LIVING IN MUNICH
Review of Munich (Germany) by
Mataina
Advantages: clean | many clubs/bars/restaurants/shops | can earn much money
Disadvantages: expensive | sometimes too many people
...Hallo all of you!
Today I want to tell you something about Munich, the biggest town in bavaria (germany).
As you can tell from my horrible english, I'm a german girl. Since 3 years I go to munich at the weekends because my boyfriend lives here. Now, I'm actually living in this big town since one year and I want to tell you some facts about this town:
+ WORKING IN MUNICH +
To get a job in munich is not very easy! A lot of people have no job and are hanging around in parks every day. In munich we have especially BMW and SIEMENS, to very big employers.
When I'm talking to friends who don't live in Munich and I tell them what I (or friends) earn, they always look like "What? Now you're rich!". But that's not right because living in Munich is very, very expensive...
+ LIVING IN MUNICH +
Very expensive, like I said! For example...

Bayern Muenchen, Oktoberfest and Lederhosen
Review of Munich (Germany) by
theGerman
Advantages: sights, nightlife ...
Disadvantages: if its raining, it can be boring!
...... you combine this city with all these words. But there are a lot of more sights in Munich.
If I would do a trip through Munich I would take time for a week.
1st day: First I do a sightseeing tour with one of the sightseeing busses in Munich. Then I go for a walk through the "Englischer Garten" (English Garden) and relax a bit. For lunch, I go in a "Biergarten" (beergarden ;) ) and eat something. Then I walk through the city and look at the shops in the inner-city. For "dinner" I go to the "Hofbraeuhaus".
2nd day: For this day I don't plan very much because I am very tired from the last night in the Hofbraeuhaus (you drink a lot of beer in there). I go to the "Deutsche Museum" (German museum). Its a museum of physic.
3rd day: If I'm here in Septembre, I go to the Oktoberfest. (I think you all know what it is...

The Bustling Capital of Bavaria
Review of Munich (Germany) by
jackie-b
Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: None
...Having visited Munich three times in the last 6 months I’ve decided the time has come to write a little bit about it.
As most will know, Munich is a city situated in the south of Germany, otherwise known as the capital of the free state of Bavaria, which makes the place, as well as the people, quite different to the rest of Germany. Remember the castle in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? The lush green scenery of Bavaria? …And with a backdrop of the snow-capped mountains, Munich is a truly beautiful and exciting city to visit. Munich is easily accessible by plane from many UK airports and for anyone on a low budget or those of you who like a good deal, you can now fly on BMI Baby from East Midlands airport to Munich for a mere 25 pounds each way.
Munich has a wonderful history, recognised as being founded in the 12th century when Henry...

Champions League 2000/01
Review of Rangers by
toneboy7
Advantages: Cream of European competition
Disadvantages: Expensive tickets, sometimes boring opponents
...In a Champions League group with Monaco, Galatasaray and Sturm Graz the coming games represent the best chance Rangers have had to progress to the next phase in a number of years.
First and foremost Rangers are gelling even more as a team, and they went close enough to getting past Bayern Munich last year. Barring injuries this team will be even better in Champions League play this year.
Then look at the quality of the opponents. Sturm Graz are regular Champions League whipping boys, Monaco struggled to get past St. Johnstone in last year’s UEFA Cup and no longer have Fabien Barthez between the sticks. That just leaves Galatasaray.
Make no mistake, the Turkish champions and UEFA Cup holders will be the favourites to progress. They are also one of the most formidable teams to visit in European football, but that should not hold any...

Grab your litre of beer and slap those thighs
Review of Munich (Germany) by
free4susan
Advantages: Wonderful amazing city with something for everybody
Disadvantages: Unfriendly people in the service sector
...Although I have resided in Munich now for nearly a year, and previously spent 6 months here, I still get goosebumps when I think of just what a wonderful place it is. I was suprised to hear from friends who visited me recently that they had always thought Munich was an industrial city (with the likes of BMW, VW, etc) and hadn't realised just how beautiful it would be.
Munich is an amazing city. It really is the city with something for everyone. It has great shopping, the Marienplatz-Stachus area being particularly popular with tourists. Here you'll find all the usual high-street names, H&M, Zero, C&A, Body Shop. Also in the Universitaet area, near the university is another popular area. The prices in Munich are pretty similar to those in the UK though, so you probably won't be packing your suitcase with bargains. However, CDs...

