Disadvantages: Hardware-hog, pricey upgrade from Panther.

Mac OS is the best
Advantages: very hish spec, value for money and looks great
Disadvantages: can compatibility issues with some software
...complaint about OS X is that it only comes with the equivalent of a slightly improved notepad (which is OK for minor typing) and a test drive of Microsoft Office. I would recommend that you buy Office for Mac.
