*** The Ace Malaga Palace? ***

Advantages: Location, comfort & views.
Disadvantages: Businesslike and few English speaking staff.

...We were outside work in the car park, three of us enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and Angry Man kicking the wall and smoking a cigarette. "Malaga" he said authoritatively "is a dump." This was a view I was to hear echoed from the minute I booked the flight to Malaga and decided to stop overnight before we travelled further into Spain, right up to getting the train from Malaga Airport. Even as a kindly English lady helped us work the ticket machine, our decision was under question. I am pleased to report that Malaga is not that bad. In fact (and I'm not saying this to be contrary) - I like it! This was helped in part by our rather well located hotel. The train journey in from the Airport twists through slum like flats, but somehow, these look better than the approach to Paddington in the rain and the 2 euro journey was the start...

Review of AC Malaga Palacio Hotel, Malaga

Malaga - Torremolinos.

Advantages: shopping
Disadvantages: nightlife

...I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience. Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and a lot of steps which could be a problem for a lot of people - there is a lift though. Another good point was the shops, they were open very late and when i was there, there were lots of sales on in good shops, Malaga has good shops like zara. A bad point in my opinion was the entertainment, we went at peak season and there wasnt a lot to do, and not much going on for families. The eating...

Malaga, nice but they still kill bulls...

Advantages: Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral.
Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, has Bull Ring.

...I've not even been back a week, but feels like months ago that I went to Malaga. Back in the cold and gloom! I have never been to Spain before, and the decission was partly due to availability. I was waiting on the return of my Passport from Passport House, and so no holiday could be booked until then. I booked online at about midnight on 11/01/03, and we flew out at 6.25am on 12/01/03. So no time to buy phrase book, or learn any lingo! This was our downfall. If I advise anything, it's take a phrase book. On our return a friend kindly told me that you will deffinately have more fun out there if you can speak some Spanish. (Thanks, that's real helpful now!) Once out there, we could not find any Phrase Books, and did not even find a Guide Book in English until our third day! I felt held back by this, and would deffinately want...

Beautiful Malaga

Advantages: Fantastic weather, lovely views, Amazing holiday
Disadvantages: Dirty, alot of constuction work

...I go to Malaga about 2 times a year as my partners father lives over there. This is the first and only place that i have been abroad so my review is only based on this country as i have not been to any others apart from england of corse!!! The weather is amazing but obiviously it depends where you are as my partners parents live up a mountain!! so it mostly really hot but it can also be cloudy!! I haven't been out there yet when it hasn't been cloudy. But the weather is completly different to England its not humid or hard to breath!! Its just fantastic warm weather!! If you haven't been abroad before the experience is amazing, the veiws are unbeleivable mountains everywhere! clear blue seas and its just amazing how they build villages just about anywhere!!! It really is something you have to see for yourself its hard to...

El Corte Ingles Store Restaurant, Malaga

Advantages: Very convenient when shopping
Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.

...was just too delicious. I wouldn't have gone there if we hadn't been on a shopping trip, but I would definitely go back to any Corte Ingles restaurant for the same reason, convenience, even though it was competitively priced (Much cheaper than England of course) However Malaga has a surfeit of good eating places and I would definitely not go there specifically to eat at night with so many more attractive venues available and all at very fair prices. The Spanish demand a high standard for their food and you get it here. This certainly is way above what you would get in any British supermarket "caff" and a welcome and relaxing break from shopping, even if you are in El Corte Ingles. By the way most shops in Spain have their sales in January and February and what you can save here would more than pay for your meal. Also...

Review of Restaurante El Corte Inglés, Malaga

Torrox park, Costa del sol, Malaga

Advantages: quiet, pretty lanscapes, value for money, nice friendly people, relaxing, good amount of sunshine all year
Disadvantages: not a destination for everyone, need to know a little of the lingo, not very well developed area yet!

