...Walls Magnum Temptation Chocolate Ice Cream.....
Now even though I am on a healthy eating regime, it doesn't stop me having a treat now and again. This means that I was tempted into the half price offer I saw recently in Tesco for these Magnum Temptation Chocolate ice Creams.
They were on special at £1.49p for a pack of three ice creams a price that I think is fairly reasonable for Magnums. There was a choice between the Chocolate or Caramel but being a self confessed chocoholic I of course opted for the chocolate version.
The wrapping on these ice creams is fairly special because they come individually house within a cardboard box making them seem very luxurious and expensive. The box is easy to open and makes sure that the ice cream inside is safe and wont get crushed easily.
The ice cream itself seems slightly...
Advantages: Quite Tasty Disadvantages: High In Calories, Full Of E Numbers
...I've just eaten a Magnum Classic Ice Cream and I make no apologies because I really enjoyed it. To be honest with you I don't actually remember buying it, I found it in my freezer whilst looking for some oven chips. Anyway there was no best before date on the packet but I figured it couldn't have been there for too long and if it had, well I'm afraid it's a little bit too late now.
The Packaging
The Magnum Ice Cream that I have just devoured was in the form of a lollipop. I'm not sure if it's sold in any different formats like a large tub but if it is I haven't yet come across it. Anyway the empty wrapper in front of me refers to a 86g ice cream bar.
The wrapper is a shiny, rich, dark brown colour with the word "Magnum" emblazoned across the front of it on a red background. Above this there is a white swirl and beneath this...
Advantages: Creamy, smooth texture. Makes you want more. Disadvantages: Bit too expensive for just 3 ice creams.
...Having eaten one of these delicious and luxurious ice creams today, I can safely say that it is one of the tastiest ice creams around. Walls Magnum Classics are characterised by their connotations of posh grandeur, and this fact I think distinguishes it from any other ice cream brand in the market. However, with the high quality comes the rather high price. At anything between about £1 and £2, they are probably best kept as an occasional luxury rather than a permanent freezer filler.
When I opened up the swirly brown box and pulled out one of the 3 ice creams inside, I opened the gold wrapper encasing the treat (the wrapper is even luxurious). Freezing cold, frozen air was wafting from it, and my mouth broke through this cold air and around the top of the chocolate-coated ice cream. Slowly I pressed my teeth down into the vanilla...
Advantages: Great variety of original tracks Disadvantages: Can't believe they're not more widely known
...I don't think I would ever have discovered Magnum if it hadn't been for my dad. In the family car it is always my dad who takes control of the stereo, which is sometimes a nightmare! A lot of the rock music he listens to is terrible, but every now and then he does come up with a little gem such as this one.
So who are Magnum? Well, they originally formed in Birmingham 1972 but since then have changed band members numerous times. However, by keeping with the same vocalist (Bob Catley) and guitarist/songwriter (Tony Clarkin) they have managed to retain their unique sound. Released in 2007, this album is the most recent of a total of 14 over the years, although they have never had a smash hit, as such, with only two of these ever getting into the top 10 in the UK charts (one reached #5, another got to #9).
As you may have realised, I...
Advantages: Gorgeous nutty choc and caramel Disadvantages: If you eat it like me you get in a right mess!
...I was in Tesco's again checking out the special offers, now I've written about the Malteaser Ice cream bars, I've tried the Twix and the Mars now it's time for something with a little more class.
In the freezer cabinet I spotted these Magnum Caramel & Nuts. They were but one get one free, at £1.99 that was an absolute bargain. The box contains four of these gorgeous little lovelies! The box is blue with magnum written on it, it's written white surrounded by a sort of a caramel colour, it also has a picture of the choc ice type thing, with caramel dripping out and a few nuts scattered around. It also has the Walls heart signature on it.
I opened the box and pulled one of the bars out, opened the shiny blue wrapper and began to eat, now I love chocolate with nuts in so I bite all that off before anything - BIG MISTAKE! I ignored...
Advantages: Luxurious ice cream chocolates, three flavours, delicious Disadvantages: Expensive for what they are, usual allergy warnings
...Replete with food, after a wonderful meal while staying at a relative's house, we were sitting back sipping coffee when I had my first glimpse of Magnum Moments. I was offered a bright red box, which at first glance seemed to be a box of chocolates, but which was cold to the touch.
'Like mini choc-ices', I was told. My stomach assured me I had eaten enough already. My taste-buds, however, suggested that I could manage just one small mini choc-ice, particularly when I spotted that one of the flavours was hazelnut. It wasn't difficult to allow my taste-buds to win that argument, and I had no regrets!
* About the manufacturer *
Magnum apparently makes the best-selling ice cream in Europe, despite having been launched there as recently as 1989. Its initial target was the adult market, as distinct from most ice-cream companies...
Advantages: Creamy, crunchy, sumptuous and soft. Disadvantages: Cold creamy inside forces you to eat chocolate first, leaving the cream to pour down your hand.
...Many peoples dilemma when choosing this product is the price. With prices usually ranging around £2 for three ice creams, this is pricey whatever the budget. Now firstly, anything with the word classic in it immediately doubles in price. But the Magnum not only has it written on its packaging, its etched into every element of the ingenious ice-cream's make-up.
From its churned centre of cool cream to its brittle yet brilliant chocolate shell, that not only arouses your attention with its smooth scent of chocolate but allures you, with its brown chocolate body to just scythe through it to reveal the joys it hides inside.
However, although the taste is moreish and the price makes you want to savour each bite, another thing stops you gorging it whole is the contrast in temperatures between exterior and interior. Although this may...

The magnum is the creamiest dairy vanilla ice cream, dipped into magnum chocolate, with quite a thick coating of chocolate,
The smooth vanilla ice cream has brown tiny dots and that is the chocolate to give it that extra chocolaty taste.
You can buy it from around £1.00 - £1.10 as a single ice cream.
You can also buy theses as a pack of three from a corner...
Advantages: Very, very nice Disadvantages: you'll want another...
...The other night, I was nipping out to Tescos for some odds and ends. Before I left, I asked my boyfriend if he needed anything while I was there. He asked me to get him a Magnum ? not just your Classic or White Magnum, but the Yoghurt Fresh one. Well I practically had the contents of Tescos freezer out, hunting for this Ice Cream, and they had every other flavour apart from this one. I was mad, I then checked the two petrol stations on the way down the road, before nipping into Safeway where I finally managed to get a box of three. I don?t like the Classic Magnum at all, finding it too sickly for me, but my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try the Yoghurt Fresh ? Ice cream with yogurt and raspberry sauce coated in milk chocolate.
The Packaging
My magnum came in a box of three. The box is pink and white...
Advantages: Well researched, full of references by King himself. Disadvantages: A little academic in style. Character section a bit sketchy.
..."The Dark Tower" Series is one that creates such a reaction amongst Stephen King fans. It would appear that there is a definite split amongst his "constant readers" into those who love it and think it is his best work, and those that think it is King at his most pretentious and self-absorbed. There are few that fall into the middle ground. . Naturally I fall into the former category!
This reference book is published with the full co-operation of Stephen King and with glowing praise from the author and co-writer of "Black House" Peter Straub which for me can only be a good thing. If King feels strongly enough about this book to endorse it then it must be good. After all King himself calls "The Dark Tower" series his "Magnum Opus" so his confidence in the authors ability to delve into his works must be high.
Aptly, "The Road...
