*** The Ace Malaga Palace? ***
Advantages: Location, comfort & views.
Disadvantages: Businesslike and few English speaking staff.
...We were outside work in the car park, three of us enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and Angry Man kicking the wall and smoking a cigarette. "Malaga" he said authoritatively "is a dump." This was a view I was to hear echoed from the minute I booked the flight to Malaga and decided to stop overnight before we travelled further into Spain, right up to getting the train from Malaga Airport. Even as a kindly English lady helped us work the ticket machine, our decision was under question.
I am pleased to report that Malaga is not that bad. In fact (and I'm not saying this to be contrary) - I like it! This was helped in part by our rather well located hotel. The train journey in from the Airport twists through slum like flats, but somehow, these look better than the approach to Paddington in the rain and the 2 euro journey was the start...

Winter Sun
Advantages: Clean room
Disadvantages: Dining Room
...When we decided on a winter break we choice the Hotel Siroco in Benalmadena as we always wanted to visit Gibraltar and this Costa was nearest. We arrived at the hotel about 6pm and checked in, the process was very slow as only one person was on duty and it is an extremely busy hotel. We paid 19 euros for a safety deposit box for one week 2 euros a day plus a deposit of 5 euros. Then with key card in hand we headed for room 408.
The Room
The room had two single beds pushed together to look like a large double situated between a large headboard with had bedside tables on it. A light was situated over the bed and a picture was above the bed. The room had laminate flooring in dark wood to match the doors. The wardrobe were hidden behind to two large sliding mirrors and the rail was so high I was unable to reach it myself. There was...

Malaga - Torremolinos.
Advantages: shopping
Disadvantages: nightlife
...I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience.
Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and a lot of steps which could be a problem for a lot of people - there is a lift though.
Another good point was the shops, they were open very late and when i was there, there were lots of sales on in good shops, Malaga has good shops like zara.
A bad point in my opinion was the entertainment, we went at peak season and there wasnt a lot to do, and not much going on for families.
The eating...

Malaga, nice but they still kill bulls...
Advantages: Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral.
Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, has Bull Ring.
...Malaga centre we sat and had a coffee in the Bus depo cafe, and looked over a list of Hotels and map the lady from the Information Desk at the Bus station had given us.(Much more helpful than the airport!) We quickly chose one within our budget, walked literally around the corner from where we were, and checked in. The good thing about going this time of year, is that even if you don't have accomadation booked, you will deffinately be able to get what you want once there.
Our Hotel was only supposed to be 1 Star, but we thought it was great! Not the Grande Vere or anything, but nice and clean with friendly staff.(None of which spoke English though) It also had a En suite with shower and bum-wash etc.
Bags dumped, we were ready to explore. We were in the New part of Malaga, which had the Bus station, an Underground station, Cinema...

Beautiful Malaga
Advantages: Fantastic weather, lovely views, Amazing holiday
Disadvantages: Dirty, alot of constuction work
...I go to Malaga about 2 times a year as my partners father lives over there. This is the first and only place that i have been abroad so my review is only based on this country as i have not been to any others apart from england of corse!!!
The weather is amazing but obiviously it depends where you are as my partners parents live up a mountain!! so it mostly really hot but it can also be cloudy!! I haven't been out there yet when it hasn't been cloudy. But the weather is completly different to England its not humid or hard to breath!! Its just fantastic warm weather!! If you haven't been abroad before the experience is amazing, the veiws are unbeleivable mountains everywhere! clear blue seas and its just amazing how they build villages just about anywhere!!! It really is something you have to see for yourself its hard to...

Hotel International
Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms
...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Norbreck Castle Hotel
Advantages: Out of the town
Disadvantages: Too many people!
...I'm glad that I did not get to read any of the reviews before I went to this hotel, or see the Holidays from Hell programme the night before!
The hotel can be found along the seafront, about three miles from the main centre of Blackpool, heading out towards Fleetwood. It is now under the Britannia hotels group and it is easily accessible by tram and bus. We used the trams the whole time instead of me driving all the time.
My husband, my two youngest children and myself went last week for a couple of nights, after finding an advert which gave a special price of £35 per person dinner bed and breakfast per night. The two children were included free of charge, including their meals. The advert did state that the hotel was ungoing a £7million pound upgrade, and that some services may not be available. This did not deter us as we...

hotel olsanka
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not so easy to access the town centre of prague.
...hotel olsanka prague
Having been to prague recently and having stayed at this particular accomodation a few years ago, I was keen to give this place one final chance as I had had a really rubbish stay at this place. Similarly to my previous stay, I had notice that the Hotel seems to be advertised much cheaper on accomodation websites compared to near enough all other places to stay in prague.
getting to the accomodation
The details of getting to prague town centre are covered in my previous prague accomodation review, and whilst this accomodation is not as easy to get to location wise, a tram journey needed to get the accomodation from one of the central location's of prague town centre.
booking process
I booked this accomodation using a third party reservation booking website and paid around seventy euros...

El Corte Ingles Store Restaurant, Malaga
Advantages: Very convenient when shopping
Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.
...was just too delicious. I wouldn't have gone there if we hadn't been on a shopping trip, but I would definitely go back to any Corte Ingles restaurant for the same reason, convenience, even though it was competitively priced (Much cheaper than England of course)
However Malaga has a surfeit of good eating places and I would definitely not go there specifically to eat at night with so many more attractive venues available and all at very fair prices.
The Spanish demand a high standard for their food and you get it here. This certainly is way above what you would get in any British supermarket "caff" and a welcome and relaxing break from shopping, even if you are in El Corte Ingles.
By the way most shops in Spain have their sales in January and February and what you can save here would more than pay for your meal.

Torrox park, Costa del sol, Malaga
Advantages: quiet, pretty lanscapes, value for money, nice friendly people, relaxing, good amount of sunshine all year
Disadvantages: not a destination for everyone, need to know a little of the lingo, not very well developed area yet!
...The first visit to this area was last september 2003. Both my husband and myself fell in love with the area. Although it is not a holiday for everyone. It will be a up and coming area of malaga in the future.
We bought a 2 bed apartment in april 2004 on the urbanization torrox park for 117,000 euro as we were impressed by the area and the quality of the building work that was being undertaken on the site.
The site itself has a main pizza eating place which is great value for money and the t-bone steak is a must for meat eaters. There are several small shops which sell everything from food to beach wear.
On the site is also a camping area for tents, caravans, and log cabins. This has excellent facilities which include a clubhouse serving food and drinks, Internet connection, sky tv, pool table and they also serve sunday lunch...
