...I recently bought this navigation system for my car. I am not familiar at all with the roads in my city and this little device has already helped me SO much. It's extremely easy to use. It's got a few options for adding destinations - you can either put in the address (even takes partials), or you can search through different categories allowing it to pinpoint the closest in the region and how far away from you they are. The navigation system itself can be set to 2D or 3D. Both are pretty much the same, but the 3D takes a bit of time to get used to. When in downtown areas, some buildings even appear as 3D structures! Disadvantages: Reliance on poor Magellan Maps, no third party support

It's unique file structure means that only Magellan's own poor quality maps can be used to upload tracks, routes and waypoints. Talking about file structure, apart it's inability to utilise any third party software aside, this I think is one of the eXplorists good points. And whilst the PDA is of inferior quality the Sat Nav element of the Mitac is most definitely not. If any of the readers of this review have ever had to sync an external GPS receiver to a PDA then they will appreciate what an excellent feature this is. I used to have a Toshiba PDA and separate GPS receiver. A quick visit to Navman's website soon remedied this problem. I simply followed the easy instructions to update my Navman ST software to the 2005 version. Disadvantages: monochrome screen; little room for expansion; cant plan routes via postcodes or addresses

...of GPS take on the treasure hunt you'll be pleased to hear that the explorist 210 comes with software that allows you to download geocache points of interest from the internet, upload them to the handheld unit and get hunting. apart from this, there are few extra features. although the explorist 210 is a relatively low cost GPS system at around £150, its also relatively limited in terms of application, unless you need to pin point your location in the middle of a hike....
