...warm Spanish evening for a while, we changed and headed out for some more. The hotel is right next to shopping streets and popular restaurants, but still quiet in the evening. After a gorgeous (black pig for The Boyfriend and vegetable Ratatouille for me) and very reasonably priced dinner, we wandered around. The advantage of Malaga is that it's not touristy enough to serve egg and chips and charge the earth. It's a functional city, with building work going on and people going about their uncontrived daily business. Back at the hotel, we checked out the rooftop pool. Smaller than expected, the pool is probably more of a venue for the business people to mingle around than somewhere to swim. Malaga - Torremolinos.

Advantages: shopping
Disadvantages: nightlife

...I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience. Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and a lot of steps which could be a problem for a lot of people - there is a lift though. Another good point was the shops, they were open very late and when i was there, there were lots of sales on in good shops, Malaga has good shops like zara. A bad point in my opinion was the entertainment, we went at peak season and there wasnt a lot to do, and not much going on for families. The eating...

Poole in all its Glory

Advantages: Lovely area plenty to see

Malaga, nice but they still kill bulls...

Advantages: Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral.

...I've not even been back a week, but feels like months ago that I went to Malaga. Back in the cold and gloom! I have never been to Spain before, and the decission was partly due to availability. I was waiting on the return of my Passport from Passport House, and so no holiday could be booked until then. I booked online at about midnight on 11/01/03, and we flew out at 6.25am on 12/01/03. So no time to buy phrase book, or learn any lingo! This was our downfall. If I advise anything, it's take a phrase book. On our return a friend kindly told me that you will deffinately have more fun out there if you can speak some Spanish. (Thanks, that's real helpful now!) Once out there, we could not find any Phrase Books, and did not even find a Guide Book in English until our third day! I felt held back by this, and would deffinately want...

...II wouldn't classify myself as a game freak, but I do occasionally like to play online games. One of which is Cool Pool. This game is published by Sierra and can without doubt boast to be the best Pool game. There are many game variations available through the menu system and most are playable online too. Installation is very easy once the file is downloaded ( see later ). On initial boot up this game has a rather catchy tile page. The large and colourful Sierra logo is quickly followed by a little furry dude saying Now this is fun. And indeed it is. ...were very accurate. Our second James Villas holiday was to the delightful villa of La Font, just outside of Pollença in Mallorca. It is a little bit out of the way (around 2 kilometres from the nearest shop and 4 kilometres from the old town), but the secluded location makes for a tranquil and peaceful experience. The property owners, Maria and Antonio, live on the site but in a smaller villa that is more or less hidden from the main villa. They are an amazingly friendly couple and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. They don?t speak a huge amount of English (I am fluent in Spanish) but are among the most friendly people you will ever meet. ...Initially we wanted to book our package via the internet. However the flights on the site were either extremely unsociable hours (departure 5am etc) or you missed both ends because you arrived past midnight and left the villa around 6am the last day. Finally we rung an agent who seemed to have access to many more flights than we did and got a suitable time. Because this was not an internet option we had to go through him. This started our first problem because on the internet the default option includes the welcome package. As we were arriving at midnight with 3 young children this was necessary. A taste of Italy with James Villas

Advantages: wonderful property
Disadvantages: terrifying access road

..., but the rumours are now going round the family that my ability to kill off a good party transcends even death! I can't emphasize enough how lovely the villa was (previous inhabitants notwithstanding). The pool was not too deep so very safe for children, there was a table football game and table tennis in the grounds, well appointed kitchen and comfortable furniture. The information provided in the villa with things to do and nearest supermakets etc was excellent. I would happily travel with James Villas again. Hopefully the next villa will not come with resident ghosts!...
