Advantages: Cheap, good food, better than average legroom.
Disadvantages: Airmiles hard to claim with their partner KLM.

...I travel with my wife to Australia annually, to visit her relatives, and for the past seven years, we have flown with Malaysian. The first two times that I travelled to Oz, we went with Gulf and a combination of BA and Quantas. The reason for a change was that Gulf was cramped and the airport at the refuelling stop-over had very basic amenities. And on both BA and Quantas, the air conditioning broke, leaving the cabin either too hot or too cold (not nice for 12 hours). Malaysian were chosen for the next holiday. The choice was made because of the relatively cheap flight, and that they had an extra 2 inches of leg room compared to most other carriers (both my wife and I are 6 foot +). Malaysian - Courteous and Comfortable

Advantages: Helpful staff, comfortable planes, individual screens and good food.
Disadvantages: None really, but often a bit more expensive than budget flights

...As an Australian living in the UK I have become something of an expert on long-haul flights! As I prefer to spend my money on something a bit more tangible than 24hrs travel, I usually go for the cheapest flight available and put up with the discomfort. In May I was called home unexpectedly and needed to book a flight within the next day or so. The usual cheap deals had all been booked up and Malaysian was the best deal available. This proved to be a silver lining as Malaysian is definitely one of the best airlines I have flown. Check in was quick and all the clerks were polite and friendly (a small thing I know but it certainly gets the flight off on the right footing!) The seats all had personal video screens allowing a choice of film / tv / flight information and computer games. This is a definite plus on long haul both...

USE MALAYSIAN AIR WHEN POSSIBLE

Advantages: Good staff and aircraft
Disadvantages: Food is a bit dodgy for Western taste

...I have used Malaysian Air MAS a number of times to fly out to Asia and back to the UK and also internally throughout the Asia area. What a great service they offer - I used to use BA or Singapore airlines but find MAS better. One advantage is that they are based in the great airport in KL. What a top airport. KL itself is also quire clean and cheap. The staff on MAS are all very helpful. The food can be a bit dodgy but the service is excellent and nothing is too much hassle. Internal flights are also very good on MAS - we paid for a first class internal flight and it only cost £5 more - well worth it so ask when booking....

MAS value for money!

Advantages: legroom space, price, service
Disadvantages: choices of food and beverages offered

...Malaysian Airlines is Malaysia's leading airlines and their well worth of their title. I have been using MAS for long and short distance flight and is well worth the money you spend. Their service is great - remember flying with them to India.... service is very nice, food, might need a bit improvement on the taste and choices on menu. Other than that you get ample leg space compared to other airlines. Once i have travelled on their Business class and it was excellent compared US airways and Jet Airways. Well, advice to passengers who might want to use this airlines: sign up as a MAS offer membership (its free). with this you would be entitled to their offers which are regularly updated on every weekends. MH - Malaysian Hospitality - Why fly with anyone else?????

Advantages: Serves many routes, excellent service and hospitality and beats Singapore hands down!
Disadvantages: Has the monopoly on London-KL direct flights so can be quite pricey for this route alone.

The Capital of the Malaysian Rice Bowl

Advantages: Fantastic food in a pretty little town

Advantages: Well maintained modern fleet and excellent in flight service

An efficent airline

Advantages: Staff, efficent, good entertainment, punctual
Disadvantages: Food is OK

...I have used Malaysian Airlines on quite a few occasions for business & pleasure to Malaysia & also within the country. In all honesty there is very little to criticise them about, they use Jumbo jets for the UK to Malaysia flights & smaller aircraft for the domestic flights. The Jumbos are well equipped with individual screens behind the seats; they offer music, films & games using the wired hand held control you use for operating the system as a games controller. Legroom is standard 'cattle class', no better or worse than most other major airlines. The staff are very polite, helpful & efficient; they help to make the flights enjoyable & are very attentive when you need their service. The meals on board were at best OK, you will never go hungry or thirsty as they are always serving complimentary snacks & drinks & their in flight...