DEUTSCHE MUSEUM
Review of Deutsche Museum, Munich by
Emrahsenel
Advantages: The largest museum of technology in the world, More than 15,000 exhibits, enbelievable size of the museum
Disadvantages: none
...I had to opportunity to see this museum a few years ago. I went to Munich from Austria just for one day or I can say just for a few hours. That’s why I couldn’t see Munich properly, However I was luck that I visited this museum.
Deutsches Museum is a world-famous museum. We were told that every year over one million people visit this museum. What makes it world-famous is that it is the largest museum of technology in the world. You cannot figure out how big it is before going to Munich and visiting the museum. It is located on an island in the city. The museum’s exhibition area spread over four floors. The museum has over 15.000 exhibits.
The museum is divided into 45 sections on four floors. You can see the original vehicles in the basement and on the ground floor. When you see all those cars, trains, aircrafts...

Munich Airport MUC
Review of Munich (MUC) by
Dalesman
Advantages: Excellent gateway to the Bavaria
Disadvantages: Huge, impersonal Airport, which is still under construction
...I arrived on the Dutch National carrier KLM and was quite impressed with our arrival off 24L via the inner taxiway and directly onto the airbridge..quite impressive, from touchdown to unloading was about 4 mins.....
The Airport was quite large, and is in the centre of a Parallell Runway system, very long terminal buildings lead to a maze of corridoors and escalators, however, my arrival was well handled and within 12 mins of landing we were through passport control with baggage and being greeted by our friends from Bavaria
on our return we got the Train to Munich Marionplatz and watched the Glochenspeil, had lunch at the Lowenbrauhaus and caught the S Bahn to the Airport...
KLM Check in was a bit hampered, on presentation of my KLM frequent flyer card the system went haywire and closed down, this took some 15 mins to resolve...

Spielburg's bold juxtaposition of two extremes
Review of Munich DVD by
harlequin21
Advantages: Incredibly harrowing; raw and authentic; superb score; politically relevant; takes no sides
Disadvantages: Spielburg expects audience to know what the film means; weak in parts; odd end
...Schindler's List has been the only time Steven Spielburg actually applied a human face to the aggressors of the Second World War. That said, this only applied to an extent, as Oskar Schindler was the only "good" Nazi in the film. Munich, however, is entirely different. He adds humanity to the two adversaries; the Israelis and the Palestinians. This is the key factor into what makes Munich such an utterly harrowing experience. His most daring film to date, dealing with an extremely sensitive topic, Spielburg shows why he's one of the world's top directors of all time.
Palestinian terrorists took eleven Israeli athletes hostage at the 1972 Munich Olympics, an attack that ended in complete disaster for both the terrorists and the hostages. In revenge, the Israeli government secretly dispatched a team of assassins, alias "Black September...

Right in the centre of Bavaria
Review of Munich (MUC) by
Gaeltacht
Advantages: good road signs, connected to 24h public transport, beautiful architecture, fast service
Disadvantages: the way from terminal F to the train
...Munich built its new airport in the early nineties, when the old Riem airport could no longer cope with the air traffic.
So the Bavarian government decided to build a new airport in the fields outside the city and they found their place near the towns of Erding and Freising.
As an arriving passenger you won't have any problems in getting your luggage or finding your way out. The system (usually) works quite fast.
If you need a taxi - no problem - just walk straight out of the building. It is more difficult, to find the car rental - counters or the train-station because their hidden somewhere in the 1mile long terminal building. Just try to follow the signs. The major problem of the airport is his location. It is right in the middle of nowhere. 45 minutes of driving or train riding get you from the airport into the city of Munich. Critics...
