How do you malt milk?
Advantages: taste, nutrition not too bad, price
Disadvantages: /
...I have never been a huge fan of biscuits, though I will admit, now and then I will fancy one. Usually it is not a chocolate option, but one form the variety that I call 'dry': bourbons, custard creams, rich teas. On this particular trip to Tesco I was browsing the shelves, and just as I was away to reach for the Custard Creams, I spotted a pack of malted milk biscuits. They were wrapped in a blue packet (much like the one in the image provided), with a n image of two malted biscuits calling out to me. I didn't hesitate further, and popped them into the trolley, along with a few other packets of my dad's choice.
I had tried these biscuits before but it had been a while so I couldn't quite remember what they tasted exactly like. I sat down with a steaming cup of tea by my side, a small pile of the biscuits aside me. I smelled one...

The non-alcoholic malt drink!
Advantages: Nice milky drink, nutritious, good price
Disadvantages: None!
...Looking through the kitchen cupboard the other day, I came across an old jar of Ovaltine which I had forgotten was even there. To be honest, I am not a regular drinker of Ovaltine, but I do like it as an alternative to tea and coffee, and it is ideal as a bedtime drink.
WHAT IS OVALTINE?
Ovaltine is a hi-malt drink. Malt is known to provide you with several forms of energy, so whether you need a pick-me-up or a sustained release of energy to keep you going throughout the day, Ovaltine is the drink for you. As well as giving you an energy boost, it is also a good source of vitamins and minerals. In fact, according to the container, Ovaltine contains at least 25% of your Recommended Daily Allowance of 11 vitamins and 4 minerals. It is also rich in calcium, iron and zinc and is free from any artificial additives. It almost sounds too...

McCoy's Salt & Malt Vinegar
Advantages: Delicious!
Disadvantages: Quite a few calories!
...There's salt and vinegar crisps...and then there's McCoy's Salt & Malt Vinegar. Accept no imitation. The Pringle is of course, addictive. The Walker is of course an old favourite. But the McCoy is the 'man crisp'...
The familiar ridged style crisp is a favourite with pub snacks, but more and more they are becoming a household favourite...especially if I've anything to do with it!! The glossy silver and blue packaging is eye-catching, but as you'd expect, they're not the 'healthiest' of crisps...if such a thing exists!!
At 164 calories for each 32 gram bag, there are certainly salt and vinegar crisps out there which can be deemed better for you, but few will match McCoy's for flavour. When biting into one of the thick cut crisps, the sharp vinegar flavour can really test your tastebuds. Combined with the salt it's flavour that...

Can't really fault the cheapness of malt
Advantages: really cheap; generous amount of raisins
Disadvantages: lacks flavour; not as good as main brand Soreen
...The most popular brand of Malt loaf is manufactured by 'Soreen' (see my review) and though you can purchase Soreen Malt loaves relatively cheaply now days, at about 58p, there's nothing wrong with bagging a bargain by opting for the 'value' or 'smart price' ranges of malt loaf under supermarkets own brand for half the price at 28p.
Malt loaf, briefly, is more of a cake than a bread in my opinion, though it's not made with traditional 'cakey' ingredients like fat or eggs. It's basically, a cake like bread made from Malt and molasses and filled with fruits (usually raisins or currents). Soreen is notorious for making the really gooey chewy malt loaf which sticks to your teeth and makes your jaws ache. It can be eaten plain, with butter or toasted.
There is quite a lot of difference between the branded Soreen Malt loaf and the Asda...

An Impressive Single malt
Advantages: Excellent taste
Disadvantages: Not available in the Supermarkets
...The Highland Park 18 year old single malt is one of my all time favourites. I open the bottle and sniff it and I get a warm feeling all over. I've got a sense of expectation, cos I know how good it is. It is a malt which can be slightly difficult to find, the Supermarkets' don't carry the 18 (most carry the 12). However specialist online retailers, e.g Royal Mile Whiskies, Wee Dram etc do carry it, not to mention the distillery shop. Some Oddbins also carry the 18. It is also available in most good whisky shops. It retails at around £60 a bottle (Its' worth every penny). The 18 year old is the equivalent of a bottle of XO Brandy, its' actually slightly cheaper. Its got an alcohol content of 43%
It comes from an impeccable pedigree, Highland Park is one, in my view, of Scotland's premier distilleries, located in the Highland Region...

