The best mid-range hotel on Mahe

Advantages: great beachside location, good facilites, dive centre, full of character
Disadvantages: impolite reception staff, quite expensive (but everything is in Seychelles)

...I used to stay at this hotel every weekend when I worked in Seychelles in the early half of 2005. It is one of the best mid-ranged priced resorts on Mahe, with plenty of facilities, good restaurants and lots of character. The rooms are clean and comfortable, most with a bath and hot water (which you don't always find in Seychelles), and all with a balcony or outdoor seating area. The view can vary from the hotel courtyard and pool, to the beach or the car park (noisy, especially if you are on ground level). There is no television in the rooms. The Coral Strand is situated right on the beach in Beau Vallon and definitely has the best location of the big hotels, as there are several restaurants (the best of which is the Boathouse for Seychellois cuisine), a few shops and an internet cafe within walking distance. Underwater Paradise - Mahe

Advantages: crystal waters, high abundance and diversity of fish, whale sharks are regular visitors
Disadvantages: lots of damaged coral

...For most visitors to Seychelles, Mahe is just the location of the international airport, where they change planes to head straight to the more popular and tourist savvy Praslin or one of the outer islands. It may be the largest and most populated island, but Mahe has a lot going for it, with a strong Kreol culture, beautiful mountains and beaches and some excellent dive sites. I worked there for three months as a scientific diver, and I found the range and diversity of dive sites very impressive. Honeymoon - Banyan Tree, Seychelles

Advantages: Pure luxury
Disadvantages: None that we found

...My wife and I spent the second week of our honeymoon at the Banyan Tree on Mahe Island in the Seychelles. It was the most perfect week of our lives and for our honeymoon we could not have imagined anything so perfect. This resort is on a secluded end of the island however the coastline there is a little rough at times. Anyway, with infinity pools in each room, and a massive infinity pool in the communal area of the hotel, there is no need to swin in the sea. When arriving at the resort, a prisitine white house greets and, standing infront is placed a huge Banyan Tree which is light up at night. Review of Banyan Tree, Mahe Island

Mine is Singing LOUD !!!!!

Advantages: Value for MOney !!!
Disadvantages: No Colour Choice

...I bought this phone in Jan 07 and have no complaints whatsoever from this product. The best part about the phone is that it has a lovely sound. The sound quality is not just good but its outstanding in the money you pay for it. The other features like 2 MegaPixel Camera , Bluetooth and other features mahe it more value for money. The Screen is small and thus if you are fond of surfing net of cellphone then you won't feel good. This is a disadvantage. The memory is huge and is expandable to 2GB . The Battery backup is great. I don't charge it for a week and i manage to talk to everyone i want to. I would say its a real value for money and you would love its sound !!! It comes only in one colour, i.e. Titanium Gold and you have no other options. I would suggest to buy it if you need phone ...a camera...a walkman...

Honeymoon heaven

Advantages: Romantic, beautiful and unbusy

...If you're looking for a great honeymoon destination - I couldn't recommend the Seychelles more. The best islands are pobably La Digue, Praslin and (if you can afford it) Fregate. Mahe - where the international airport is - is OK. The interior jungles are interesting and Anse Intendance on the south is a great beach (watch out for waves). Praslin is smaller and very pretty - the Vallee de Mai is stunning. La Digue is a good size and nice to cycle round with great rock formations on the southern beaches. Fregate is the ultimate in Robinson Crusoe luxury - only 16 rooms and incredible service and surroundings. The only downside is it's a bit pricey to get there but it's far more interesting than the Maldives and less over-developed than Mauritius. We loved it....

...really nice pictures! The Post Office: The POST Office you say? Well yes, Port-Louis? central post office is a must-see for everyone. Port-Louis was actually built under the supervision of Mahé de Labourdonnais when the French colonized the island, and they used the city as their main capital, too. Therefore, most of the buildings and a couple of the roads still bear the historical architecture of French workers. The Central Post office is found inside one of these historical buildings. Any avid architect will be more than happy to feast his or her eyes on this magnificent stone building. In fact, believe it or not, the Port Louis post office has become a major spot in the city. You can always see tourists posing in front of the buildings for snaps! In addition, the post office also offers very cheap, very rapid internet service...

...Just a word of warning that I am biased about this country because I originate from there. However, there is no doubt that it really is the most gorgeous place to visit. I'm really only able to talk about the main island, Mahe, because that’s the only island I've been to. Mahe is the only Seychelles island with an airport but there are many boat rides available to get to the others such as Praslin and La Digue. The main town on Mahe is called Victoria. There are a variety of shops there including a supermarket, craft shops and food places. All the utility headquarters are here including embassies. Victoria is really the only place in Mahe to buy stuff as the local shops are like your everyday newsagents. A slice of true paradise

Advantages: weather, scenery, relaxing pace

...I visited the Seychelles with my family a couple of years ago. It is the closest I have ever come to my idea of 'real paradise' and I recommend it to anyone that wants to experience gorgeous beaches, turcquiose water and breathtaking scenery. Being a teenager in Seychelles has its disadvantages. There is little to no nightlife and activities on the islands are minimal. We stayed on the largest island, Mahe, and activity was generally confined to sightseeing, sunbathing and swimming. This is, of course, the best way to spend a holiday, but it can get tedious after a couple of weeks. We booked a tour around the whole island with a private driver and it was fascinating.
