Old Macdonald had a 5-star Hotel - eee ai eee ai oh
Advantages: It's spectacular and surprisingly quiet and the best location in the city
Disadvantages: Parking, high prices.
...As a student at Oxford University in the late 1980s, the Randolph seemed like the physical embodiment of the class divide that afflicted poor kids like me who came from state schools from the much wealthier students who took the affluence and grandeur of the city's finest hotel entirely in their stride. I'd never been in such a grand hotel and the closest thing to a grand building in my home city was the local branch of Lloyds Bank.
My flat mates' parents would arrive each term and take us out to the Randolph for rather staid Sunday lunches in the spectacular high ceilinged dining room where we'd sit and watch the world cycle by through the tall windows. By contrast my parents would visit bringing a bag full of fish and chips or a Chinese take-away. I can't really say that we enjoyed the Randolph that much more than a take...

Macdonald Hotels The Last Drop Village
Advantages: old site, friendly staff
Disadvantages: rude guests, and no dry walkways between buildings
...Im not writing this as a review of the hotel from a guests point of view but a staff members view.
I was a member of the bars team at this hotel for 18 months on a casual basis. Firstly the hotel is near Bolton in Bromley Cross, to get to it, there is a train station in Bromley x itself, also buses run from bolton to bromley x, although these dont run up to the hotel. A taxi from boton centre costs about 5 pounds.
Id not recommend getting the bus as the hotel is up a hill and the hill is quite steep, trains run i think hourly between bolton and blackburn (bromley x is a minor station on this line). Once on the hotel site the first thing you will notice is the lawns to either side of the driveway. At the top of the drive is the small car park, this is the best place to park while you check in at reception. The hotel is made up...

The archetypal Oxford hotel of unbridled luxury
Advantages: Beautiful ambiance, sybaritic surroundings, unrivalled dining experience (especially Afternoon Tea), polite and helpful staff
Disadvantages: Expensive!
...Oxford, a seasoned city of culture and erudite beauty, is peppered with dreaming spires and archaic edifices. In keeping with the city's understated beauty and elegance is The Macdonald Randolph Hotel, or more simply, The Randolph.
Built in 1864 by the architect William Wilkinson, the Victorian Gothic hotel stands dignified on a street of Georgian facade, opposite the world famous Ashmolean Museum. A skip and a jolly hop (or 200m if you're stoically set on metric) from city centre, it is one of the most central hotels. It is this distinctive architectural history and location that marks The Randolph as the ideal bedrock for exploring Oxford.
Having attended university at Oxford, there was never quite a good enough reason to obliterate my bank account (and the possibility of any future loan-related banter with the HSBC) on a night...

Amazing Hotel and Location in Bath
Advantages: Great Location In Bath
Disadvantages: Parking is expensive in Bath
...We live near Bath anyway, and have often walked past The Francis Hotel. We decided to do a local weekend break in Bath (and have a few bevvies in the evening!). Note that it is now a "Mercure" Hotel and not a "Macdonald" Hotel.
If you are after a cheap bargain, then book The Francis via the following website as it's £35 cheaper than the mercure hotels official website: www.benbow.org.uk/francis.htm
The Francis is ideally located in the center of Bath. I don't think you can get any closer. There are numerous restaurants around the corner, and the theatre is nearby. The main shopping streets of Bath are really only a couple of minutes away (although i'd allow a good few hours to browse them).
The Francis itself overlooks a small park square. Quite often they have a french travelling market located here. The rooms are very good...

Randolph Hotel - Expensive Luxury
Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely rooms, good service
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and dining isn't the best
...Myself and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel in April this year and we were very happy with our stay. The staff were friendly from the moment we stepped through the doors and the hotel itself is not only in a perfect location for seeing the city, but is also lovely in a very old school way. This is not a moder hotel and you will see a lot of plush red carpets and oak furnishings.
We stayed for two nights, ordering breakfast on both mornings and dining in the 2 rossetta awarded restaurant on the first evening at a cost of £260 for the first night and £210 for the second. For what it was breakfast was quite pricey (be aware that there is a £7 tray charge for room service) and we weren't given much. A full english breakfast consisted of one flat mushroom, one small sausage and slice of bacon and a tomato. There was an awful lot...

I have chosen to write a review on this Hotel as in the area I live in it has quite a good reputation. I have stayed in the Hotel a few times and have held a Birthday Party here for my mothers 60th. I shall give you my personal experience with some relevant hotel facts and history.

Beautiful Location, Expensive Hotel
Advantages: Excellent location with beautiful views over the loch
Disadvantages: Food and drink is very expensive
...>>>>Overview<<<<
Macdonald Hotels have 40 hotels situated all over the UK. They have hotels in rural areas as well as in busy towns and city centres. They have mostly 4 and 5 star hotels and claim to offer impeccable service, fine cuisine and first class accommodation for a memorable stay.
We decided to go away for a relaxing few days and chose the Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel as this looked like it would be perfect for us! "Hidden away amid 250 acres of breathtaking Perthshire countryside lies an enduring testament to the charm of Highland living. With its comfortable lounges, sumptuous bedrooms and stunning views, Loch Rannoch Hotel is a reminder of gentler, less hurried times".

Five star treatment but five star prices!
Advantages: wonderful hotel
Disadvantages: expensive
...We have just returned from a wonderful night staying at the Randolph Hotel (part of the McDonald group) in Oxford. It was the hotel where my husband's work was holding its post Christmas event and we decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay in the hotel. It was a lovely occasion and I came home feeling thoroughly spoilt.
The Randolph is an old hotel in the centre of Oxford. It was actually built in 1864 and although it has been recently refurbished it still retains a lovely old fashioned feel to it. I was surprised to see when I looked at the websites that it has 151 en-suite rooms because it really does not feel that big. Having said that though, we had to go along a couple of rambling corridors on the third floor to get to our room, and it did feel like a bit of a warren so I guess there were lots of areas of the hotel I...

Wow this hotel is marvellous, well recommended
Advantages: Feel like royalty, loads to do
Disadvantages: Quite expensive drinks in the bar
...This hotel is well worth the money and I have recommended this hotel to other people in work and they have thought the same.
We received an email from Macdonald to say they had special offers on certain hotels so we looked into them further. We chose this one as it had a wide range of facilities and was only an hour away from where we live so was a nice weekend break.
When we arrived, wow! the place is stunning. It is a castle-like building with a courtyard attached. There is no problem with parking as that is plentiful too. We got out of the car and walked up the red carpet to the reception.
The reception staff were so helpful, I was amazed at how much they made you feel valued and it cost about £20 extra than a travelodge would.
We decided to try their leisure facitlies out, a pool, a jacuzzi, a gym and 5 heat rooms. One was...

"Amy Macdonald This is your life"
Advantages: Good voice
Disadvantages: Too much Irish Folk
...**Introduction**
The Then 20 year old Amy Macdonald became a suprise hit around this time last year when her debut album This is Life was one of the biggest sellers. The Scottish born Macdonald has had some people thinking she was Irish for due to her singing voice having a distinct Irish tone. Here is a little bit about her rise to stardom. She started writing and performing songs at the age of 15 around Glasgow and sent a demo cd away after an NME advert. She was then signed to the production company 'Melodramatic'. She is now with Mercury Records.
**This is the life**
Released on 30 July 2007 This is the Life is one of those rare albums that took nearly six months to rise to the top of the album charts. The single that caused the huge rise in album sales was undoubtedly This is the life which was the single when the album...
