Siemens M55 - Total Disappointment
Advantages: can be used as a data modem
Disadvantages: bad buttons, can't change the case, short battery life, small memory, slow processing
...I have been using a Siemens M55 mobile phone for over 3 years. It was my first cell phone but I can easily say I was not able to get what I expected from it.
You can never know the disadvantages of a product if you don't use another and compare. After using another phone I saw that Siemens M55 has many disadvantages and doesn't worth the money you would pay for it.
It doesn't have any free communication options such as bluetooth or infrared. You can't send or recieve any data (like photos, music or anything else) to your friends without using MMS or GPRS and it costs extra money.
The buttons on the panel are not satisfying because they make noises as you push. If you are keen on sending SMS messages, then this product is NOT a good idea for you. Additionally, you can't change the colors of it as it doesn't have the option to change...

so what more do you want?
Advantages: small, compact and mine's orange!
Disadvantages: no camera, crap games, fiddly keys
...It's a mobile phone, it's small and mobile and you can phone people with it AND recieve calls, so what more do you want?
Well a camera would be nice, but for the cheap price (i picked it up for 49.99 about 2 years ago) you won't get that.
Rubber keys rather than plastic would be good too - the keys are so small on this phone that it makes it difficult in the extreme when you can't dig a nail into one to press it. Another annoying thing about the keys is that the directional keys are all on one pad that needs to be pressed in the direction you want to go, this is hard to with rigid keys. A good thing about the keys is that the numbers/letters glow red when you press them, so they can be seen in the dark.
Changeable covers would also be a bonus - apparently you can get them but i've never seen any covers for a M55.......My...

Portable FM Fun
Advantages: Small, Great Headphones, Jog-Dial
Disadvantages: No Noteable Disadvantages
...The Sony SRF-M55 is a very neat digital FM tuner that really can be described as wearable. It is about the size of a cigarette lighter so is easily pocketed or clipped to clothing. Small FM radios like this use their headphone cable as an aerial, in the main this works very well but reception can be patchy indoors or in very built up areas. The headphones supplied with the SRF-M55 are the excellent Sony 'Groove' style of fitted, in-ear headphones. They are comfortable to wear and provide excellent sound reproduction and as they are securely fitted into the ear are near impossible to shake loose. This makes them ideal for runners or to be worn while working out at the gym.
The FM tuner allows up to 15 preset stations. Tuning is simple and storing your favourite stations is a breeze. The Sony 'jog-dial' performs most functions for this...

Can you here the tunes
Advantages: Minidisc features, cheaper than others
Disadvantages: Bass not very good, Complicated control panel.
...I have to admit that this little Aiwa number wouldn't have been my automatic first choice for a new system. We all know how easy it is to get sucked into the name game of buying. It just so happened that this Aiwa was on sale for a few quid less than his other more well established brothers and i thought, well they all do the same job don't they?
The Aiwa XR-M55 is an ugly machine, there is no denying that. The metallic control panel on the front consists of two rather large circle control dials which sort out the sound and the CD tracker. The speakers are based around a 'pine-ish' structure with the aparrant addition of "Powered Subwoofers". Let me tell you at this point that the sound quality is good but i have found that the bass element of the system is not very good. Even with full bass on there is no, errr how can i put it...

Awful Battery Life
Advantages: tiny, great look, good range of features
Disadvantages: One of the worst battery lives
...The attractive, chrome 8810 weighs in at just 118 grams (inc. standard battery) and is really tiny. However, you pay for the small size with a very poor standby (36 hours) and talktime (100 minutes). The LCD screen is extremely detailed and holds up to 5 lines of text. The phone is capable of holding 250 names and numbers in addition to the sim card capacity.
Other features include a calendar, calculator, cell info display (telling you what area phone code you are currently in), 3 games, and infra red. Another useful feature is the ?profiles? function which allows you to personalise various aspects of the phone for different situations (such as meetings, car use, normal use etc) allowing to you to customise the ringtone used, ringer volume, vibrate on/off etc....

A ok phone
Advantages: looks coooooool
Disadvantages: sratches and chips so easy ,looks one year old after six months, poor battery life.
...The nokia 8810 looks wise says quality, but looks soon fade.
Scratch after scratch then the silver paint peels around all edges, and then the phone is no longer silver but tatty white plastic ,apart from the battery which is metal but scratch so,so easy.
I take care of it i dont abuse it but lets face it is a silver phone ,you know what stainless steel looks like afer to touch it,it shows greasey hands prints, not that my hands are excessivly greasey.
Performane wise it is not looking good ,it is getting on now there is better phones around. No ariel,it is built in,so that means one thing bad reception some times ,i have compared it to my old ga628 and that has better reception. They also break down ,i have had three new 8810's are had the same problem, they switch them selves off?.
Battery wise sorry to say 30hrs if your lucky.
It does...

NEW NOKIA!!!!!!!!
Advantages: looks great
Disadvantages: price tag
...The 8810 model is dressed in a glorious shiny metal case which has that silvery look. This is probably the best looking phone around.
The phone is also tiny but that comes at a price-£250.
The 8810 has a vibrate alerting system and a infrared modem as standard.
The menu system is lovely and the keypad is very comprehensive yet very compact. There is a slider to protect the keypad but unfortunately for those who like to look cool it can only be used when answering calls.
What I've said so far portrays this as a diamond but unfortunately there are problems. The internal antenna only provides mediocre reception in areas where the network coverage is best.
It is another Nokia with a bad talk time although its stand by time seems to be everlasting.
The beautiful cover gets scratched reguarly and needs to be polished if...

TINY
Advantages: Tiny
Disadvantages: Price
...Quality speaks for itself. You can tell a lot about a person when you meet and shake hands. And you can tell a lot about the Nokia 8810 by picking it up, holding it and admiring it. You can see that this is a mobile phone that was designed with care, one that you will carry with pride. But you cannot always judge a book by its cover, no matter how beautiful. Look beneath the surface, and the Nokia 8810 gets even better. You might call it chemistry, electricity, magic. It is a sixth sense that makes you want to pick up the Nokia 8810 and say "I want this." If asked to explain, you might say you like the materials, the size or the weight. It's all of these and none of them. You like the Nokia 8810 because it is well-designed and technicall advanced. But you love it because of a perception of its enduring quality. How do you know? A sixth...

ibm does good again
Advantages: ibms past record
Disadvantages: poor choice of graphics port
...I've got one of these, in fact I'm writing this review on it right now. I bought it for £200 at my local auctions 2 years ago (14th Feb 2007 to be exact) & I'm still getting great use out of it. It looks sleek with its all black case, keyboard & mouse.
It's really easy to do upgrades on as it requires no tools to open the case or remove any parts. I upgraded the dvd-rom in mine to a rewriter & it took minutes to do & was as quick to get running & burning with.
It might not have a super high powered graphics card but the on-board chip handles games pretty well. I've been able to play both Quake 4 & Half Life 2 at fairly decent speeds.
The port to fit a graphics card is a slightly annoying issue as it's intended for a standard PCI card & I was expecting to find an AGP port but I guess thats the price you pay for buying what was only...
