Hotel Armadams, Palma de Mallorca

Advantages: Well presented, friendly, welcoming, modern
Disadvantages: On a back street

...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. Tabourente playa la palma. lovely hotel..... thats about it!

Advantages: incredibly clean, lots of room for guests, good VFM
Disadvantages: not alot to do

...there is a neighbouring hotel also in the H10 group, a small gift shop, a Spar supermarket and a scuba diving store. If you walked out of the hotel, to the left and carried on past the pharmacy, you will come to a bar called Tasca Alavasca which provided good evening drinks and a nice meal, wasnt too expensive either. If you go out the hotel, take a right, then first right you will come to a beach bar called Lambada, again really nice bar, reasonably priced drinks but we found that thats all there was to do on the island, Thompson do offer excursions around the island but its mainly tours consisting of looking at the country side and a whale watch with me needing leg opperation i couldnt really do anything but i did try out the 'roque de los muchachos' trip which is very highly recommended! Advantages: Lots to see, interesting sites mixed in with shopping, so you get both
Disadvantages: Easy to get lost in Arab Quarter

...Palma on the Island of Majorca is a great place for shopping and doing a bit of sight seeing. We were staying in Palma Nova and being past the age when drinking all day in pubs and clubs, then flaking out on the beach seems a good way to spend a holiday, decided to find some 'civilized' life for a change. There are buses from all round the Island into Palma. The City itself is big. Everything is so spread out in the modern part and we found ourselves walking a long way to find major department stores and designer shops on the main road. However, we eventually found a wonderful shopping area in the old Arab Quarter of the City. This area is a maze of alleyways and small shops of all kinds. PALMA. WE DIDNT GET PALMED OFF

Advantages: SPACIOUS, FRIENDLY PEOPLE
Disadvantages: VERY BUSY, LONG WALK

...good, the decor was very basic, tiled floors, walls were blank, but on the whole the place was clean although not very well lit. DEPARTURE :-( The end of the holiday has arrived, and so quickly. The road network is rather good around mallorca now, and is getting better all the time, the route we travelled from to get to the airport, was coming in from the north of the island. A quick word of warning, if travelling in from this direction, make sure you are careful which sign you follow for the airport, as 1 of the signs says airport, but it actually for the freight terminal and not the passenger terminal. This was a more pleasant experience, as soon as we walked into the airport there was a screen to tell us which check in desk to goto, which handly was near enough right in front of us. Calas de Mallorca - a familys point of view

Advantages: Sun, sea sand, nie friendly people, quiet environment, everything is cheap
Disadvantages: It rained for 3 days ; everything was so cheap I had to buy another suitcase to bring everything home!

...I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Calas de Mallorca, with my family including 3 youngsters aged between 7 and 14. As this was the first family holiday for 5 years, and the first time the boys have flown, I wanted it to be special. The travel agent was very helpful finding a holiday within our budget and with plenty for the children. So in June we found ourselves jetting out of Leeds aiport to Palma. The main problem with the outward journey was because it was a night flight, the children were up all day, all the night and cranky for the first day of the holiday. The coach journey between Palma and Calas de Mallorca took just over an hour and a half, with the travel rep complaining all the time that she was tired!!! Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room

...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view. Two types of Palma

Advantages: Large, plenty of shops etc
Disadvantages: Large and it can be a long walk!

...There are 2 types of arrival/departure at Palma International Airport. (PMI) 1. Walkway off into terminal 2. Walk down steps of plane and get bus to terminal. You don't get a choice by the way, it depends on airline as far as I can gather so best check with your airline before you fly so you can be prepared. ~EXPERIENCE 1 (WALKWAY)~ If travelling with children and you have requested that your buggy meets you at the aircraft door - this is not going to happen! It's physically impossible for them to get buggy to you! The walk between walkway and immigration is VERY VERY long - you'll think you'll reach the sea before you reach intended destination. There are moving walkways but these don't generally mix well with young children. If carrying twin bubbas as well as trying to keep an eye on a 4 year old be prepared...

Heaven in Majorca

Advantages: Quiet location, lovely hotel, brilliant food, private beach.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and could be a bit quiet.
