Magical

Advantages: Some fun stories
Disadvantages: I'd read most of them in other collections

...I've long been a fan of Neil Gaiman, as he is one of those writers who can mix the fantastical with the real and make it feel somehow natural. His writing has a kind of credibility that means when Neil Gaiman tells you something unbelievable, you start keeping half an eye out for it, just in case. I've read most of Gaiman's novels and short story collections, but had never dipped into the writing he aims at a slightly younger audience. Given that his writing often makes me feel like a child again, I wasn't anticipating any major difference in his writing for the different audience, particularly in a collection of short stories. That is exactly what I got, as "M is for Magic" is a collection of stories specially selected for the audience, but not written specifically for the audience. Twin Peaks

Advantages: The most original, mind-blowing TV series of all time
Disadvantages: None

...director David Lynch himself. Yet another facet of this magical series that makes it so different is the soundtrack, which is one of the best ever written, especially the beautiful title theme itself, and a number of songs by Julee Cruise, the best of which is probbly "The Nightingale". This songs is played during an especially outstanding scene in one of the episodes, which serves to make both the scene and the song unforgettable. You may well find Twin Peaks difficult to get hold of. I have the first seven episodes on DVD, whih came out a few years back- as yet I have not seen the remaining episodes come out on DVD, but I'm constantly on the lookout for them. They are available on VHS, although when I say available, I mean you will probably have to tour round many dusty second-hand video stores to find them all. All in all, Twin Peaks...

...If Ring magazine is the world champion of boxing magazine it's big European rival is British based Boxing News that is now celebrating it's 100th year in production. It's currently a weekly magazine (though it's a registered paper) priced at £2.80 and released on a Friday ever week. Although the history of how it's become what it is, is an interesting story that saw one of my personal hero's Harry Mullan become it's editor for quite some time before his very untimely death, this review will stick to what the magazine currently is. Advantages: BItstream Record, Easy to use, moves TV schedules around, easy to fit bigger HDD

...The Pace Twin was the first PVR on the UK market without a subscription. Reviewed with October 2004 software. It is a Freeview digital terrestrial box with two tuners and a 20GB hard disk. You can watch TV as normal with it, you can also record TV or Freeview radio, you can watch another channel while recording, or a previous recording, or even the recording you are currently recording. Due to this you can watch a commercial TV programme while it is recording and catch up by skipping the adverts. Or you can wact a whole evenings programmes on a half hour delay. There is a live TV pause which is great for watching BBCi (701 or 702) programmes - disabling the MHEG layer and the press red. The box is very well featured, and has plenty of connections. It supports digital text - it is not quite as fast as the Pace DTVA but...

A magic box of tricks

...Brought this set top box for my daughter's bedroom, thought it may stop her from hogging the remote control down stairs, it has worked to a certain degree, thank god or Argos. Before buying one of these, check your postcode area for reception, most places have a small card available, with telephone number, website info etc: this is very important, as you may find if you don't live in the correct reception area, your paying out for nothing. Setting the system up is quite easy, but make sure your reading the correct part for the initial set up and read through thoroughly or you'll lose yourself amidst jargon. Once all the connections are made and your up and running, automatic tuning is done through the remote control, this can be done manually but I don't see the point, as the installation starts, everything becomes self explanatory...

My twins story

....In 1995 I lost a baby girl called Lauren she was still born which was a terrible time for me and think about her every day, but in the year 2000 I found out I was pregnant again, in the very early days of pregnancy I was very sick unlike my other pregnancies both of which where girls so I thought maybe I was having a boy. I remember one day myself and my ex-husband as he is now were out shopping and we saw a dad pushing his twins round the shop, I turned to my husband jokingly and said " wouldn't it be funny if it were twins" famous last words. I did actually go and see my doctor because there wasn't a day go by that I didn't feel sick, his reply was well maybe you are having twins as it is more common to have sickness with multiple births, I just shrugged it off and just put it down to plain old morning sickness. Magical Dragons!

...Dragon Magic is a cute tale that transports children to a magical world of castles and dragons. It tells the story of a small girl called Jess and her blacksmith father, Big John, who rely on their dragon's breath to soften the iron that they use to make things. Problems start when Big John is making a new gate for the king but Huff, their dragon, has run out of puff. Soon some dragon eggs are found and before long a new baby called Puff hatches. She soon becomes part of the family and sets to work helping to make the gate. However, the king is worried that the gate won't be finished and he has spied strangers heading towards the city. It is a race against time especially when Puff shows signs of becoming ill. What else could possibly go wrong? My daughter really enjoyed this story and kept getting excited about what would happen next...

...No visit to Barcelona is complete without a visit to the fabulous spectacle which is the Magic Fountain. I had first seen the Magic Fountain on TV back in 1992 when Barcelona hosted the Olympics. It is situated not far from the outdoor Olympic Pool and stadium. I can remember being quite impressed by the fountain and thinking it would be nice to actually visit and watch the show. Sixteen years on my wish came true, as myself and my partner were on holiday in Spain and having longed to visit Barcelona, we booked a day trip to the city. We liked it so much we returned again this year. The fountain stands at the foot of the steps leading up to the impressive National Palace, situated high up on Montjuic, and performances take place in the evenings - four times a week in the summer and twice a week in winter.
