows were not double glazed and my room overlooked the streets which were exceptionally noisy, it also meant you could hear the prayers from the mosque each morning too. which can be a good thing if you like to wake early. The food was apalling and very expensive, many other people on the trip mentioned the lack of variety of food. I noticed that vegetarian options were extremely poor.Breakfast was the only decent meal served. The grounds of the hotel were very nice, as it overlooked the Nile and you could even did your feet into the suprisingly clear and clean waters. Room service was good and the people were mostly very friendly. The most dissapointing this was having prices of anything you bought whether in the hotel or outside made up as the merchants...

LUXOR....BUT ITS NOT PAINFUL

...?s a developing airport we were bussed to the terminal, which is basically an over sized marquee placed in the desert! As soon as we left the plane the warm air hit us, not muggy but dry heat. On leaving the airport be prepared to have loose change with you for tipping the locals who place your case on the bus, they are not employed by the tour companies but they do it anyway, they take sterling, US dollars or local currency. THE HOTEL Our hotel was called the Mercure Inn and is part of the ?Accor? hotels group (think Ibis), it was a 30 minute air conditioned coach ride from the airport into central Luxor and is set back in a complex off the road reached by a private drive way.
