A HOTEL WITH AN IDENTITY CRISIS

...A late May visit to Belfast unusually saw me having my accommodation booked for me, and after my much disputed opinion over the Europa Hotel, the choice, made by Belfast University was Madisons, part of the Botanic Inn Group, a Belfast based company. As I always do when knowing where I am staying, it was a hop off to Google and Ciao to see if I could find out anything about it, Google 10, Ciao NIL ? so of course the next step was to get the hotel listed ready for my return. On its website (www.madisonshotel.com) it describes itself as a: ?Cafe bar, nightclub and a hotel. It?s about fun. It?s about having a great night out, a fabulous weekend away, or letting your hair down while away on business? I cannot comment on the booking process as this was completed on my behalf, however, in contrast to my visits to Glasgow...

Billy Madison review

Advantages: Stupidly funny!
Disadvantages: Not very original

...Billy Madison is another comedy film starring the as yet unknown at the time Adam Sandler. It was made in 1995 when Sandler was still on Saturday Night Live. Adam Sandler plays the titular character; he's 27 and the son of Bryan Madison (Darren McGavin), a very rich hotel magnate. So he has never worked a day in his life and doesn't know the true meaning of money as everything is just given to him. But Bryan is retiring, and is torn about whether to give it to Billy or to Eric Gordon (Bradley Whitford), a slimy co-worker at Madison Hotels. So Billy strikes a deal with his dad: he will go through each school grade and pass their exams in a short period of time in order for him to become the head of the company. If he fails, it goes to Gordon. And if that isn't enough pressure, he gets heckled at school, goofs off as much as he can...

...Having had mixed views on Sandler films in the past, I was flicking through the sky movies channels (as i so often do) on friday night and stumbled across 'Billy Madison'. Billy Madison is a comedy film made in 1995 which is directed by Tamra Davis. The film is co-written by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy, and the film is produced by Universal Pictures. So what is it all about? ------------------------------ When Brian Madison (Darren McGavin) makes a decision to retire from the hotel chain that he owns, it would seem that the logical choice would be to hand down the business to his only son, Billy (Adam Sandler). The problem is that Billy just so happens to be a complete delinquent that has absolutely not concept of how to look after himself, let alone a multi-million dollar company. A quieter side to Blackpool.

Advantages: Clean, friendly and great value for money.
Disadvantages: None worthy of mention during my two night stay.

...I am not long back from a weekend trip to Blackpool but as I have already reviewed the hotel I stayed in, as I had stayed there before, I thought I would rewind to a business trip I had to Blackpool last year and a nice hotel I stayed in then. The hotel in question for my business trip was the Belgrave Madison hotel, this hotel was recommended to me by a friend and I was very happy with his recommendation. My friend had told me of the great service, friendly atmosphere and the disconnection with what Blackpool is all about (ie) noise and hustle and bustle, and he was 100% correct. The hotel is situated in a much quieter part of Blackpool, it sits on the queen?s promenade, north shore, it is actually right on the join of Blackpool and Bispham, it is set on the cliffs and has a beautiful sea view and whether the weather is good...

Whether you are a sports fan or not most people have heard of this great entertainment centre. History I fact there have been four Madison Square Gardens ( MSG from now on). The First Garden 1 (1879- 1890 ) Garden 1 was situated at Madison Square; 26th Street and Madison Avenue. It was a building without a roof and was named MSG by William Vanderbilt in 1879 and was used for horse shows, dog shows and circuses. Boxing events were also staged there. The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

She also directed Crossroads staring Britney Spears. Adam Sandler plays Billy Madison the main character in this film. Billy is a lazy young man who spends his days drinking and hanging around with his friends. His father is a millionaire hotel owner who is looking to retire and turn the company over to his only son but because billy is lazy he has second thoughts and decides to pass it onto his Vice President Eric instead of Billy. Billy and Eric can't stand each other so Billy bets Eric and his father that he can complete grades 1-12 in about 6 months (2 weeks for each grade). If he succeeds, he takes over the company. If he loses, however, Eric will in fact take over Madison Hotels...

Hotel International

Advantages: Location, breakfasts

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

...****Sachas hotel- Manchester**** I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre. **Location/Getting there** This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station.The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places.You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car. **Reception/staff** Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out.When i got there i think i got the same...

...When we decided to make a return trip to Benalmedina we opted to go to the four star Hotel Las Arenas as it was recommended by friends. It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located. Reception On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access. There is a large board telling you about entertainment available during the day and at night. The whole area was laid out for wheelchair access...