...The first visit to this area was last september 2003. Both my husband and myself fell in love with the area. Although it is not a holiday for everyone. It will be a up and coming area of malaga in the future. We bought a 2 bed apartment in april 2004 on the urbanization torrox park for 117,000 euro as we were impressed by the area and the quality of the building work that was being undertaken on the site. The site itself has a main pizza eating place which is great value for money and the t-bone steak is a must for meat eaters. There are several small shops which sell everything from food to beach wear. On the site is also a camping area for tents, caravans, and log cabins. This has excellent facilities which include a clubhouse serving food and drinks, Internet connection, sky tv, pool table and they also serve sunday lunch...

I';ve been to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen - this doesn't compare

Advantages: Beautiful settings
Disadvantages: A lame tired old theme park!!

... TIVOLI WORLD BENALMADENA We visited Tivoli World on the Costa del Sol when we were staying at Benalmadena Costa, close to Malaga. Tivoli World is in the Arroyo de la Miel isr egion of Benalmadena halfway between Pueblo Benalmadena in the mountains and Benalmadena Costa on the coast. As well as a theme park Tivolii World holds a market ( which they call a Bric-a-Brac Garden Market) from 11am to 1pm each Sunday and cthis osts 1 euro for each adult to get in. Basically this is a Spanish car boot sale !! The gardens themselves are very pretty with fountains and birds. The Spanish claim that there are over 30 rides and attractions - I don't personally think they are very good at maths!!! They also claim that it is 'Similar to Disney' again their observation skills seem a little lapse...

Review of Tivoli World, Malaga

Airport Oasis

Advantages: Proximity to Airport, Great Golf Course
Disadvantages: May need an interim food offering between the informal cafe and the more formal restaurant

...The Parador de Malaga Golf Hotel is part of a large Spanish chain, consisting of predominantly four and five star hotels across both Mainland Spain and some of its islands. I chose this hotel primarily for its location to Malaga Airport, and I don't think there could be a better situated hotel, as it is a mere 3 km and less than ten minutes in a car to the terminal at Malaga itself. It is also only a relatively short distance to the city of Malaga itself; and the trip should be no more than ?15 one way. Making a Reservation -------------------------- It is possible to make a reservation from the website http://www.paradores-spain.com/spain/pmagolf.html although the facility is rather limited and is generally restricted to the prices advertised on the site, which may not always be the best rates available (depending on how...

Diamond review  Holiday Airport - but no horror story

Advantages: Childrens play areas, aircon, lots of seating
Disadvantages: Getting hold of a trolley

...We've all seen the programmes - frustrated passengers, delays galore, no facilities, sweaty overcrowded terminals. The joys of heading for a typical tourist hotspot. Well, it seems it is possible for an airport to actually add to the holiday experience rather than ruin it. Wanna know more....read on.... Until a few weeks ago, my most recent visit to the Costa del Sol was in 1987, so it was memories of a terrible Malaga Airport that were fixed in my mind as we set off from Gatwick. However, the Malaga Airport of 2003 is vastly improved and no longer the nightmare beginning and end to an otherwise pleasurable vacation. In fact, I was so impressed, that I immediately looked for others reviews on Ciao only to find that one of the most popular airports for British holidaymakers did not even have a Ciao listing. Now it does..... Unlike...

Legend under rain

Advantages: landscapes
Disadvantages: -

...Valleys that seem postal alpine, broken throats and like forests, rumorosos mountain rivers, abundant rains, shady forests of firs, flocks of eagles... all adorned it with the whitest pueblecitos of Andalusia. To whatever a landscape with the previous paragraph was described to him, hardly it would imagine that it referred to a the south of Spain, but is certain, it is the Mountainous area of Round, formed by gigantic bulks with names like Mountain range of Snows or the incredible natural wonder of the Park of Grazalema, in the province of Malaga, where it is lived here with another class of clock, according to the growth of the pinsapos. The natural Park of Grazalema includes more than 51,000 hectares by itself, having a pluviométrico registry of the annual average of about 2000 Ls. Before and mainly from the English invasion...
