Advantages: easy and clean
Disadvantages: more shops needed

...Hand luggage, bottles, fags and the cuddle toy... and the sombrero...Madrid Airport has undertaken a complete transformation over the past two years. I regular travel to the city and have to pass through and sometimes spend hours in it. For a European Capital airport the shops in the terminal are a not a numerous as they could be althogh you do get the normal sunglass, bar and "duty free" shopping experience that most airport give you. The airport is always clean and the staff helpful and you can normally get a seat in one of the lounges. One problem that I did find is that trolleys for hand luggage, bottles, cigarettes and the cuddly toy are few and far between so grab one if you can!! Getting to and from the airport is fairly easy although you have to watch the old taxi drivers who like to overcharge!! - The busses are...

Review of Madrid (MAD)

Holiday Inn Madrid

Advantages: Nice staff, clean, kettle in the room
Disadvantages: The local area, rather expensive

...This is yet another hotel stayed in when travelling with work. It's a four star hotel (Ciao has it listed as a three star) and is located in the business district in Madrid. The Estadio Santiago Bernabeau, the home of Real Madrid football club is also very close by if you are interested in football. Public transport is very good-metro station and bus stop near by, the bus is one Euro into central Madrid and unlike London they have plenty of bus lanes and regular services-every 5 minutes. And no over-crowding or rubbish strewn everywhere! The hotel itself is a typical sprawling 1980's concrete block. The surrounding area is a bit dodgy at night and opposite the hotel is a boarded up cinema. In fact the whole area is pretty much a concrete jungle and I would be careful with going out after dark as it's pretty deserted once...

Alicante Airport

Advantages: Good location, decent amenities
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use. It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km. Arrivals You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few. ...Chicago airport. On a recent visit to san Diego, we had to have a stop in Chicago airport for a couple of hours...most of my travelling seems to be spent in airports! It was the busiest airport in the United States until Atlanta became the busiest and it was apparently voted best airport in North America in 2000...that's 8 years ago so i don't know which airport has been winning since then. The airport is 20 miles from downtown Chicago but since we weren't actaully going to Chicago we didn't actally leave the airport so I can't comment on the transport links. **The Terminals** Of course when stuck in an airport these are the places you see most often. ...the same, a grid of rows and rows of tall buildings, grey, years worth of old torn billboard posters layered over one another...In essence, in my opinion, Madrid is not an attractive city..the best bit?? at the airport on the way home...

Advantages: good location for northern Poland, quiet, small,
Disadvantages: very limited shopping and catering

Good Airport Hotel

Advantages: reasonably-priced rooms, clean modern facilities, near airport
Disadvantages: no easy access to city centre

...I and various members of my friends and family have stayed here several times as it is within walking distance of my Dad's house and sometimes there are too many people for him to put up. Location They run free half hour shuttle buses to the airport which is great. It is only about 5-10 minutes from the main Madrid airport. It is not so easy to get into the centre of Madrid by public transport from there though - you need to take a 10 minute walk to the 77 bus then go to the nearest metro at Canillejas then take the metro to where ever you want to go. This would take an hour or more, say to get to the Prado or Puerta del Sol or similar. A taxi would be about 20 mins though so for most people that's the best bet. Belfast International Airport

Advantages: Internet, Cheap car parking
Disadvantages: Can get boring after 18 hours

...Belfast International Airport (Belfast Aiport) I flew out of belfast airport around four years ago, when I did fly out of the airport it was a bad time to fly out. The day before we where to depart to orlando the shoe bomber came on the scene! So the airport secuirty was put up. But the airline I was travelling with most of their planes had Technical difficuilties. So I was delayed for 30 hours and had to stay in the Hilton over night. So I should be able to tell you enough about it as I was in it for 24 hours. Area... The Belfast airport isn't in belfast, it is closer to Antrim a city near belfast. The airport is around 12 or 13 miles away from Belfast. So I don't know why they called it Belfast International Airport. But there is a hotel beside the airport. So if you have a early flight and you coudn't be bothered to get up...