A Very Fine Single Malt
Advantages: Rare Taste. Well Balanced. Slight touch of Sherry
Disadvantages: Expensive
...Fine malt whiskies are greatly appreciated in Scotland.and in many other parts of the world. The term single, when applied to whisky, has a very precise meaning. It indicates that all the whisky in the bottle was made in the same distillery. It is thus the product of a single distillery and has not been blended with whisky from any other distillery.
The term malt indicates the raw material -thus a malt whisky is made exclusively from malted barley and no other grain, sugar or fermentable ingredient. It is infused with water, fermented with yeast and distilled in a pot-still. There are actually around 30 malt distilleries in Scotland and their products are the only Malts that may legitimately be classified as Scotch. A whisky must be distilled and matured for a minumum of three years in Scotland before it can bear that appelation...

The Double Malt Dilemma
Advantages: Competitively priced, sweet and fruity teatime treat
Disadvantages: Slicing can be troublesome
...I picked up the first loaf by mistake, then noticed the (Tesco?s) ?Buy one Get one free? offer and picked up another, carefully checking that it was ?Suitable for Home Freezing? as I did so. Two rich fruit malt loaves for 54p seemed very reasonable. Certainly less than I would normally expect to pay. It would be no trouble to put the ?spare? into the freezer and bring it out in a week or two?s time. I?m not sure now what alerted me to my mistake. Was it the fact that the wrapping was a slightly paler shade of yellow than I expected? Was it that the grapes of the design appeared somewhat plumper than usual? Or was it the ?Smiley? sun design that first prompted me to notice that they were ?Sunmalt? loaves not my usual ?Soreen?? Anyway, faced with the option of swapping my 2 Sunmalt loaves for a single Soreen, I decided to give...

~ What is malt loaf anyway!? ~
Advantages: Deliciously yummy
Disadvantages: Slightly sticky and not very healthy!
...Soreen - the Fruity Malt Loaf
I love malt loaf? well, I love Soreen Malt Loaf. It is delicious to eat, especially when it is lightly spread with butter.
~ What is malt loaf? ~
I'd just finished eating a delicious slice of Soreen Malt Loaf and thought I would sit down and write a review about it while the taste is still in my mouth. However, I then realised I have no idea what malt loaf actually is. So, I thought I would do a little bit of research to find out. Wikipedia describes malt loaf as "a common snack food in the United Kingdom? It is made from malt and often contains fruit such as raisins". I now feel a little silly, I'm guessing the clue is in the name - loaf made of malt! Which when you look at the ingredients of malt loaf (which probably would have saved me some time if I'd done that first!), lists malted barley...

Single Malt. Drunk not shaken or stirred
Advantages: Warming
Disadvantages: none in my opinion
...I have done a few ops on different drinks from Beer to Rum. I don’t stick to one drink, some weeks I’m a Beer person other weeks I’m a Sherry person it depends on how I feel and the time of the year. I feel like as if I have had a fairly wide experience on different drinks and I like sharing my experiences with you.
Who likes a good Malt Whisky? Gill does.
Who went shopping to Asda today and bought herself a bottle to warm herself up? Gill did.
Which one did I buy? Glenfiddich Solera Reserve It cost me £23.99…. 70cl…..40% volume.
I used to drink Famous Grouse Vintage Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 12 years. Which was cheaper £16.50……70cl And I wouldn’t turn my nose up at it if anyone bought me a bottle (hint, hint) It was a smooth malt to drink, but after tasting Glenfiddich I...

A Fine Single Malt from Tain
Advantages: Smooth so very smooth. Nice Flavour. Hint of Smokiness
Disadvantages: Pricey. Not that widely available.
...The biggest selling single malt whisky in its native Scotland happens to be Glenmorangie, 10 year old and this is one of the finest whiskies that I have ever drunk. The distillery is at Tain, Ross-Shire ,far in the North of Scotland, and the elegant swan neck of the distillery still is apparently the tallest to be found in the Highlands.
Visitors are very welcome to visit the distillery and Glenmorangie, which was founded in 1843 and now owned by Leith-based Macdonald and Muir ,also have their very own web site. Initially its business was very localized -selling single casks to pubs and hotels in the area between Inverness and Dornoch.Indeed it actually started as a brewery and was later converted into a distillery.
Glenmorangie is the Gaelic for "...vale of tranquility...." and this wonderful whisky is matured in American...
