Lovely Lyme Regis

Advantages: Charming. Lovely atmosphere. Great views.
Disadvantages: Car parking is difficult in the summer months

...In my opinion one of the greatly under-rated counties of England is Dorset and one of the loveliest little resorts to visit just has to be Lyme Regis. This little gem of a place is an absolute delight for sore eyes and it comes as no surprise to me that the great American actress Meryl Streep,after filming there,fell in love with the place. The resort has some delightful buildings, the cob, and some excellent hotels,guest houses and bed and breakfast places. The town also has a number of tradtional English inns which have foreigners drooling and there are wonderful views to be enjoyed. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking and the whole place just oozes character.It is very hilly which could make it difficult for the elderly to get about the place and in the height of the season car parking can be difficult. ONE of Your FIVE-A-DAY in one FRUITUS Cereal Bar

Advantages: Over 50% Fruit; 100% Natural Organic Ingredients; Wheat/Dairy Free; Quite filling
Disadvantages: Quite a dense moist bar which requires a lot of chewing. Not crunchy like Jordans.

..., at varying prices, or on the Lyme Regis Foods Online shop for 50p per bar (£12 for a box of 24) I am not sure what the postage and packing would be for online purchase, as I did not actually take myself through to the checkout. The allergy checklist implies that a new flavour, Sultana and Hazelnut may soon be available as well. I shall look out for that! Conclusions These are very filling fruit bars, where each one gives you One of your Five-a-Day. They are a pleasant taste but not particularly outstanding in flavour or texture. They are a convenient way to have a quick breakfast snack, but would be boring if it was all you had every day. . . Lyme Park in Disley

Advantages: A beautiful day out for the whole family
Disadvantages: lack of toilet facilities

...Lyme park is a beautiful, grand Elizabethan house situated in the heart of Disley in Cheshire. (It is run in association with the National trust and Stockport council). *Getting there?. By car, take the A6 from either Stockport or Buxton and the park is situated near Disley. Car parking cost £3.80 per car, which is refunded on purchase of an Adult house/garden ticket. The bus route is good as the 199 Buxton to Manchester Airport/ Manchester Airport-Buxton buses run regularly. There is also a bus from Macclesfield. The nearest train station is Disley which is a short walk to the entrance of the park (Apparently, when Lyme Hall is open the National Trust offer a courtesy bus to and from the Hall. I have never used this service so I can not offer any comment on it). *Opening times?.. The park is open all year round...

Lyme park

Advantages: Great park for picnics
Disadvantages: not the best without a car

...Lyme park is a beautiful place to go with the whole family. I recommend you go in a car as it could be a little far to travel for most people.Once you drive into the park a man at a kiosk will be there where u pay him a little fee to enter then you have to drive almost a mile to get to the car park, once there you wont no which way to go it is so big but you have signs to help you. It has its own cafe toilets icecream vans and a big beautiful pond, little streams and little waterfalls also a castle. Hills for you to take nice walks and beautiful views once up high. An amazing childrens playground where the kids have good fun not like your normal park. I would say this is the best park for picnics any day....

A Regal Time at Regis

Advantages: Felt ever so chilled out and relaxed afterwards!!
Disadvantages: Still too shilled out and relaxed to think of any!!

...For Christmas, my lovely sister and her family gave me a voucher for a pampering session at Fenwick's Regis Salon in the centre of Newcastle. Being the terribly dis-organised woman that I am it took me till the end of July this year to get around to booking myself in, but I have to tell you it was well worth the wait! Firstly, let me tell you what the voucher was for: Express Pedicure Express Manicure Hair Washed and Styled Estimated time: 1hr 45 mins Tea/coffee/juice included. Fenwick is a very famous Newcastle based department store, situated on Northumberland Street in the heart of the city centre. It's very easy to get to, with great transport links, and it's famous green logo can be spotted a mile away! There are lifts or escalators to all floors, and the salon is on the 3rd floor, next to a lovely terrace café...

Advantages: A good place the the whole family as there are plenty of things for the children to do.
Disadvantages: The overall cost can add up for a family of four if visiting all the attractions as they are charged for separately.

You can just imagine my delight when I was offered the chance to join some other members of my dive club on a trip to Lyme Regis to dive a sub called the M2. The day did not start well with my dive partner for the day failing to leave London due to a mechanical failure. Fortunately for me another diver had also cried off due to ill health so that I had a ready replacement lined up. Matters did not improve upon arriving in the picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis to be greeted by strong winds and rolling seas with a five-meter swell. ...Lyme Regis was a complete surprise to me. I'd never been to that part of Dorset before and it was nice driving through the pretty-as-a-postcard villages to get there. On arriving at Lyme Regis I was immediatly struck by how unspoilt it was. There was no ultra modern concrete-and-glass office complexes, no industrial estates,and no ugly multi-storey carparks (unfortunately Warwick and Stratford both suffer from all these). Instead everything olde worlde has been preserved...there are even thatched cottages close to the town centre. Although there is loads of car-parking, it is all tucked away discreetly, just out of the town centre. Kiss me quick hats and cheap souvenirs???...forget it. Regis - good haircut, bad atmosphere

Advantages: Good haircut. Appointment available at very short notice.
Disadvantages: Bad atmosphere - unfriendly, not welcoming. Difficult to contact by phone.

A friend recommended Regis, so I tried to phone and book an appointment at the Metro Centre salon - but the phone was always engaged. A few days before I was due to leave, I got through first thing in the morning and was amazed to get an appointment later that day.
