Status: New - Why did Maidstone die, and how did Dartford suffer the same fate? Who was at fault and who and what efforts were made to save the club, even at the eleventh hour? Mike George, although only a supporter of the team in the later days, soon became an avid fan of the Stones. After experience in the commercial offices of two football clubs, he actively became involved in his local team, Maidstone United, with his work in the club shop and also his production of two fanzines. After an outline history of the club (since its formation in 1891), Mike relates the euphoria of those last few years (in words and pictures), which finally culminated in despair. The facts are clearly given in an attempt to put the record straight regarding the final demise of this once much respected amateur club, and latterly a professional member of the Football League... Golden Days indeed.

A more desperate attempt still is to be found at the end of this review, in the form...
Advantages: Location, quality of staff Disadvantages: Not close to town centre
...Reasons for choosing this hotel:
We've stayed here before and the position is good for us when visiting friends and family, being just off the M20 Motorway at Junction 7, approximately 4 miles from Maidstone town centre.
I could have used a cheaper hotel (there is an Innkeepers Lodge and a few Premier Travel Inns locally) but as a member of the Hilton loyalty scheme which allows you to...
