"There's only two reasons....
Review of Jane Goldman Investigates by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Jane was sceptical but open minded, aspects were looked in from all angles, interesting subjects covered
Disadvantages: Squashing a months learning into 1 hour is impossible, ghosts programme was a bit wishy-washy and not as scientific as it could have been, does Jane really need to wear high-heeled shoes ALL the time??

....... why I'd watch this programme" Jane Goldman Investigates was a new series on Living TV which started just a few months back. It was aired from 10pm-11pm on Tuesday evenings, straight after Living TVs' (now) cult TV programme, Most Haunted. Most Haunted rakes in thousands of viewers each week so to bagsie a slot straight after the show, any programme about the paranormal was bound to be a success. Jane Goldman Investigates (hereby referred to as JGI to avoid RSI!) was, not surprisingly, presented by Jane Goldman. Who's she? I hear you ask. Well she is actually Jonathan Ross' better half. Jane is also the author of two best-selling, non-fiction books with accompanies the X-Files series. Each week, Jane learnt a different "psychic" skill from a leading expert in the field of the paranormal. She had 1 month in which to learn... Read review

Excellent for Romance Writers
Review of writerspace.com by poet831

Advantages: Seems to be an excellent site for those who are into writing romantic or erotic fiction. Some things of interest to writers in general - workshops, draws for author prizes, etc.
Disadvantages: None

...Well, this is a site that takes a lot of time - and waylays you on your journey! For instance, they have various links to prize drawings on authors pages, and you find yourself just having to mosey on over to enter those! You might win a signed copy, or even an advance copy, of their finest creations. Or gift tokens ... audio books even. There are chat rooms (I specifically found ParaNormal and Romance, while I was surfing through) and FREE workshops, plus a free newsletter that you can sign up to that has all the schedules of what's up and coming. And they have author events online, too, so's you can chat with some of those who have made a living from their writing. There does seem to be a preponderance of emphasis on the romantic from what I saw - Silhouette Intimate Moments authors, Romance chat, Paranormal Romance, Erotic... Read review

Lovely Atmosphere
Review of Borders (Shop) by gailmill

Advantages: Wonderful selection, gorgeous background music, very calming atmosphere
Disadvantages: none

...My local Borders is the store in Leeds and what a wonderful experience it is every time you go in there to shop or to browse! Apart from the thousands and thousands of fantastic titles on a ground and basement level you can listen to the most sublime traditional folk music while you are browsing. There is a seating area in the besement where book readings are held and the store is light bright and airy even in the lower floor. The last time I went in I spent over an hour in the store. Once you get looking at the fabulous selection of books you just get engrossed. The sections I tend to look at the most; natural health, home style, ufos/paranormal have *the* biggest selection of books on these topics in all the Leeds bookshops. Definitely one one those must visit stores when you are in towm... Read review

Things that go bump in the night
Review of Most Haunted by stephen_logan

Advantages: Guarenteed stupidity and yarn spinning
Disadvantages: The events sadly lack the excitement of the buildup

...of a history book, you can never be quite sure. But one thing that you can say for sure, when Derek is about, you can always expect drama, seen or unseen, television magic. It is hard to do justice to something that for many is as alien a concept as a Michael Barrymore comeback special, but mere words cannot do justice to the show. Over the years we have seen spoons levitate, phantom noises and seen Yvette cry herself silly more times than I’d dare count. We have seen live weekend specials, which appear to go far beyond any necessary boundaries, with full 3 hour broadcasts over any number of days. But yet my thirst is unquenched, I am an addict attempting to let go of my drug of choice Most Haunted. Maybe it isn’t all that bad maybe all that I see is real and that in fact Most Haunted is the greatest televisual breakthrough since it... Read review

Look At The Size of That Whammer!
Review of Hellboy DVD by LostWitness

Advantages: Nasty Nazi Assassins, Funny Fish Men and Kitty Wittens
Disadvantages: Wasted opportunities, dodgy special effects

...It is drawing close to the end of World War Two. In his growing desperation to win the conflict, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi allies have turned their attention to the dark forces of the paranormal. Enlisting the aid of the apparently immortal monk, Rasputin, Hitler’s men have set up a secret operation on a remote Scottish island to summon forth evil powers that will aid them in their quest to rule the world. Their plans, however, are not as covert as they believe and a secret task force of American soldiers, aided by a paranormal advisor, has tracked them down. The operation is foiled at the last minute; Rasputin and Hitler’s chief assassin, Karl Kroenen appear to perish and a portal to hell is closed before any demons can be released. But something – or someone – has made it through the portal. A strange red... Read review

Mama Mia, A Haunted Home!
Review of Haunted Homes: Trues Stories of Paranormal Investigations - Mia Dolan by JeffFromPoole

Advantages: Interesting look into a TV series
Disadvantages: You might want to sleep with the light on

...Review of Haunted Homes- True Stories of Paranormal Investigations I bought this book from a bargain book shop, having seen the television series and also having a bit of a fascination for such things I decided to treat myself. The first thing you realise is that Mia Dolan, billed as Britain's most famous psychic, is a normal, down to earth person who eats, sleeps and goes to the toilet, just like the rest of us. There are no airs and graces about her, the day to day details of her life, such as what she had for dinner are mentioned along with the fascinating reports of hauntings and how she dealt with them. She isn't a great literary writer, but you can clearly hear here own voice coming through as she writes exactly as she speaks. There is an introduction in which Mia (and I now feel that I can call her that) describes how... Read review

1408
Review of 1408 (Director's Cut) by Indie_Star

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...Horror movies are usually the same, you go into the theater, munch on popcorn, and get a little scared. Nothing special. 1408, based on a book by Stephen King, and directed by Mikael Håfström, completely shatters this stereotype. A wild experience of a movie with more twists than a roller coaster. Even the toughest person will leave the cinema a little shaken. The movie opens with Mike Enslin (John Cusak), going to an apparently haunted Hotel and setting up for the night. Enslin is an author and paranormal investigator, who hit the fame with his Top 10 Haunted Hotels book. He has never had a genuine paranormal experience, until he receives a post-card purchased from a hotel in New York City, The Dolphin Hotel. The post-card simply says "Don't enter 1408" and naturally, Enslin's interest is piqued. The manager at "The Dolphin", Gerald... Read review
