...As I am sure most Ciao members will now know, I am a professional photographer but as well as taking pictures I also hold photography seminars at my local camera club and over the last few years I have become somewhat of a target for sales persons asking me to try out their latest digital cameras and give talks and written reviews on them.
I figured a couple of years back if I was going to be testing out all these cameras and doing reviews anyway then I may as well be posting them on Ciao and Dooyoo and making some money for charity which as you well know is what I do now.
The latest camera to be handed to me is the Pentax Optio M60 and as you read on you will find that this little digital camera is a real breath of fresh air. For months now I have been handed very expensive digital point and shoot cameras that claim to be able...

Review of Pentax Optio M60
Advantages: Slim, light, Good Quality Disadvantages: None so far but cant answer for a professional.
...The PENTAX Optio M60 is a slim 10-megapixel, 5x zoom ultra-compact Digital Camera i recently purchased for £100 including VAT. Not being a professional photographer most of the camera's use as been for fun with the occasional attempt at some landscape shooting but never the less even with my amateur hand still gives good quality pictures.
The camera is aluminium and well made adding to the products value for money as it looks alot more expensive than it actually is. Looking more functional than flash it is easy to hold with a finger grip on the front and an area on the back for your thumb. The camera is small, less then 10cm in length and 6cm in depth. The camera's layout is good with the buttons well spaced making it easy to use. With the batteryand memory card its still very light and easy to carry due to its size. Its the kinda...

...The Zen Vision: M is a portable media player that has the capabilities to play music, videos, photos and a radio. It was developed by Creative Technology to rival Apple?s Ipod and to date has successfully done this. Released in late 2005 it has gone on to win many awards most of which compose of best in its category.

This 60 GB version has a black front and a white back. The dimensions for the entire device are 10.4cm x 6.2cm x 1.86cm and it weighs 163g. The display screen is a 2.5? backlit TFT LCD and has the resolution 320x240. The last fact that it is 18bit with 262, 1444 colours. Enough of the technical specs, me too. It looks sleek with its curvy edges. There are a variety of themes that you can set to change...
Advantages: Lovely to look at, great screen well featured in terms of hardware Disadvantages: Poor keyboard layout, sticky keys, overly sensitive touchpad
...I purchased my Toshiba M60 144 on a whim, my colleague and I had been looking at laptops for over a month and I told him to just choose one buy it and don't look back, we had been trying to find the ultimate laptop in the 999-1299 price range. In the end my colleague settled for a small Sony VIAO and I went for this huge Toshiba. Overall I am happy, the machine is quick with the 1.86 Centrino providing good core performance. I am not really after a super power machine and if anybody is after one of those then I suggest Alienware's new range of mobile workstations. Unbeatable power however the cost is quite high too. My work tends to oscillate between very intensive computations and simple tasks such as basic word processing, database and algorithm development. Therefore I cannot use any laptop in general for the more intensive tasks...
Advantages: Massive multi media capacity. Backs-up your digital camera without a PC Disadvantages: Easy to scratch. It won't record radio. Getting DVD files ready for download is fiddly
...There's a curious correlation between home computing hardware and personal music players - I'm trying to avoid calling them mp3 players, because they don't all use mp3 files.
In the first instance, you got staunch Apple Mac users versus the conglomeration of other PC users whose machines come under the banner of IBM-compatibles.
The personal stereo market is somewhat similar. Everyone's heard of an iPod, the Apple offering, but the rest just fall into some sort of generic mp3 category.
Like Macs, iPods tend to win on the cosmetic front too, but of course, being the 'Bang & Olufsen' of the personal stereo set doesn't make you technically the best, in the same way that B&O isn't the best hi-fi by a mile.
I've got no specific axe to grind vis-à-vis iPods. My wife's got one, or rather somehow 'mine' became 'ours' became 'hers...
Advantages: 60GB of storage Disadvantages: graphics - not that well thoughtout

I've been a design critic for these types of PMP for a couple of years, and yet the Vision: M series has 'almost' ticked all the boxes; which has surprised me. It 's glossy and colourful HD monitor is very smooth and has reached a standard that any-one could not draw fault over.
The MP3 Portable Media Player is compatible with JPEG customary images, that are online/web based; so for those of you wanting...
Advantages: Capacity, video playback, quite pretty, good menus, many features Disadvantages: Easily goes wrong, and does so disastrously
...I was bought this back in July, as a gift for passing my driving test.
I already have a Sony 6GB mp3 player, but as I have about 20 times that much music on various hard drives, I thought I'd go for something with a bigger capacity. And it plays video too!
I had a Creative Zen Xtra 30GB for Christmas back in 2004. I loved it, I really did. Until it decided it wasn't going to work any more after 9 months. Hard drive problems. It's still sitting, as a paperweight in a drawer.
So, I thought, "Creative have had a few years to sort these problems out, I'll try with a new one".
I was going to go for the 30Gb model, until I saw that Amazon had the 60GB for £159 - £90 off. Great!
A great thing about it is that you can use it with Linux - which I currently use on my laptop. So, I transferred a ton of music and quite a few...
Advantages: Space, Colour, Ease of use, price, features, sound and image quality Disadvantages: None taht I can note
...August 31st 2006, Creative announced the launch of the 60 Gig version of the Zen Vision:M. I was dubious about buying one because there seems to be so much out there and when you do buy something like this, it's almost out of date before you get home!
I bought mine in the Xmas sales at a cost of £150 and have used it for 2 months. To put you in the picture I have a round trip of about 30 miles each day for work which includes a short drive, a long train ride and a few minutes walk. Every day I take my Zen with me and the last thing I do before I get out of the car at the train station is put on some tunes!
I'm a metal fan, thrash metal to be exact and I listen to a lot of very loud, fast beating, screaming, shredding, bassy music. Until I bought the Zen I used my Sony Ericsson W810i for the trip but kept having annoying...
