...Malia I just came back from my weeks holiday in Malia last night so I thought I’d do an opinion before I jet off to Berlin tomorrow afternoon. :0P Malia is an all round party resort that has been compared to Ibiza and Ayia Napa. Not having been to either of these places, I can’t comment on this save for to say that the nightlife certainly was manic. I went for a ‘girly’ holiday with 3 of my best mates to treat ourselves after we finished out A-levels. Manic Malia

Advantages: Hot, Great nightlife, Lots to do.
Disadvantages: Scary Greek men, quite expensive in some places.

...Whether you have noticed or not, I have been away from Ciao for 2 weeks, and I’ve been on holiday. It was a bit of a last minute thing. I’ve just split up with my long term boyfriend and I needed to escape for a while, so we booked a fortnight of fun in the sun in Malia. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it when I went, but I enjoyed it so much! ~*~IN GENERAL~*~ Crete is approximately 100 miles away from the mainland of Greece. Create is about 150 miles across and 50 miles wide, and is the largest Greek island. The Euro is now used in Greece instead of the Drachma, and therefore prices have increased quite dramatically. Quite obviously the main language spoke in Greece, is Greek, although the shopkeepers and suchlike are usually quite good at giving English a go. The land in Crete is pretty mountainous...

I usually like to holiday at a different destination every year as I find it just too exciting packing my bags and imaging what it might actually be like at my chosen destination, rather than the glossy pictures displayed in the brochure. ...Well I finally have enough time to write a review on Malia, a small island in Crete, Greece. ...I recently returned from a week long holiday with a friend, to the resort of Malia. Being an experienced visitor to many of the typical "clubbing/party" resorts, (i.e Faliraki, Playa de las Americas, Ayia Napa etc), I can confirm that Malia offers an incredibly good array of pubs, bars, discos and clubs. The set out of the town enables you to steadily work your way around the bars, drinking cocktails, fish bowls, and shots of tequila and after shock on the way. The variety of restaurants is also good, my personal recommendation being the mexican offering great tasting fajitas and enchilladas! I would steer clear of the several chinese restaurants however, as everybody I know who ate there had the same comment, "very greasy food." My only real disappointment with this resort would be the beach. Its watersports facilities are good...

I cant believe that this many years on the Soula Mari hotel is listed on Ciao.Though i stayed there many years ago and appreciate things may have changed i can still give you a general idea of the hotel and where situated. I remember a 45 minute coach journey from haraklion airport and arriving sometime in the early morning.It was may 25th some 12 years ago.Now i know your going to be thinking,'this place may have been revamped and completely different.Nonetheless,my first impression of that hotel stood out from all the others.Set on the corner of the Malia Beach road and slightly back i remember entering to reception with the tiled floors and typical greek decor.A tiny lizard had situated itself on the wall close to my room,a nice thing to see i thought at the time.The walkthrough to the rooms was arched and open...

Is Malia really the in place

Advantages: Great weather and soon got fit
Disadvantages: No working safe deposit boxes, poor hygiene in the apartments and the area is quite expensive for food, drink and activities

...Malia, stated as being the in place for 2001 is situated on the North East side of the island of Crete. I only choose Greece again due to the great time I had in Kos last year, but as I was going with a group of people, I let them deal with the booking this time round. They went down to the Traveltext place in Nottingham and booked through Summer Sun and were flying with Carrier Air 2000 (non of wich I have ever heard of). Summer Sun were not the best of operators but I shall write another article on that over the comming weeks, but I felt better when I found out who Carrier Air were owned by. They are a subsidary of First Choice Holidays. I went away with three others on the 10th of July for a two week holiday to the Demaglia Studios so I had the hot weather due to being in high season. Malia - Not just for yobs & chavs!

Advantages: Cheap, fairly good location, 2 swimming pools
Disadvantages: Location, rude manageress, expensive breakfast, CHAVS!

...The Trip: I went to Malia in September 2006. I needed a budget holiday for 2 weeks, with sunshine and the beach. Malia gave me just that... so I booked the holiday. It was only when I started looking at reviews AFTER the booking that I began to panic... Malia has a bit of a bad reputation with regards to young English, drinking and clubbing. Arriving into Malia by coach I was still considering making a resort transfer as it didn't look that great. The Hotel Yiannis Mannos, was quite pleasant... quite far away from the main strip where all the bars and clubs were... 2 swimming pools... clean, but very basic rooms... and what appeared to be friendly staff. Just came back from a holiday in Malia Crete, 8 of us guys went for 2 weeks (which is to long btw) and had an awesome time :D If your after ANYTHING from a holiday other than sun, sex and nightlife then simply dont go to Malia lol... thats ALL there is to do there- but like us 8 lads that was all we wanted! The place itself is unusual the town only lives for the night and that doesnt start out there til 12 midnight- during the day you will find yourself at the beach or by the pool and there is simply nothing else to do- we were there for 2weeks and we went water park twice and a Cruise other than that ever day was the same! Food is great out there, hotel food is horrible but if you eat out a meal and a drink is only about 10euros, and at brekie you can get a 2.90euros from almost everywhere! During the day...

MALIA DEDALOS - The best!!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages: Great location, clean, first class staff, friendly
Disadvantages: Absolutely none

...RIght have to totally disagree with the previous review. Apartments excellent, yes basic but very clean we didn't require air conditioning even with the weather being 33 degrees. there are safety deposit boxes available for a small charge. There are lights outside the apartments so you can see where you are going when it's pitch black! The pool is fab, just enough sunbeds and there are lilos etc to use free of charge, there is a pool table also and internet usage. The bar is great and the food brilliant - albeit a tad pricey but the whole of Malia is like that. Staff are so friendly and Marios the barman and George on security will take good care of you. Koula and Charlie also great girls. Me and my friend had such a laugh with them all, missing them! In an excellent location as off main strip but 2 min walk to bars...
