...5 years ago, my father and I were looking around a second-hand car dealer. I was on the lookout for my first car. I had saved up for months, and I was ready to spend my hard-earned cash!! "How about this one?" my Dad asked. He had found a G reg Rover Maestro 1.3L. My first thought was "it?s an old mans car" but just to keep the peace, I had a look. The car was very clean and tidy, but with a few rust spots on the wheel arches. The Interior was very simple and looked surprisingly modern for a car of that age. I was so impressed with it, I took it for a test drive and later bought it. I didn?t realise that this would be the beginning of 5 very happy years of motoring. The 1.3 never let me down, and the only repair work I had done was for the exhaust and the front brakes - even that was usual wear and tear! I kept the 1.3 up until...

Advantages: Brilliant Features. Extremely easy to use. Built in SD card reader.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey compared to other GPS systems.

505 the neighbour of the devil

...the fastest MG ever. Only 505 were built and this has to be the ultimate hot hatch, because it was a normal everyday car a bit bland to some people but the MG marque breathed its fire on to it and it became the daddy. Inside it was pretty much the usual maestro story plasticy dash etc. but added to that gripping and very supportive seats enblazoned with the MG logo, leather stearing wheel, red seat belts. One disadvantage is the brakes deffinatley can't handle the turbo charged engine. body kit by tickford makes it look well mean....

...Clapped out runabout or economical town car? Both! I am not going to pretend a car of this generation does not have its problems but it also has its good points. THE CAR The maestro was first produced in 1983 and 596,000 cars were made. The model is available in 1.3, 1.6 litre petrol engine or 2.0 litre diesel or diesel turbo. The maestro has a four cylinder engine and reaches a maximum of between 93 and 101 mph depending on the model (but take it from me with a tail wind and a steep slope you can try for more!). The 0-60 statistics don’t quite rank with a Porsche and range from the 1.6 model at 10.5 seconds to the 2.0 litre diesel at a lethargic 16 seconds. Not a car for avid drag racers. Philharmonics in the Hizzouse!!

Advantages: Well presented, easily accesible, good variety of ability scales.
Disadvantages: Not exactly High-octane stuff. Simple graphics

...Whenever people talk about the Austin-Rover Maestro, people seem to just write it off as a complete and useless failure, I have to stick up for it though and say it was actually a hell of a lot better than everyone seems to think. There was always going to be a certain publicity problem amongst the British press and British people because the Maestro was the car that replaced the Austin Allegro, and the Allegro was famed for wheels flying off whilst driving and windscreens popping out whilst the car was jacked up.
