...Apple mac-books, where to start... ok, so to start, it is an apple, that means you get a solid quality product and on the whole very good customer are. this particualar apple is deffinatly more suited to being a media center than other laptops. At first glance you realise that it is a fairly large laptop, this allows for a big screen, which being an apple ffers clear vivid displays, unfortunatly the big screen increases the overal size and also uses more battery, however, the 4.5 hour yattery is still very good for an entertainment laptop. The laptops technical specs include a very fast 2.5 ghz dual core proccesor which is very fast, the dual core allows it to tackle multiple tasks quicly as well as increasing the overall speed of the laptop. Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 13.3" - I'm a convert

Advantages: Stylish, flexible, super fast startup
Disadvantages: Pricey compared to a PC

Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz - 13.3" TFT - excellent!

Advantages: portable, runs very fast, large storage with TimeMachine application for backing up your work
Disadvantages: some problems with using Safari, though this may be due to the wireless network I am using, costs!

...In my opinion, the Apple Macbook Pro is an ideal laptop. As a student, I find that it meets all my needs - I can store plenty of music, photos etc even though I bought the cheapest one with the smallest memory. The system operates very fast and comes with both Firefox and Safari. My only criticism is that it only comes with textedit and so you have to buy iWorks for around £65. However, despite this it is good value for money and I don't regret spending my 2 years worth of part-time earnings on it! It has everything I want from a laptop and is ideally portable and good for watching films despite the smaller screen size. Another feature I particularly liked was that it has a light up keyboard for when you are in darker rooms - you can adjust the brightness of the keyboard the same as you can for the screen. Advantages: Smooth, silent, good looking, more than capable, satisfying.
Disadvantages: Arguably the cost, some very minor issues in very few cases.

iMac Core 2 Due 20" TFT

Advantages: Screen, Webcam, amazing processer speed
Disadvantages: With mine the Wifi can sometimes be an issue

...router. My Ibook never ever had this problem. Also some times when surfing the internet the Wifi drops out, this could be a problem with my router and ISP but im not sure. THe IMac comes with apples own word processing and spreadsheet software, Itunes, Iphoto, Garageband and various other packages so its just as cabaple as a windows machine for everyday use. I did purchase Office for Mac though so I could be doubly sure of compatibility issues. Iphoto is a great package for storing your photos and its easy to sort them out too, this is probably the package I use the most, after the internet. The sound from the IMac is really good quality to and its easy to adjust with the buttons on the keyboard. Setting up the computer is easy too, just USB connections for the keyboard and mouse and its easy to transfer any of your old software...

My Mac Mini :)

Advantages: Cheaper than iMac, looks really cool, is quiet (great for music production) and small, & Mac OS X!
Disadvantages: price (if you don't mind PC's), may get you hooked an Apple as I am and will take all your money

...I am a big Apple fan and have had more ipods than you can shake a stick at, so when i started my music tech course at college and worked with macs everyday, I couldnt resist having a play with them in the Apple shop. Two jobs and 4 pay slips later, I ordered my Mac Mini! Initially I had looked at iMacs as they seemed to have a lot more feature than the base Mac Mini, but the price was a bit too much for me, so I opted for the 2ghz Mac Mini with 2gb Ram (optional extra) and 120gb hard drive. First thing is first. It is the coolest looking thing I own without a doubt. It is so small and quiet it takes up virtually no space on my desk. It is only slightly bigger than a CD box! Advantages: Speed, looks, ease of use.
Disadvantages: None

...I bought my iMac as I my "PC" was due for replacement and had become unreliable. A few of my friends have iMacs and I was instantly grabbed by the design and ease of use when I sat in front of one. Some of this is due to the software that comes pre-loaded onto the iMac. I went for the 2GB version with the 2.66 Processor as the prices had just dropped. The iMac boots up lightening quick compared to my PC. In around 15 seconds I can be using the system and launching programs is really quick too. The screen is extremely clear and at 20 inch - large enough for most people to use as their home computer. I thought I would be keeping the PC to one side to use when the iMac didn't have the ability to do a certain job but I have thrown it away now as everything I need to do works.
