A great PS2 game!

Advantages: Great fun with friends and really good price - get into the olympic spirit!
Disadvantages: Not as fun on your own

...Hi this is going to be a review on the game Beijing Olympics 2008 for the Xbox 360 Lets get on with it! Well this game is amazing there is loads of different games (38 over 10 sports) which makes it last for ever. I will talk a bit about a few of the games now 100 Metres in this game you have to use the left right thumb stick or rapidly press A and B like most of the running games there is one problem when using the thumb stick it hurts!!! I have about 5 cuts on my hand and a few blisters they really didn't think about it when they made it them buttons! There is also 200m 400m 110 Metre Hurdles in this its just the same as the 100 Metres except there is hurdles and to jump the hurdles you have to press the LT button or left trigger. 800 Metres and 1500 Metres in this you do the same in the 100 Metres except you don...

...Athens 2004 is a game in which you can try and live out your olympic dream and go for gold in a huge number of sports. You can chhose to represent a large selection of countries including USA, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, Cuba and of cours Great Britain. EVENTS There are a massive number of events that you can compete in and i will try my best to go through them all. 1) Running Events : 100m, 200m 400m, 800m, 1500m and 110m hurdles. The 100m through to the 400m are controlled by basically moving your fingers between the x and o buttons as fast as possible which i found was sore on your fingers after a while, especially the 400m. The 800m and 1500m have are different in that you use the analog sticks and have to time when you start your sprint. If you sprint to early you will run out of energy and won't finish...

It's like an update of Daly Thompson Decathlon!!!

Advantages: Lots of events to try
Disadvantages: A bit too easy in places

...Way back in the 80's i was addicted to Daly's Decathlon on the old Sinclair Speccy - this is just like it only much better as you would expect on a console like the PS2. The graphics are great, there are loads of different events, and the controls for each event are varied - which prevents you from getting bored. You can either play the events one by one and try to get Gold, Silver or Bronze in each event or you can play every event in one big competition - which really tests your all round skills. Athlectics. In the Athletics arena you have :-100m, 200m, 400m 800m, 1500m, 100m and 110m hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump,pole vault, discus, javelin and shot put. I always dreamed of winning the Olympics!

Advantages: Excellent graphics, range of playing skills
Disadvantages: hurts your hands and fingers after a while

...and while I'm picking fault I noticed the game is suitable for ages 3+! Having played the game I don't know any 3 year old that could realistically compete in these events, they are far to hard! There is event commentary throughout, but after hearing each phrase a few times it gets a bit repetitive, but I tend not to pay too much attention. This game has one major thing going for it, to my knowledge it is the only game of its kind on the market (at least for the PS2) and it gets a big thumbs up from me. It is a refreshing alternative type of game to have in any game lovers collection and I would definitely get this game if you have a competitive group of friends or family.
